Yes, I do have an extra tip: pack a big dose of patience if you're there for the first time. 😀 London is way bigger than you've imagined, things can get hectic, but take a deep breath and enjoy every second of it!

One thing travelers need to accept when it comes to packing is that you can’t plan for everything. Sometimes you just have to buy that coat, an umbrella, or whatever else. Most of the time picking up the thing you need will be less than the checked bag fee.
@obaidrehmani65888 ай бұрын
I have been there couple of times. A jacket and a cap is a must considering how windy it gets even in summers. An umbrella is another necessity due to unpredictable weather.

packable raincoat! it was warm enough that i only needed a sweatshirt but with the rain, i didn't want to be sweating with a regular raincoat. a packable raincoat was perfect because it's really thin and lightweight and i bought it a size up so it could go over the sweatshirt and even my packable backpack if i had souvenirs. also, you don't need as much clothes as you think you do especially if you put it in your mind that you're going to do laundry. and seriously, they really do have basically everything you need if you forget something at home. i only brought the dryer sheets because i'm fond of the scent.

Your tip about how it can be cold one moment and hot the next is no joke - esp. in winter because the heating indoors is just over the top LOL. If you're going to a show and using the tube, the only time you're going to be remotely cold is when you're outdoors. So, unless it's raining, best to leave the heavy stuff in the hotel, be a bit cold going TO the tube and not having to peel anything off once you're in the tube/indoors. Also, some of the walks once you're inside a tube station are a long way and you WILL be taking off a top layer before you even get to your train.

As well as keeping your hotel address saved, I star or favourite it in my maps app. That way it is easy to start directions back to there without having to look it up. Also make sure you have a data plan that is good enough to allow you to use online navigation.

@@a.humphries8678 I just came back from London 4 days ago. I packed t-shirts for every days and 2 waistcoats instead of sweaters so it takes less place in my suitcase. I also took a "warm" jacket, a raincoat, a scarf and even sunglasses that I actually used! The weather was alright, we only had like an hour of rain on 2 days but it was mostly cloudy and sometimes a bit sunny. But there was a lot of wind so it was a bit cold at times. I also went a day in Oxford city and there it was sunny all day we could hang out in just t-shirts. As I said this was last week but I went to London in March 2022 and then it was all sunny and we were just in t-shirts. Also I'm french so maybe i'm used to colder weather than in Texas haha. I hope you will enjoy your trip London is a wonderfull city!

Regarding the last bit about customs and security entering the UK via Heathrow. Coming in from the US, my recent experience was very different. There was no luggage screening entering via Terminal 3. You step in the queue, when it's your turn you step up to a podium and put your passport on a scanner. It takes a photograph of your face and if you're clear the barrier will open and you're free to go on your way. There were customs agents in booths just beyond the podium, so perhaps if you get selected for additional screening then the mentioned items could apply but that was not case for me. Also, I only had a carry on and backpack so cannot speak for checked luggage.
@loveandlondon5 ай бұрын
No we meant when you're returning home, leaving from heathrow :)
@biernutt91685 ай бұрын
Sorry, that was not clear. Well leaving from Terminal 3 there's a regular queue and a priority queue for business/first class. You have to remove liquids from your luggage, same as 3-1-1 US TSA rule, but nothing else. Not sure why they would take controlled prescription medication from you leaving if it's in a valid container for the destination country? I have one, it wasn't flagged. Never try to take Nutella or Playdoh through international screening, it WILL be taken off you. Playdoh is particularly frowned upon for what should be obvious reasons.

I've always wanted to take one of the iconic black taxis in London, I don't know why, I'm sure they are expensive. I think it has something to do with knowing how hard it is for taxi drivers to pass their license test. Silly I know, but it remains on my list of things to do in London, LOL.
