Hi Brad, thank you. Can you help me can not find to change the connector from a compound clip, the lower clip in the timeline. It is always at the beginning, but I heard it is possible to change the connector to another place. Thanks, Ernst
@Brad_West2 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s definitely possible. Hold down the Command and Option keys, then click the connected clip (or the gray border of the storyline) at the point where you want to position the connection point. The connection point will move to the point where you clicked. Hope that helps!

Thanks Brad , great tutorial !! Just an off topic question . Do you know if i can make the timeline stable and not moving up or down , left and right like other software too ?
@Brad_West2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Hmmm 🤔 I don’t think there is any way to “lock” the timeline like that. The closest you’ll probably get to what you want is to hit Shift Z to fill the timeline to the screen so you don’t have to scroll but it will still move if you swipe left/right or up/down.

Quick question...Im thinking of using compound clips to make a long clip that I have, a shorter clip in my library section to create proxy files, so I don't have to create a proxy file for an hour and a half long clip, but rather just the sections I need to..is this a practical use of them? Thanks! and great video
@Brad_West Жыл бұрын
It’s still going to make a proxy file of the entire clip, even if only a section is in the compound clip. Because proxy files are made on a clip by clip basis on not on a specific duration/selection of a clip. Hope that helps!

Thanks, it’s very useful. What you can say about compound clip organization strategy, because after some time I have a bunch of CC in my events with strange names )))) What to do with them?
@Brad_West2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I think it's helpful to always give them a name that makes sense when you create them. You can always right-click on them and rename them later if you need to try organise them later on in the edit. Hope that helps! 😄🤞🏼
@ddofborg Жыл бұрын
Is there a way to preview the whole scene (top of the timeline) when editing the compound clip? For example to see if things are well aligned with the rest of the video. So basically when I skimm, show not only footage from the compound, but how it would look if I would have went back to the timeline and skimmed there.
@Brad_West Жыл бұрын
That would be a great feature but it's not possible. A workaround would be to duplicate the compound clip and then select everything and hit V to hide everything. That way you can kind of see what clips were where in the compound clip. But you'll have to repeat the process if you make any changes in the compound clip of course. Hope that helps!

Question, I think this has screwed me up m any times. Let's say I duplicate a session. for different versions for the edits. Does editing a compound clip in one version alter the edit in the other? I really think this has messed things up for me from time to time.
@Brad_West Жыл бұрын
If you just duplicate a project, then any changes you make to a compound clip, will reflect in all duplicated timelines. However, if you duplicate a project as a snapshot, which you can do by right clicking on the timeline, then any changes you make to a compound clip, will only be made in that timeline and not any other timeline. I hope that helps. 😄👊🏼

Hi I am facing a strange issue, I have a saved compound clip, that I use to "uncompound" while using with new videos, but today out of nowhere I am not able to uncompound the clip using Shift+ Command + G. This option is not working. But if I have create a fresh Compound Clip, that I can uncompound. Then the option is working. What error is this?
@Brad_West Жыл бұрын
That’s odd. Does the frame rate of the compound clip and the timeline match? I’m not sure what the cause could be but a quick workaround would be to open that compound clip, copy everything inside, go back to your timeline and paste everything there.

I keep having this issue where when I try to transition between compound clips the transition will only attach to one clip or the other, but not between them. Anybody know why?
@Brad_West2 жыл бұрын
You probably need handles inside the compound clip in order to have room for the transition. I would open each compound clip and extend what's inside to allow for the transition.
