@@captraykelly Hello Captain Ray, Actually I haven't seen any livestreams in over 3 months, or uploaded any videos. Kinda avoided media apps for awhile. Really the only thing I missed was seeing what you and others were flying. Summer is a rough time where I work, but it's coming to and end , fall is about here. I will see you and Johnny soon. I did backtrack on some of your videos, starting with the WW11 equipment show..

Seen a lot of videos where newbies try to learn a skill first thing into flying FPV. This is more important. We need to build muscle memory and technical skill rather than a fancy trick. That way, tricks and skills make more sense.

I have a problem with my back drift, where once I 180 yaw spin, I tend to drift upwards. Never occurred to me it's because of my camera angle! Thanks for the tip.

@@PilotInstitute I got the same and found that when I put the gimbal all the way down the motor hums because it hits the stop point. It does not sound healthy.

Why would you use the disarm button and drop it to the ground rather than use the pause button to put it into GPS mode keep it in place in the air?
@PilotInstitute
@PilotInstitute 3 жыл бұрын
To eventually land, the disarm button is fine. Or if you crash and need to turn off the motors. Also, it's a good habit in the event you want to transition to non-DJI FPV drone that don't have GPS mode.

Pilot institute, I have a question that I can’t find an answer on. Hoping you can make a video on it. My question: (I know it will differ from region to region. I’m in jacksonville FL) What are the rules for recreational and for certified operators when flying during daylight hours, but adverse conditions? Heavy morning fog, slightly intense winds, rain and storms (for the brave) for some examples. Also, unrelated question. Idk if you’re watching the news as it pertains to Gabby Petito. Can a non licensed drone operator flying a sub 250g drone voluntary join the drone search efforts? That’s a gray area of operating as if for a profession, but not being paid, nor solicited. So I’m not sure how that would work.

Hi, regarding flying in adverse conditions, for recreational purposes, there is no specific visibility requirements (like there is in Part 107, with 3SM minimum) but the regulation (USC 44809) says you must keep the aircraft within visual line of sight so you couldn't fly inside heavy fog if it causes the aircraft to no longer be within line of sight. Wind and rain is up to you. Remember also that it also says in 44809 that you must not operate the aircraft in a dangerous manner and that you must follow CBO guidelines. So what are the guidelines you are currently flying, and what do they say about visibility requirements?
@PilotInstitute
@PilotInstitute 3 жыл бұрын
And regarding search and rescue ops, a Part 107 certificate is required and you will have to check with the local searching operation to see if you can join them. They typically ask that people are trained first to help.

@@PilotInstitute you guys are great. Always quick to respond. My CBO guidelines are very hands off. Basically, if the faa doesn’t explicitly say no, then my CBO says yes. So I guess I’m good to go for foul weather as long as I can see and properly control my drone. Just wanted to double check with you guys first. The search and rescue one was more just for curiosity. But I guess, to clarify, if you see something with your drone while recreationally flying, and you report it, that doesn’t count as professional/business use, right?
@PilotInstitute
@PilotInstitute 3 жыл бұрын
@@jgetscensored7837 Which CBO guidelines are you following? And for search and rescue (and any other ops) remember that the recreational rules only apply if the intent of the flight is recreational. So in this case, yes, technically, if the intent was just to fly recreationally.
@jgetscensored7837

@@PilotInstitute thanks for the follow up. And until the faa decides on a list of approved CBO, I follow the AMA guidelines. If under 250 grams, they really don’t have much to say other than what the faa has already said. Their guidelines really only dictate what larger a/c and gas powered models do, as well as provide some common sense guidance for operating around other r/c air traffic. As far as weather is concerned, they are a bit contradictory. You “can’t fly in fog”. But you are “okay to fly in fog as long as you can see your drone.” That’s paraphrasing, but that’s essentially what they say. I suppose that leaves it to operators discression/ faa policy on line of sight.
