I was blown away by what I experienced right out of the gate, but when The Flood happened, I was terrified and I was hooked! 👍

Herald of Darkness in Alan Wake 2 and recovering the Blades of Chaos in God of War PS4 are both incredible moments. I never beat Vice City, so my iconic moment from that generation is finding out the truth behind The Boss's mission in Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. Like the end of Saving Private Ryan, it makes me cry every time.

One thing that has always stayed with me over the years was the end for Lufia II. Not because it was extraordinarily special in terms of story itself, but simply for the fact that you and your wife die at the end - something that I had never seen before in any other game. Maybe there were games where you lost a character (Final Fantasy 4 comes to mind), but not the main characters.

I don't consider Aerith dying an iconic moment because I was a seasoned RPG player by then. I'd played PC RPGs, and console RPGs well before Final Fantasy 7. So for me, I saw Aerith dying coming a mile a way. She was the fastest to level up, she was the quickest to gain her top level spells and ultimate weapon for what would be considered "early" in the game. The plot seemingly revolved around her more than Cloud leading up to that moment. The signs were there that she'd either be killed off tragically or die heroically saving the others.

I feel like one of the best moments that made me say this is what gaming should be is in I think Gears 2 or 3 when one of the characters is trying to find his wife. Then you find her and he is all happy and it looks like they are in paradise then reality sets in and she in the locusts hive and she is pretty much dead. Maybe it's just me but I would have put "Would you kindly" as the iconic moment of that generation and is way more memorable than Sarah's death from The Last of Us. This one catered too much to Playstation. And although some moments are valid (like Aerith's Death), others were meaningless compared to other fellow titles from PlayStation and even from other consoles: - Wii would like to Play - The Cake is a Lie - Finishing this fight - I found you, Faker - The Nuke - Xbox One abysmal introduction - Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom trailers/gameplay - Skyrim - Ah, s**t, here we go again. Just to mention a few that have been more memorable than some on this list. EDIT: suggestion - Videogames that you have to play again as an adult (if you played them as a child)

sigh, if we have to go with industry killer aka the last of us, then personal I would have choosen a different moment... the giraffes. You exspecting another new horror to arrive and instead its just a look at these beautifull creatures who somehow survived and adopted to this new enviroment.
