Tom thanks for all the valuable tips. Implemented SNT 3 months ago, have work hard on range and course and went from 12 to 7 handicap. No SNT coaches in Panamá, just your great videos. As a result I am enjoying golf, not stressing out and cashing money from my buddies on bets through consistency. Keep the great work no matter what the critics say. I haved played golf for 25 years and never experienced faster success and enjoyment of the game as today thanks a million.

Tom, Thank you so much for simplifying the golf swing for me. I'm 67 yrs old and have been playing for over 40 yrs. Your instruction has improved my ball striking ability by at least 10 fold, the consistency is amazing and the improved accuracy is incredible. I'm hitting greens like never before, the last time out I had 4 shots within 10' of the pin with 1 at about 8". I am now able to hit 3 & 4 irons with confidence. Thanks again!

Hi Dennis - I truly appreciate your very kind words regarding my instruction, and I'm very glad to know that your game has benefited from it!! Now, I do not engage in political discourse on my channel because it's not about that. Golf is a global sport enjoyed by folks from all sides of the spectrum, and my purpose here is to assist all in getting the most out of their respective games. In fact, nowadays perhaps the golf course is one of the few remaining sanctuaries where such differences can be put aside in favor of our experiencing commonality in the highs and lows that the game provides while always seeking to find the middle ground of the fairway rather than trouble to the extreme left or right. So then, in having said that, our shared mission is to *_Make Golf Great Again_* , and I assure you that is most definitely *not* *_Fake News_* ... Cheers! Tom

Hi Tom. Lot to take in - but it’s all starting to make sense. Breathless stuff! I’m following your online course presently and I’m starting to feel some greater fluidity, less muscle, less strain, less tightness, and, as a result, the real essence of your system, as a direct result. It’s a gradual process, and so, with practice, it slowly starts to naturally dawn on me how it works, and to feel/achieve what I see on your vids. I’ve naturally relaxed my grip, the oil then begins to bleed in to the system (for the first time!), and I can feel the compression and elastic power in the motion coming through and beyond contact. From there, the in-to-out swing arrives unexpectedly, then a burgeoning lasso follows, leading to an easier and taller follow through, and then an effortless completion. Jesus, when I hit a good one, it feels like a sweet bull’s eye. This is not just for drives, but all the way down to the wedges. Sterling stuff. Nick

Great video! I’ve been trying to take my backswing to far back and this is causing my upper body to lift. Very in consistent. Thanks for this!
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated well with you! The key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set (preferably with a flat or slightly bowed lead wrist). This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur: 1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift 2) the wrists will break down 3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side 4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball 5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". By the way, here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning about some key tenets of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Tom

@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 жыл бұрын
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Jaime, and I'm looking forward to seeing you soon in the online school!! In anticipation of your enrollment here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start: 1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school membership - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I monitor the forum regularly and participate in the discussions, including assisting with swing-related inquiries. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to hearing from you regularly in the Forum and to assisting you in building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level! Thanks again! Tom

I love your videos, they are so logical and entertaining. At the range I can clearly see that more of my shots are "crispy" using stack and tilt, but on the course there is still too much inconsistency. I am hoping to see the breakthrough on the course soon.

I'm glad to know that you're enjoying the video lessons and also benefiting from them!! It takes time to successfully bring swing changes to the golf course. Oftentimes we have "ghosts of swings past" hiding in our closets, and as soon as we apply some on-course pressure that closet door flies open and those demons come out to play! Just keep up the great work, manage your expectations, and try to not bring multiple mechanical swing thoughts with you to the course. With good patience and demeanor the swing you're building will become fully playable!! Keep it crispy!! Tom

I am 80. I watch KZbin golf tips all afternoon in my garage. I thought I had seen them all until I came across your channel. I was getting ready to quit again because I had been taught long ago that the speed you could turn your hips generated ball flight. Consequently I was flipping and falling back off the ball and hitting off the toe, sculling and other wrong things. I went to the ranch today keeping in mind your tip yesterday about sliding the hips towards the target and I flushed every shot even my driver. I had my weight slightly forward my body tilted at the waist and slid right towards the target and Bam straight as an arrow every shot. I could feel the compression. I hit my driver just off the inside of my left heel and then I hit every ball in that same position simply by moving my right foot further back and a little bit further behind for every shot and I was hitting a perfect little draw. I was quite enthusiastic for an old man like me and did not want to quit but I was getting too tired. I can't thank you enough.

That's awesome, Ronnie!! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is helping you to overcome those misconstrued and/or misguided "conventional" teachings that have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up and put an end to this madness! By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. Thanks so much for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and have fun out there!! Tom

I went back to the driving range today and it was all gone. Coming over the top again because I do not have the ability to follow through. I'm watching your video again and it looks more and more like you have a conventional golf swing. The only good shots I hit it's when I concentrated with the stack and tilt and shifted my weight to the left side and due to my age I guess my left knee was bowing from the weight and now it is hurting like a b**** and so is my hip and I surrender.

Thanks Tom. Getting up there, 63. Have back and spine issues. Your instruction is helpful. Years ago, before the wife and kids, i was a great ball striker. Even was compared to Freddie by another golfer. Unfortunately, like Freddie I was a skilled flipper; it seemed I could do anything with the shot. So different now with the back issues. I'm making the switch to the swing you teach and Hogan and Palmer perfected. I'm still husky and strong. I see a bright future. Thank you. Timothy Crum, coauthor of NEW DAY novel

Glad to have you onboard, Timothy! This is a very body-friendly motion as supported by the fact that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. So many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing and experience great ball striking. I hope you'll give the school some thought. It's a "New Day" for your golf game. 😎 Have fun out there!! Tom

Testimonial time. I’ve been learning to play for about three months. My swing was a frustrating mish-mash of random tips I picked up all over KZbin. The inconsistency of my full swings was getting really frustrating. I play at a little executive course and it was taking me three or four shots to get to the green on the par 3s. I hadn’t hit a GIR in my last 23 tries. I liked some of Tom’s videos so I decided to subscribe to his website’s program. I spent two weeks going through his program from the beginning, doing the drills in my backyard into a net. It felt good, but today was the first test in a real 9-hole round. I step up to the first tee box and stick it to inside 4 feet for my first-ever birdie. I was hitting irons clean and straight all day. I hit 4 of the 7 par-3 greens, and two of the misses were perfectly in line but long and short because I wasn’t completely sure of my distances with the new swing. I still have tons of work to do to add distance and ever-more consistency, but I can absolutely say the program works.

Hi Tom. Great video as usual. I believe I am doing everything thing you are saying with just one add on i call the pre swing Matthew Wolff twitch in order to remember to open my lead hip on my downswing. I can’t do a loopy swing as he does only his unique pre swing twitch. I did this yesterday during every swing and my partner was so amazed and wondered who was inside my body. 😃 Cheers

Hi Thomas - I'm glad you enjoyed the Arnold Palmer video and I hope you'll tune in again this weekend for the latest installment in the Hogan Series! I got a kick out of trying Wolff's twitch, but I couldn't quite imagine putting it into play. I'm glad to know that you were able to somehow make it work well for your swing!! (And I bet it was quite the sight as well!! 😂) We all need some type of trigger mechanism, whether it be internalized or visible. I'd say his is one of the most overt ones I've seen, but there's no questioning it's effectiveness for Wolff...or I suppose for you now as well LOL! Cheers! Tom

The one thing that gets me pretty bad at times, mostly poor decision making, is the short 40-50 yard approaches. Outstanding, it's everything you have said in the past, but a fabulous summary of all the golden moments. I am such a good student, I have these golden orbs soaked in my brain, but you have brought a sequencing that makes it a simplistic wrote experience. So, I saw that hammock in the background and I was thinking of the rotation; staying in a perfect arc between the saplings, or something, absolutely beautiful, and a great memory trace to visualize. Tommy you have nailed this sport to the bullseye, its unbelievable. My problem is my brain doesn't recognize the golfer anymore, so I hit these crispy, toasty shots from anywhere absolutely stiff, and the id side of the brain doesn't recognize any relationship to who just hit the shot, and my ego is saying,...'...hey, its alright it's just me with some mapping from Tommy, so don't bug me...'...don't get me wrong it's a good problem to have, but its still a little bit of a problem because that 5 inch place Hogan talks about. Hee hee....Unbelievable, Tommy, I know you know how good you are, but I am telling you, you are 10,000 times better. Thanks again, just outstanding.

So if you happen to see me lifting and shifting in the next video episode you'll know it's because I was unable to maintain my swing center due to balance issues and my sore obliques hindered my ability to tilt. Tom, love the channel. Simple question. Where are you looking, or if the ball, where on the ball during the swing and right at impact. I noticed in this one you said imagine head ahead of ball. And your motion it is going ahead. I want to put that thought into my swing, but am wondering about eyes and what to focus on. And is the head moving at all or is it supposed to be just feel.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my channel's content, Johnny! If you rewatch the tip in questions you'll hear me say that the head being in front of the ball is just a "feel" for golfers who flip and fall back through impact. In actuality the head should stay within the same general confines of where it started at address. Sure - it will move a little bit in reaction to the swing motions, but if you were to draw a circle around your head at address it should remain in that circle through impact and beyond. As for where I look - generally it's the back of the ball. For someone who is trying to break the habit of coming across the line in the downswing (or over the top) I might recommend looking at the inside rear half of the ball. I hope that helps! Tom PS: By the way, have you given any thought to enrolling in my online school? @@SagutoGolf Thank you Tom. I will absolutely consider doing this. I have never been one to practice over the winter. I keep telling myself to do it, but I haven't. Don't have the space in my home to swing the club. I am joining an indoor league this year so that will definitely help. Simply play too many other sports and don't have the funds to dump into golf like I like (to be honest I spend too much there already considering my budget). Also partly because I felt I would be practicing the wrong swing that has lead to inconsistency my whole life. I finally paid for 2 lessons with a local pro here last week. He was nice and he did help with some things but in the end the conventional swing (he was an older gentleman) he was trying to teach me with the weight shift I just knew wasn't for me. Too many thoughts going on, too many positions. I wanted to eliminate variables so sought out Moe Norman/Graves/single plane, and your technique. Also looked at pre load heavy right like Stenson, it's an interesting concept. This lead me to search for alternatives. It's interesting because I tried stack and tilt years ago (not saying yours is that) and had mixed results. Started very well, but definitely I think wasn't getting certain elements correct and felt weird. Lead to some poor shots and uncomfortable pre load feel. Loss of power too. I see know I wasn't setting the backswing correctly or following through correctly. I mean clearly you are hitting it well, and many others with this technique. I like that it's back friendly Just turned 40. Anyway, want to focus more on golf now and will definitely this this out on the range this week. If I start to feel it working I think you have a customer. Everything you are saying makes total sense. It is definitely a different feeling swing in general, being so over the ball like that, with the weight and the pivot. I'm gonna try to make this work, cause what I have been doing hasn't been working and am tired of finishing a round unhappy. Want to have fun out there!! I love golf but is truly love/hate right now. I also look at back of ball and the instructor told me inside back of ball. Man it is very hard to focus on the inside back of the ball. Don't know what it is. Back yes. Inside back it much tougher to swing through!

Jason - If you've flipped, rolled, or "released" the club at impact in the past then retention of the angle formed by the trail arm and the shaft (aka: the "flying wedge") may feel like tension when initially working on this, however the crispy compression you achieve will speak volumes! Hi Tom you are right about Arnold Palmer holding his release of the club post impact significantly as evidence of his unique hands and wrist twirling of the club head post impact at the finish of his swing. On the the other hand Jack Nicklaus said we can never release the club head too early. So that is a no no with Stack and Tilt. I think you borrowing various different players pointer to teach Stack and Tilt. And then fusing certain points of these great players into Stack and Tilt is an effective and very powerful way to teach Stack and Tilt. Cheers
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Thomas - I appreciate that! I'm really just borrowing a repetitive theme from the Stack and Tilt book in which they feature photos of numerous golf legends in order to reinforce various positions and motions. One certainly does not have to be S&T to execute a move that fits well within this realm (think shoulder down, hands in, lateral hip slide, extension of the spine, hands forward at impact, etc., and the top level players who had one or more of these in their respective swings), and thus the elements that comprise the S&T swing are not some sort of new age sorcery or dark arts as some might have you think. Instead it is a symphony of proven movements that blends nicely into an effective, consistent, and powerful swing that is well rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology. Tom

@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, Both feet should be flared out 10-20 degrees, and the knees should be flared outward as well, though to a slightly lesser degree. If the feet are flared but the knees are not then that could cause discomfort. Also, during the backswing the front knee should fold in the slightly forward direction it is pointing. If it works backwards at all - signifying a non-prescribed transfer of weight or pressure from the front into the trail leg - that may also cause some stress on the joint. I hope this helps! Tom

@SagutoGolf

No matter which club you are swinging, the lead knee always works down in the direction established at address - which should be slightly flared outward towards the target. This keeps the weight forward and the swing center intact. Any inward movement of the lead knee will shift the center and low point backwards. This can lead to inconsistency and may also cause some discomfort to the knee. Great question! Tom PS: Have you considered enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school? I propped up my phone below the feedback screen and started recording my irons and driver, and watched it when I got finished. You'd think I had never swung a club in my life. - I was 100miles away from the tee, hands not hanging straight down, but about 10deg from vertical (looked like I was reaching so far forward I was going to fall over any minute) - Overswinging my back-stroke to the point my grip released at the top, and my shoulders hardly moved, it was all arms - Great swing back down, initiated from the bottom, but as it was all arms, too far away and broken grip..............it was all sht. Film yourself and see if you're doing as he mentioned. I played last week in Spain, and the back 9 I was closer to the ball and was taking what I thought was half swings (to retain control).........played 44 on the 9, on a course I didn't know that will be used for the PGA tour in 2024, and that's after hardly playing for years. Having said that, my guitar membership program is still active, and there’s plenty of great Skynyrd content in there! Here’s the link if interested: saguto.golf/p/tom-s-rockin-guitar-membership Thanks! Tom PS: Even though it's on my golf channel, you might still appreciate this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3iYYqWChNJpfJI

Left shoulder, is the key. Big time. from Mr. Saguto and from Christina Ricci -More Pars golf - I use, Stay loose, stay moving and I just turn that left shoulder at the ball. The increase in club speed is massive. Turned the years back for distance...thank god for the wrath of god........

I notice your head is over the ball. Shouldn't the head always remain behind the ball?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
When hitting a short iron the ball is positioned more towards the middle of the stance, and therefore the head would be approximately even with the ball from a face-on perspective. With the driver, the ball would be positioned even with the inside of the lead heel, in which case the head would be behind the ball.

did you ever look at moe norman?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
I've absolutely looked at him and have admired his consistently crispy compressed shots! While the Stack and Tilt swing I teach shares the single plane feature, it is definitely different from the Moe Norman version and for this reason I do not recommend crisscrossing between the two methods as it would certainly lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against Mr. Norman's renowned ball striking prowess or the style of instruction that he inspired; it's simply that components of his swing style are not compatible with S&T. So my best suggestion to those who are weighing these two methods is to choose one or the other, but not both! Cheers! Tom

one must be the elongated fellow to properly swing the club without throwing out your back and spine.

Not so in the swing that I teach, William! The Stack & Tilt swing is a proven body-friendly method. For me personally this has been further supported by the fact that the majority of my students are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back surgeries, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. Should you wish to give this swing a fair shot by learning it properly, please consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only platform that really simplifies the process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm constantly adding new content. Hitting on the heel a little bit what could be causing this
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say without seeing your swing and the ball flight, Trey. It could be a result of approaching he ball from the outside in your downswing, although the first thing I would suggest is checking your setup and ensuring that your arms are hanging down naturally and not pulled in too close to your body. If only there was a training aid..... I'm afraid if we actually did that with a barber pole it would resemble a medieval torture device LOL

@@SagutoGolf Hi Tom. Sometimes golf can seem like medieval torture. Been coming over the top again, even after trying your loop tip. Watched a Mike Alaska interview just now where he spoke of clubface control (grip) and that an error there tends to lead to an adjustment in the path. In my experience this rings true. In the past, swinging for the fences, I naturally bomb it out to right field, all day long. The club comes from the inside as it should and it feels comfortable. But the results have been poor - 50-60 yards dead right but long, 45 degrees to my target. And I've been to the point of tears trying to correct it, with extremely frustrating and inconsistent results with path aka coming over the top, cutting across it from the outside, causing a huge weak slice. Can't to try a strong grip tomorrow on the range using my natural swing. I want to be free of this torture!

@aspacepig - I oftentimes do not see follow-up comments to those that I've already responded to. Case-in-point is that I just came across this one from 3 months ago! Please tell me - in a new comment thread - that you have since freed yourself of the aforementioned "torture" and are now experiencing at least a few tears of joy...... Cheers, Tom
