Literally I've been getting over a cold the past 5 days. I been trying to lose weight and have been so obsessive over counting calories and weight training an hour or more five days a week while in school full time and working part time. I'm so glad I clicked on this video because I really needed this. I'm one of those type A people that keepts trying harder and harder when in reality I need to sit the fuck down.

This is the type of conversation that really got me into Mind Pump. I got my life back!
@melissaloupeni10 ай бұрын
This episode was perfect timing for me! I was already suspicious that I am overtraining, and this morning I checked Mind Pump to see if there was an episode talking about this exact thing - and here it is! I easily fall into multiple of these categories. I am a new postpartum mum, I became a personal trainer during my maternity leave and have been training clients in the early mornings most days on very little sleep. I want to get my fitness and body back to where I was pre-baby and even better (particularly now that I’m a personal trainer), and I feel like I need to do something for myself after training clients and looking after a toddler all day. I’m also a very disciplined person so my consistency and diet is always on point…however I do feel like I’m starting to spin my wheels, and they may even be starting to fall off. This episode has convinced me to dial back my training, and I am excited to see how this goes for me.

Until my friend introduced me to you i was king of overtraining. Worked out 7 days a week, slept for 4 - 5 hours per night, had strong cravings for junk food etc. Than i watched yohr channel for a year and learned a lot and i look better than ever and most importantly i feel better mentaly. I am totaly different person. I even asked a girl out for a drink. The old me would never do that. I am grateful for knowing this channel.

So true, overtraining is under emphasized in fitness. Unfortunately the tough, extreme workouts are the ones that receive a lot of attention and likes on social media. Taking rest days or utilizing “trigger” days is rarely presented as part of general fitness routines

Also today was my first P.T. session with a client! I dont have any certifications or college education, neither I got paid 😂 but first time, being with a specific person for their workout. I'm going to pursuit a P.T. Health and Nutrition coach career and with MindPump by my side, I'm pretty sure I'll thrive in this space! So get ready guys, someday, I will be your guest on the show!✊

As a fitness professional, I did not want to pull my clients and my followers down, try my best to keep up my energy for them. Although I feel pain in my body, I still teach and train. Just like you have mentioned, I feel insecure about my body image. I just can't compete with the younger version of me. I appreciate this topic and all you do, from the bottom of my heart! Hi guys, I love your show. I have worked out for many years on and off but I’m getting to the point that even with a trainer I don’t see the results I want. I’m not sure if I’m doing the wrong thing or not enough. My last trainer a few weeks ago was a power lifter. I am not a power lifter and sometimes I thought I was lifting too much weight with him. I’m done ✅ with the training for 3 months and I’m still don’t have a good routine. I am tired of wasting my time and money. I’m not overweight I just want to gain more muscle and be lean. I just turned 60 and I’m very active. The only problem I have is that I have insomnia and that’s a real problem for me. I used to workout 6 days per week and now 4 days. Not sure what kind of training I should do since a lot of days I’m exhausted but I still go to the gym. I am also a traveling nurse and I’ll be having an assignment soon. The problem is that I have stopped working out when I am out of town for many reasons. Please Help! I don’t want to stop working out and loose my muscle again.

Down from 500, now 320 pounds Yes the overtrainer is 100% me lol. I had issues sticking with proper eating and consistent workouts But at some point....right around 380 pounds or so. Something just CLICKED and the fitness went CRAZY I started looking forward to the next bootcamp workout and would check it out every night before I slept. I didn't give a shit anymore about my old cravings and fast food started tasting like puke. I only took days off when my family got busy/I had to help a friend. Then around 340 I really got obssesive. I lashed out and got angry when I had to miss a workout day. I borderline almost threw out family cooked meals that they kept eating in front me. I buckled down. Extremely hard. I dropped from 330 to 316 in 14 days. Every day was a record now lowest weight. My birthday happened in that set of days and everyone was cheering me on. I can't explain to you how hard it was for me to stop but if I think if I didn't I would have just collapsed. I hit 316 and the weight didnt' budge for 3 days. On the 4th day I was so out of it instead of being 2-3 min late for bootcamp class (EXACTLY LIKE SAL SAID IN VIDEO) I was like 15 min late and just told myself fuck it and went back to bed. Stay strong friends. Have the strength to be kind enough to yourself, AND smart enough to not waste your efforts. PS - my strength did waver near the end. Kettlebell clean/press of 28k became undoable, forget trying to PR 32ks. 24ks even hurt like a #@)*

Trying to get leaner and participate in Orangetheory from 4-5 times a week ( power walk on treadmill) and 1-2 days strength there. Then CrossFit 3 times a week. I have been an athlete my whole life and now at 56 I’m retired and using Brazilian Jiujitsu ,No Gi, wrestling and striking-kick boxing as therapy. I easily loose muscle mass and gain body fat within several days. I need a better weight training program that works with my MMA training. I am unfortunately always beat up sore and exhausted from Training daily. It’s very hard to be motivated to lift weights because of the exhaustion and then I loose motivation to lift.

I came in thinking a lot of this would relate to me. It took 29 minutes of watching before anything really did and then it was me nail on the head. Now I think calling myself an ex "high" level athlete would be pushing it a little, but I swam most days of the week when I was in school and then did almost nothing until my 30s. At first I followed a very simple full body split. It was supposed to be 3 days a week but I could only recover from 1-2, so that's all I did. I think it was 6 exercises, 3 sets of each. Simple. Basic. Sensible, right? I thought so. I assumed I couldn't recover from workouts as often as I was supposed to be because I had bad recovery genetics. The actual problem though was that I would train every set to at least failure. The squats, I would be resting at the top at the back end of the set to push out more reps. I didn't even know this was considered beyond failure, I'd never resistance trained before in my life. The RDLs would give me short headaches after most sets. Even if the programme had specified to not train to failure (which it didn't), I don't think I'd have listened because that's boring and not what I knew. About four months in I injured my left quad. I just woke up one morning and my knee wouldn't bend. It was like that for about a week. It took about 2 months to be able to lightly train lower body movements again at least another 4 months after that before my leg felt close to back to normal again. I ignored most forms of pain and I tried as hard as I could, because I know what types of pain can be ignored and I knew nothing but how to train flat out. The programme's volume and frequency might appear very modest, but if it's aimed at an insecure teenager who sucks at sports there isn't an obvious reason to inform these people to not go too hard, because they simply aren't able. If a moron in his 30s who's barely done any exercise for the last half of his life, but who played loads of sports to a decent level as a kid gets a hold of it, he'll find a way to hurt himself on even the most sensible looking of programmes. I don't even mind. Morons like me will only learn from hurting themselves anyway lol. I lie, we never learn.
