The biggest problem of the Hyperkin one is the horrible color pallet. The sky off Super Mario becomes green dude! This problem incapacitate the system. I dont want to play my games with the wrong color.

I just got mine yesterday and it runs my Everdrive N8 without any issue.

As I pointed out in WTS3Point's video, he's got an older revision of the 8-Bit HD that is known to work with the EverDrive N8. This mirrors my own tests with the first revision working with the EverDrive N8 and the second revision, the one shown in this Lon.TV video, sitting at a blank screen and nobody's home.

This console is awesome. I am not having a problem with aspect ratio or flashcarts. I am not having trouble with music either ( since i listen to my own music selection while playing)

I personally have the 8BitHD and the Retron1HD. I perfer the picture quality on this device over the Hyperkin any day. Ive had good success with repros and homebrews. This unit works perfectly with the GameGenie Vs the Retron. The sound reproduction is spotty at best... BUTTTTTT There's a REVISED board from GamerzTek (May-2017) that addresses many compatibility and sound issues. Ask them and they'll replace your unit for no charge. I emailed them shortly after they reached out to me via Amazon on my review of the unit. This is a really good little Nes-Clone.

I have this system as well as several of the standard AV versions and they do work with zappers so not sure why yours didn't. I tried the HD version on 3 different HDMI equipped televisions and results were wonderful with sharp crisp picture, nice colors, and sound was very close to spot on. I did not notice any lag either which on my nes classic I can detect lag in Super Mario Bros series in particular because I played those so much growing up. I highly recommend this system and for the price especially it can't be beat.

It seems to me that the audio from the original NES had some sort of low pass filter to cut all the harsh highs that 8-bit sound used to have, a bit like the "filter" switch on the Amiga that applied low pass filtering to the audio to get a smoother sound. Probably these "modern" consoles just take the audio sound and run it through the speaker, so it sound harsh.

What are you talking about? There are composite hookups included in the packaging. Of course light games should work, as long as you use them on a CRT.

When you do input lag testing make your you are using the same HDMI port as well. Sounds weird but some HDMI ports on displays have different latencies

the audio is not only very tinny, but they also swap the square waves duty cycles! clone UMC chipsets for early famiclones are known to do that.

So, to summarize, this console would suit someone with access to original cartridges, and who doesn't mind noticeable lag, lack of lightgun support, poor sound quality, and forced stretching of the picture to fit widescreen monitors. Is this really a market segment that needed satisfying when they were designing and marketing this product? We see so many junk products like this made to cater to the gaming market, with the focus entirely on some fixed price point, and little consideration to suitability of use. I guess this is like the junk fitness equipment made and sold, where they are barely adequate to help you get fit, but you can maybe feel like you were doing something by using them. Without reviews like yours, Lon, we would just see these units and say "its an NES clone, what else is there to know"; but there are details worth knowing. Nobody needs this junk.

Unfortunately, not all HDTVs allow that over 480p. Two of mine don't allow any aspect correction at 720p and up.

Was going to get the Retron cause controller and design looks far better, but the color is horrible. Mario looks green, Glass Joe looks yellow, Ref Mario has a white face that matches his outfit. The sound quality is also worse than this one. This console isn't perfect with colors, but it is a lot better. Piston Honda looks like the Hulk cause he is green on this console. I'll take one bad colored character over a roster though. Again, shame cause the Retron Hd wins by presentation, controller wise, console design, a Switch for Pal and NTSC, and a Switch for 4:3 and 16:9 all are really good business choices

If the Analogue NT mini has 44 ms input lag then how much does the Retrousb AVS have?

I would imagine it'll be about the same, I hadn't developed this testing methodology when I had it but I think it's far less than the cheaper clone consoles and likely in line with the Analogue.

As expected, it's just a piece of junk, why composite output if it does not support the light gun, that input lag looks so worse it's like playing on a 100hz with motion enhancer. No accuracy in sound as expected from a noac chip,not working with all games. But the price and design is really attracting, but still they should ban or upgrade those shitty noac chips.
