Hi Nisha, thank you for the time you take to make this videos, they are invaluable and have inspired me to look into starting an importing business. For someone like me without a large capital, do you think it's best to start as an agent finding buyers in the UK for products from non EU countries or is it best to start as a distributor? If I go the route of a distributor, should I get the products packaged from source to save money? One other thing, what is the difference between an importer and a distributor?

Hi Grace, Extremely pleased to hear that my videos have been inspiring you♥️. Regarding your business route, it depends on your personal strengths and contacts. A commission agent basically will be a middleman between the supplier and the buyer. And you can negotiate the % of commission. If you have enough contacts to connect, then this could be the route. You should always remember to make a contract mentioning that you will be their commission agent and that the buyer and seller aren't permitted to deal directly. If you are good in sales or building customers, you can be an importer and stock products according to customer's orders. Customers can be distributors and wholesalers. An importer imports the products from the supplier country into the UK. A distributor will be in charge of distributing the products to the customers in the UK(B2B mostly). They will stock several brands for distribution. So will have a good portfolio of customers.
