Avid, passionate player here, Mr. Stuckey. Any videos I see you release are always a breath of fresh air, man. A glimpse into the subcommunities of the billiards community abroad. You said something in this video that is the highlight of any amateur. "Table time." I'm only able to play on a weekly basis at this point, and soon none at all unfortunately due to career demands, I hope to live vicariously through you in the big leagues! Keep up the attention to your game!

Quick tip if you don't know...When you do the 2nd ball break, always check the rack to see if there are gaps to either side of the 8 ball. If there IS a gap, break the balls from the opposite side of the gap. The 8 ball will get much more movement. ;) Also keep in mind, you get many more clusters when you break that way, so it favors the player with better cueball control and pattern play. Keep it going Brotherman.💪Btw, the hair looks good.

I enjoyed the video. A single big change in your game I’d make: Stand behind the pocket line of each shot before you get down. Decide where the cue ball will stop. Then step into the shot and execute your smooth stroke. You get down and shoot too frequently without knowing what comes next (all while thinking, “I want to be there” instead of knowing where you will be.). Less skilled players rush to shoot. More experienced players shoot once they” know”. No harsh criticism, all love for you- ❤

As for me, I’m locking in on my object ball before my final stroke rather than my cue ball. I’ve been told by many elite players that there is no wrong way to do it if you do vice versa however. I really enjoyed the video 🔥

I appreciate the regular match video. You asked whether you fix on the cue ball or object ball. For me it's always object ball. If the rotation on the cue ball is simple, like a short distance stop shot or just "dead weight", I would check my tip when I'm at the tip-to-ball stage, then switch to object ball with my sight exclusively. If the shot has more tricky rotation, like a side with drag/follow or I'm having the cue ball on the cushion, I would go between object an cue ball a few times, focusing more on cue ball when I start the feathering, but switching 100% on the object ball when I'm about to pull for the stroke. I learned that at the final stroke, I need to trust my proper cue action to grant me the same rotation I aimed with at the beginning. I hope this makes sense :D
@mikestuckeyАй бұрын
Yes very clear! Great insights bro! Thank you for sharing!
@MD-vy9jbАй бұрын
@@mikestuckey Thanks :) Being honest, focusing on the object ball was the main factor I significantly improved recently. Highly recommended. And now I am working on the basics again, like the stance, approach, cueing phases, etc., and it gives great results. How often do you practice? If not often i would suggest at least one hour a week. Only working on problem shots or areas you want to improve. Then shoot one rack at the end of practice to put it all together.
@mikestuckeyАй бұрын
I definitely practice way more than that. I probably average 5 hrs a week. Like actually practicing. Of course I play a good bit each week too. Good suggestions my guy!
@procrastinator6902Ай бұрын
5:41 Actually on the legal contact rule, ANY ball can hit the rail. It doesn't have to be the cue ball, object ball, or even one from your set.
@mikestuckeyАй бұрын
Correct
@procrastinator6902Ай бұрын
@@mikestuckey A minor additional detail, for sure, but I've had to have this conversation more than once during a match with opponents who thought that it had to specifically be the OB or CB to contact a rail for the shot to be legal.

The only thing that matters is if the ball drops. It does not matter how… just like golf; they only count how many, not how. It’s time to take a break and devote time to thinking about why you are making certain choices. Your pattern play is suffering greatly. You should also get a few drills from Anthony to help you really understand the cue ball position. If you did, you would never had chosen certain shots this match. The natural tangent is ALWAYS the first choice. Only when you need to break-out or avoid a scratch/object ball should you alter the tangent. And full length draw shots are seldom a good choice for anyone under a Fargo 800. 🙄
@mikestuckeyАй бұрын
haha @ the last statement. Makes sense! Great tips! Anthony set me straight. It's on me to follow through on all he taught me.
@cj-ef1rpАй бұрын
What’s really tricky about some of your videos is understanding the recorded date. You’re mixing in older videos after more recent videos. So when it looks like you’ve made huge progress in your game, you throw a curveball with an older version of you. This latest must be very recent given the changed up ‘do, but it would be great to put a chiron somewhere with the date the match was played. You do such an outstanding job with your editing, commentary, and content that it would be great to know where we are on your journey!
@mikestuckeyАй бұрын
@cj-ef1rp so glad you said that. I really want every reason to NOT go back in time. But I have so many matches from before Anthony just waiting to be edited. It’s a real dilemma whether I should upload any of that stuff. There is definitely my trip to Orlando that I want to share.
@cj-ef1rpАй бұрын
@@mikestuckeywell it can add a dimension to your commentary to analyze what you did versus how you see it now. The single best value of filming yourself is to watch and see what you “missed” (and I’m not referring to balls you didn’t pocket).

Speed greatly impacts swerve. More speed swerves less than lower speed. The angle at which you hit the ball also affect swerve. Your angle looked ok but you just hit the ball way to hard.

17:00 for me the percentage shot would be to pot the purple in the top left corner and use bottom right spin. This will throw the ball to the right cushion and then the bottom cushion with a shot on the 8 in the top left. It's a good shot to practice as this situation comes up quite a lot.
