Side pockets are always wider than corner pockets. Nature of the table. Problem with double shimmed pockets is it changes the geometry of the pocket and it prevents you from “cheating” a side of the pocket. On that 9 ball down the rail to break that cluster/ pocket the 10, hit the 9 much softer. You just need to bump the 10 in. 👍

Hello Mike another nice video. Sorry I will take my time to watch all you videos slowly. 9 footer is my most prefer table to play the hardest pocket I played is 3 7/8” is fun. Mike my 2 cents 24:06 the 2 ball I will use a draw that will come out the cushion then 3 ball will be more easy to pot. Mike and I want to say your video got a lot of good vines keep up Cheers 🍻🍻🍻

Nice video Mike! ICB is my home pool hall which I guess that is why it showed up in my suggestions. At 17:35 you had a 9-ball that if you notice when you missed the tip of your cue moved from right to left. Which means you either had a inside out stroke or you hooked your wrist. I guarantee you if you work on your stroke you will see instant improvement. I hope that helps my friend. Shoot em straight!

🎱💪 Love this video. SVB recently gave some advice on how to improve your game; he said to get off bar boxes and play on 9 foot tables. When I played APA in Virginia, I was fortunate to play league matches on nothing but 9 footers. If you can play on 9 footers, bar boxes become so much easier. Keep grinding and good luck with your game. 👍

Here is my pointer for you Mike, when you shot at the 10 ball at the 15 minute mark, if you had a little bit of time, you could have instead chosen the 9 ball 13 ball safety shot. Break it up and leave it behind the 8 ball. Get ball in hand and run out. Choosing your battles is also part of the game!
@mikestuckey8 ай бұрын
I think I need more time lol. The APA has me shooting around 30 seconds per shot. I just don’t have the experience yet to see those maneuvers. But I hear you and appreciate the knowledge and tips!

Also last thing, man going from a 7 foot to 9 foot table is huge and add to it tight pockets! So on 7 ft tables, shots that are longer aren’t as forgiving. Shots you would normally make rattles in pocket. The remedy for that is to shoot for the middle of the pocket. People who play on 9 ft tables going to 7 foot struggle with speed and position. I’ll make a video explaining the to make your game better!
@mikestuckey8 ай бұрын
i’ll look for it!!

Those pockets are 3 7/8 on the tight 9 foot’s, you should come to the 9 ball tournament some time they have one in 3weeks it’s a open handicap tournament

I normally play on a 9 ft table with 4.5" pockets. Looks like you're playing on 4" pockets there. They look TIGHT. Which pool variant do you like? I don't really care for 8 ball, but I like 9 ball and 10 ball. I love watching one pocket, but I am not good enough to play that game.
@mikestuckey8 ай бұрын
I need to check out one pocket. haven’t played nor seen it played. I think I prefer 8 ball over 9. just more of a challenge.
@jrarreola27288 ай бұрын
Mike, so how was it playing from 7 footers to a 9 footer? Did you adjust right away or have trouble with it being bigger? Or is it pretty much the same feeling?
@mikestuckey8 ай бұрын
It's a big adjustment. The angles feel a little different and you're able to hit the ball with a little more power. I compete almost everyday so it didn't take long to adapt!

Hey Mike. At 15:10 you really should have played safe while breaking up those two balls softly, instead of trying to pocket the 10. Your odds of getting ball in hand were good and then a subsequent runout were good too.

Mike - as promised, I created a video on why it is tougher when going from a 7ft table to a 9ft table and how to correct that by aiming in the middle of the pocket. I am not a pool instructor so can't help you with the mechanics of it, but having a better understanding of why and if you find a good instructor will help you with it. I'm definitely not one to say that someone isn't being honest, especially when I don't know them or can't prove otherwise, but this person was supposed to have been a SL6 in APA? My local league is a BCA so I'm not 100% familiar with APA setup but isn't that at the upper end of their ratings? I ask this because there are flaws in his game that you wouldn't expect to see in someone who played at the higher end. Even in someone who hasn't played for a while because it was things that are usually ingrained into how you play. When the camera was on him, I never saw him properly get aligned into his shot before shooting. He also jumped up during his stroke on his shots. Usually these things aren't issues with someone who is/was a better player.

Your buddy Sam would be a MUCH BETTER player if he would stay down after his stroke, stop snapping at the ball, and just use a fluid stroke. He obviously knows how to play, but he has developed some really bad “pool hall habits”.
