When my audio disappears, I just pause and play and it pops back up. Now that I am more knowledgable from trial and error, this didn't help me BUT it would have saved me a lot of headache 5 years ago before I knew what I was doing. I find this super informative and QUICK for those having these problems. I like fast and to the point so I will subscribe because I'm the first to admit I don't know EVERYTHING LOL and I can always be better and learn more! loved the video!

Super useful! Thank you! I didn't know the shortcut for zooming to fit or that you could easily break apart compound clips like that. That adjustment you made around 1:00 with how the audio transitions/fades was cool too. I didn't know about that. Same thing with how to easily get out of that precision editor without reloading your video project or restarting FCP, lol.

I have an issue using final cut pro, since I've installed Ventura... there's a wedding project that now is having a all the clips shooted using the LUMIX camera, are glitchy and jumpy (like a jump cut). Hey Pietro! That's odd. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that question as that's never a problem I've had. Try transcoding the media to either optimized media or proxy media and see if that fixes it.

Premiere User here: Problem 1 - I saw this by accident. But why do you need to separate the audio track? Not sure of the purpose other than edit the audio levels. Problem 5 - Again, by accident I discovered this. It's really good one!

You don't need to separate the audio track, but if you're inserting a clip above the primary storyline into the storyline, maybe for the purposes of using the magnetic timeline, then it allows you to keep the audio already in the primary storyline and the clip you're inserting. Basically giving you J / L cuts while condensing everything to the primary storyline.

I recorded an interview using Ecamm Live and am trying to edit it in Final Cut Pro. The picture quality of the video is great in 4K, but it’s so laggy and choppy (dropped frames?) that it’s hard to watch.I set my mic delay to 6 and it doesn’t appear as though the sound is off, it’s the video lagging’s. Do you know if there’s a way to repair this footage in FCP?

@@dylanjohndickerson it definitely could be, cause I do notice it when I put on a like zoom translation or blur effect and sometimes when I use final cuts fade out. What I found to work rarely is I just do a blade cut on the spot where it’s glitching and it sometimes takes it away but then other times puts the glitch in another spot😂😪🤦‍♂️

Figured out the problem to my previous post. Looks like I am having a 32 bit float file problem. Once I re-output my audio into a more usual format I didn't have the problem. Others are not have 32 bit float issues, not sure what that's about.

That of the shift command g is very useful for me! I have a problem, Dylan. Just a moment ago I wanted to move a clip by a second and to do so I removed the two initial and final transitions. It is an isolated clip (there is nothing before or after). Now when I try to put the transitions back, it doesn't do anything. He does not tell me that there is not enough extra media. He just doesn't add them. Even if he offers me the "undo add transition" option. This is the first time this has happened to me. And it happens with any new clips I add. I just updated to the latest version of Final Cut.🤔🤨

Hey Dylan. So I just had the weirdest thing happen. I just finished an edit and the video rendered and I went to go watch it back before uploading it to KZbin and it had almost 25 minutes of blank space at the end of it from where I cut up the A role to make the final edit from. Everything else was fine. The B role was where it should be and everything else, it just rendered all that blank space so I ended up having to create a new library and go into what should’ve been the master and just cut that out and re-render it because as I suspected would happen when I tried to do it from the original timeline, there was nothing there to delete .Do you have any idea what I did wrong so I can keep that from happening again? That’s never happened to me before in all the years that I’ve been editing. It literally doesn’t make any sense. 🤷‍♂️

Hey Dylan, I thought the video was great but I am a rank beginner and my problem wasn't covered in this one. I think however what I'm experiencing might just be a glitch in the software so I'm going to quit and restart my computer. I'm creating a video with lots of clips and still photos from a vacation. I can see everything in the browser but when I try to drag them to the timeline, everything just snaps back to the browser window. They won't "stick" to the timeline! Help me plz !!! Dylan I need to finish the project I edit fcpx library on my external ssd. I stored all of my clips in SSD and edit in SSD. But Spinning Wheel doesn't appear when a little clips is imported in an event. But when I imported a lots of clips, Spinning Wheels appears everytime I touch something to edit. I tried these things: 1. Delete System preferences ( It can work sometimes not everytime) 2. copy clips to library and create proxy media ( It took a lot of time and copying clips to folder increase my ssd storage) The problem is I don't know which is the real problem. When I do ( leave files in place) and create proxy media. It still appear spinning wheel. I desn't understand why ( copy to library and proxy) doesn't cause spinning wheel and ( leave files and creating proxy) cause spinning. There's a difference between ( leave and copy) . I close other apps when I use FCPX just not to overload Ram 8gb. I tried a lots of solitions from KZbin. But I don't know which is the real problem. Plz help me. I need to finish the project within this week. Spec: Macbook Air Ram 8gb ( 2020 intel) SSD:1TB ( 500gb free Space)

I'm having a ram issue. Final cut is saying not enough ram. Now I have a Mac mini pro max with 128GB of ram. I am not missing ram. Final cut says it's using over 180GB of ram when it gives me the error. This is a crazy problem. I watched your video and am turning off background renders and clearing caches. Hey Bryant! Usually it's an issue with a plugin or some title, template, or effect on your timeline. I'd make a snapshot of your project, go through and start deleting things, and see what fixes it. Then go back to your original project and delete that.

My issue is that final cut stops playing back the timeline sometimes. It is not crashed as I can do what ever I would normally do while editing, it is just not playing back. The playback button is also looking like it is playing back but it is not and nothing moves.. Only solution I know by far is to close and reopen final cut, but that takes time and feels stupid.

Does anybody else have the problem where - while editing the viewer box just kind of "blacks out" and won't display your project??? It will let me play (Events) at the top - I can click on one and play it and the viewer shows it... but the actual projects won't display. I've uninstalled FCP and reinstalled... and that seems to clear it up (for awhile) - then after a few days it blanks out again. It only recently started doing this; it wasn't doing this last year. After installing mTracker Areas plug in, it did not work, both mTracker 3D and the new mTracker Areas. After several uninstallations and re-installations, FCP prefs deleted the problem persists : the Track button does not initiate the tracking analysing. I will have to delete completely and re-install FCP…..:-(

Agreed! This was before I got my pacing right 😅 You can go to the gear icon on the video and change the playback speed to be slower if you'd like more of a slower paced video.
