@@shamryameen2647 yep. Earlier mother were given 84 working days for first two children and after the 3rd baby, were given only 42 days. But after the amendment, 84 days leave in respect of the any number of babies. If mother bearing twins, also given 84 working days. Mother can get 14 days leave before bearing and another 70 days can get after the bearing as she wish. 42 days leave in respect of the confinement resulting in the issue of viable fetus.👍

As far as to my understanding, certain points are to be corrected. 1. Maternity leave is 84 for each birth. 2. Of course, as you say Annual leave entitlement depends on the quarter of the calendar year which the candidate joined. But, the 1st year of employment considers in two ways when compared with Shop & Office Act and Wages Board. Under Shop & Office, 1year year of employment would be the calendar year. Whether you join in January or December, 1year means until the 31st December of particular calendar year. However, under Wages Board, 1st year of employment means, completing one year from the date he/ she joined.

(01).Leave entitlement for private sector employees are Mercantile holidays. Not public holidays. Payment in lieu is 2.5 times (i.e. 1.5 + 1 days salary). (02) To mean paid holiday singular word " Leave" is used ( Plural word "Leaves" gives a different meaning)

Hey Chandrasiri 👋 All the public holidays we mentioned in the video are mercantile holidays. Indeed, all private sector company employees are entitled to mandatory leave on mercantile holidays. If the employees are required to work on a public holiday, the company needs to pay them 2x their regular rate. Here’s the shop and office act’s extract for reference: www.ilo.org/dyn/travail/docs/1350/shop 7 (2) Grant of holidays on public holidays. “A person to whom the provisions of subsection (1) apply may, notwithstanding these provisions, be with the prior sanction of the Commissioner, employed for a normal period employment on any day declared to be a holiday for the purpose of this section, but in any such case that person shall instead be allowed a holiday with full remuneration on or before the thirty-first day of December next succeeding, or be paid remuneration for his employment on the day so declared to be a holiday at a rate which is double the rate at which such person is ordinarily remunerated for such employment on any day." 7B. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 7A, a person employed in or about the business of a shop or office may be employed on a Full Moon Poya Day for a normal period of employment subject to the condition that he shall be paid not less than one and a half times his normal daily rate of remuneration.

BUT what if a slave driving employer simply terminates an employee ? how severe will the law be on the EMPLOYER ??, keeping in mind that untill legal resolution the employee is without a monthly salary.
