I've been trying to learn Irish pronunciation for months. I always got tripped up on vowel combinations like io, ai, eo, oi, ui, and ei. Nowhere else explained that there were multiple correct ways of pronouncing these. Thank you so much. Sláinte.

Absolutely appreciate these, is it possible for you to make a video explaining every diphthong/triphthong in Irish? I read a page in a book explaining that they can be either short or long but some of them had two versions of their "long" sound and I just couldn't follow along. I'd love to see you keep it up with your videos and I think that would make an excellent addition!

The vowel combinations (in this video like io, oi, ui, etc. which aren't true diphthongs) plus the true diphthongs and triphthongs at kzbin.info/www/bejne/laTQfodrf6ibd8U cover all the possible vowel combinations you'll see or hear in Modern Irish, although through the ear of this single dialect. I didn't want to burden viewers with all the possible vowel combinations in a single video, so I divided them up. With regard to the long and short variations of ei and eo, you'll hear those over on my "diphthong" video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/laTQfodrf6ibd8U&feature=youtu.be .

I was told that the name Gerry in Irish is pronounced as Gary as it is in the United States and not as Jerry. Is this true.

in other dialects are there only additions, but not differences principally? can you do that too?

Hi, Botany. There are differences / variations in other dialects, just as in English. But I want to stay away from trying to teach all the various dialectal variations. I used to do that, but it drove my students nuts. So I went back to teaching just one, just the way a child learns one dialect from his/her parents. It works much better. Just as a child gets used to other pronunciations over time, as that child meets more and more people, you'll be able to do the same. But it's best to start with only one dialect just like when you were a child. That's the natural way we learn and I find it works best.
