The BEST GOLF SWING TIP OF ALL TIME. Do you want to wear out the sweet spot on the center of your clubface like that? Arnold Palmer's one golf swing thought CAN take care of your whole golf swing and make it happen powerfully, simply, body-friendly - leading to more FUN for you. Take a golf swing tip from one of the greatest golfers of all time and begin hitting the golf ball extremely solid with more yardage and FUN!
What's the GREATEST GOLF SWING TIP OF ALL TIME? It's quite simple and it will cause your golf swing to happen naturally without thinking so much about it. This swing tip was featured in a Golf Digest article highlighting Arnold Palmer's best golf tips. This was one of his favorite tips - "point the lead shoulder at the ball." That's it - that's ALL you need to have a fantastic, powerfully consistent swing.
HOW THIS GOLF TIP IS SO AWESOME:
1. Point the lead shoulder at the ball - maintains your body's relationship to the golf ball throughout the golf swing leading to crispy clean contact and finding the center of the clubface ALL DAY LONG.
2. As you do this, your hips naturally turn (powered by the turning of the torso) - creating an effortless power source for you in the golf swing.
3. You stay centered over the ball for clean contact shot-after-shot. You'll notice that this swing thought ELIMINATES SWAYING AND SHIFTING off of the golf ball, leading to your best contact ever.
4. The Backswing - the club will trace the proper golf swing path leading to an efficient and simple one-plane swinging motion.
5. The Downswing - the club naturally reacts to the turning of the torso and travels on the proper path into the golf ball INSTEAD of chopping at it and swinging over the top.
EFFECTIVELY, this golf swing thought can eliminate a ton of golf swing flaws and problems for you, IF YOU ALLOW it to do the work.
Is there a catch? NO. However, like all good things, you must do some work up front to get this thought to perform correctly every single time. You have to master the 3 GOLF SWING PREREQUISITES that I discuss in the episode. They will help you master this tip and ensure that your swing repeats all day long.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Daniel Germano - I have no objection to the 10-finger grip as long as it is fundamentally sound and the handle is properly positioned in the fingers and not the palms. A poor grip causes a host of problems including losing control of the clubface, creating tension, and activating the wrong parts of the body at the wrong time. Here's a video I did recently on the grip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nV6ypphofryVmpY. Also, if you'd like to get on the fast track for what I teach please consider the SagutoGolf online school as it is one of the best golf instruction values out there. Tom, I'm 72 years and play decent albeit inconsistent golf. Prior to this vid I was shooting in the mid eighties. After watching I went to a nine hole course and by concentrating on pointing my left shoulder to the ball and turning my torso I was hitting the ball longer and straighter. I shot 38 (two over par). If not for my subpar short game I could have scored better. The next day I played this course again and shot 35 with an eagle on a par 5! My goal is to shoot my age and I think that is now possible. Thanks, and continue using the KISS method of instruction. "Keep it simple stupid"⛳️. 🏌🏾

This is the "tip" that left my swing at some stage of my life resulting in my powerful consistent semi-pulls with irons for many years. I was 5 handicap once and probably did the "tip" unknowingly when I was young. I only read this now and tried a few sponge balls on the sitting room carpet. Eureka, I know how to hit down the line again. All it took was a little bit extra effort of will to get my left shoulder to point at the ball. I just know it will work on the golf course next weekend. Thanks Major Tom. PS: Have you any " tip" to remove scorch marks from a carpet. I want to stay alive till next Sunday.

Well, M P Downes, at least it just a scorch mark and not a divot. Tom, I was waiting for you to put up a new video to post this. I only discovered your channel this week when your video "You've been swinging the club WRONG your whole life" popped up on my timeline. I watched that video with a lot of skepticism and I have to tell you, I've been binge watching your videos all week and you are ABSOLUTELY right. I watched one of your older videos yesterday where you talked about how you felt about the stack and tilt method, your struggles and how this method restored your game. After struggling with a deteriorating swing and game for the last several years, I finally broke from "traditional" swing theory and tried your method. HOLY SHIT...what a difference. Your methods have fixed my driver, almost completely removed the vicious snap hook that my 5 iron produced regularly and I'm hitting the ball better than I have in decades. I've realized that through your videos that there are just too many variables in the traditional method and if you're not playing every day and hitting 1000 balls it's almost impossible to hit it constently. Hell, even if you are it's almost impossible. This method is sooooo much simpler, so much more straightforward and so much more logical. You've fixed, in a few videos, what I thought was going to take the entire summer and you did it in two video. My God what a transformation. I can't thank you enough.

I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! And yes - the body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system I teach is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best golfers in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? Not sure about keeping the weight on the lead leg during the backswing. Watching the swing, it’s clear the lead leg is bent on the backswing and then loaded right before the backswing is completed. Look at the illustration of Arnold; his left foot is on the ball of his foot during the backswing.

I was skeptical of this method because I've always swung what everyone said was too far inside on the backswing. I tried and tried to get it more vertical and then shallow on the downswing but was very uncomfortable. Also I had a bad hip slide and thought that keeping my weight forward would make it worse. Needless to say I was wrong. I realised that with your type of backswing it's already shallowed with zero effort or thought. Tried your method today on the course and hit the longest drive I've ever hit by 30 yards which was over 300 and I'm only 5' 4". Even my miss hits went farther then my old center hits. And this method works on every type of shot. From driver to chipping and sand. Thank you!

Tom, Thank you for your videos and instruction. Today I played 9 holes for the first time in a year. Last year I played only once (9 holes). I shot a 41 today that included a birdied on the par 5 9th. I did this with literally no practice or even range warm up. I am so excited to see where this swing will take my game as I get it more groved it. Most of my "misses" into the greens where left pulls, due to my old move of really spinning my hips hard that caused my weight to fall back. When I kept if forward on the down swing I was amazed at the strike I was producing. When we were done my friend said "ok...what is up? You have not hit a ball in a year, and come out and shoot 41 (I took his dollar too🙂). I gave him your name and told him to watch your videos. I told him it is truly game changing! Thanks again for what you do. It is great stuff. PS - I used single length irons and 2 utility clubs the length of a six iron. I play from the up tee (yellow) with a goal of 200 from the tee shots. I hit a couple 230+, which is huge for me!! I am super excited what the future holds. I feel that with my single length clubs I will Grove this move much faster. Will I ever shoot a 68....no, but I am very confident I can get my scores into the 70's. It blows my mind that I even think that way so very confidently. It is a great feeling - totally thanks to your teaching. Sorry so long, but I am just amazed. Cheers and take care.

When I tilt so much like that, I always fear that I will not "clear enough" on the downswing, and will subsequently chunk the ball. I think the most important thing is to place a 60/40 weight distribution towards your left leg (if right handed), so that the momentum is going towards the ball. Great instruction.
@cobra7282

Just make sure your weight is moving forward in the downswing and even some straightening out of the lead leg as your coming into impact will help create space for the club to the ball.

@@cobra7282 I agree. I'm just not supposed to think about these things while addressing the ball--the swing is fluid and these mechanics are supposed to happen without thinking about them. That is my goal--to not think about these mechanics, and just have them occur automatically. Almost there.

Big fan of your vids! They have a perfect balance of solid concepts, techniques and humor. With that said, I researched this fundamental move. It is correct.. but a detail i might suggest is sometimes it is better to raise the lead shoulder pointing about a yard ahead of the ball (like Tiger Woods does). This allows agressive golfers who really really load the lead shoulder deep, more room for the trail side to come thru on the downswing.. although technically, both ways get back on plane. happy golfing!

Tom, finally someone who knows what he is talking about and can communicate it to his audience. Someone once said "golf is a simple game" which of course no one believes because we make it hard and why.? Because of all the complicated instruction and the lack of explaining in simple terms or the expectation that we already know some things. I'm turning 80 soon and have blown out to 20 handicap and with that one single tip of keeping the left shoulder pointing ( in my case, nearly to the ball) I can see myself improving at least 5 shots.. maybe. So now am heading to your website to become a " Saguto golfer " Thanks mate from Victoria Australia, MEL.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
How interesting and sad it is, Melvyn, that with all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness! I'm so glad to know that you are enrolling in the school. You'll find yourself in good company there as a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start: 1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this. 2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing! 2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down. 3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/lessons 4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level! Cheers! Tom

Finally someone teaches against "loading up you trail leg". All this talk about "80% of your weight on your trail foot". My view is that's garbage and all it does is encourages people to sway off the ball (dead duck territory). When I narrowed my stance a bit and "stayed with that ball going back", pushing back with my left arm (for a right hander) and keep that arm extended (not tense, just fully extended) and pivot around that lead hip coming down, staying "on side" though, as Bobby Lopez called it, not lurching forwards, boom, whole new world. Thank you so much, you're funny and entertaining, but more importantly you nailed it, and explained well the geometry, with the radius out of the lead shoulder and our arc staying constant if we keep the lead arm extended, leading to finally a grooved consistent swing. I was thinking you were going to the geometry and yep, you did that too. The why, not just "do this", "get here". So true re one thought too. Such a great lesson. Possibly the best I've seen. And I feel encouraged (and better now) cause it was where I had gone recently, as it was working (extra distance finally hitting straight) but so nice to hear it from someone who's a professional. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your kind words, Glen! Yes - geometry and physics - two disciplines of this world that are probably not changing anytime soon. (If they do we've got bigger concerns than our golf games...) So it does kinda make sense to engage the principles found therein towards an action that seeks to propel an orb a maximum distance with accuracy, right? Keep up the great work!!

You're a funny guy, Tom. I can't wait to try this tip out. At first I thought, "Oh man this guy's too silly for me." Then I sat back and watched. Everything you say makes sense. KISS - Keep it simple, stupid. That should be my motto for golf. Three years ago I was shooting mid-80s after a lifetime of never breaking 100. Then I took lessons and now I'm barely breaking 100 on a good day. I'm going to watch your video a couple more times then take it to the range first time I can get loose, probably a couple days from now. Your ideas, and Arnold's, go along with what I was doing right before I took lessons from the wrong guy and messed everything up. Hopefully I can get back into the 80s before I'm aged in my 80s. Still have some time but the clock is ticking. Thanks for the laughs.
