If you’re tired of productive habit lists including things like journaling, meditation, eating healthy, and exercising, this video is for you. By the end of this video you’ll know the 8 productive daily habits that keep me on track as a neurospicy spoonie.
If you’re neurodivergent, have mental health issues, and/or have chronic illness, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, disability, and/or invisible disability, looking for daily habits that will change your life is fraught with pitfalls. Productive daily habits are often created and shared from the perspective of people who are able-bodied, neurotypical, mentally healthy, and engaged in hustle culture. That stops here.
Watch this video next for 3 steps to becoming more focused as a neurospicy spoonie...bit.ly/3vDu5dt

What's your relationship with internal vs. external accountability?

Something helpful to keep in mind, at least in my case, is that some days I might need a spoony approach and on others not, and that's ok. Somedays I'll be feeling great and do a lot of things, and on others I'll need to resort to spoony tactics. But that's part of life.

Self care is so important! But also doesn't necessarily look like people think it does. Meal planning can be self care. Using all of your spoons to cook multiple meals in one day or cooking bigger meals than what you need so that you can feed yourself without cooking every day can be self care. For me, limiting the time I spend using electronics and making sure I'm getting a steady stream of serotonin throughout the day every single day is my biggest self care. Serotonin gives me motivation to do things and is a precursor to melatonin which is necessary for sleep.

Yup! I actually have an entire module on redefining self care in my course, because self care isn't an inherent quality of certain activities. Instead, depending on the context, the same activity can be a form of self care under certain circumstances, and can even be a form of self harm under other circumstances. Proud of you for caring for yourself! 💖

I am able to keep myself accountable for getting my to-do list done, but I do not keep myself accountable for resting like I need to and not overdoing it. I will try asking a friend to help me stay accountable to my body. Thanks for the video, and I love your focus on spoonie productivity!

Thank you so much for this video, and your channel overall. I've became very ill 3 months ago now, and I am very much a spoonie, which I never used to be so it's hard to let myself rest and give up working etc. You help me feel like I'm doing just as much as before my ilness but without hurting my body 🥰

I've really struggled to find a good youtube channel to support me where I am now, accounting for all of my comorbidities, that isn't way beyond my capabilities but still supports and stretches me to increase activities at my pace - and I think this is it, thank you 💖 really struggled to do *any* self care since the fatigue and my MH has been dire, this really helped me understand what it looks like for me now, thank you 💖

Loved the Butt in Chair video. Going to work on shifting my thinking about what count’s towards goals. I recently came down with Covid, along with being ADHD and having rheumatoid arthritis. The first half of this year has been a train wreck of unfortunate events. But I’m still trying. Today I used all the steam taking a shower and cooking. But it’s still progress.

Well, I just had to live through a training at work that completely drained the cognitive and emotional tanks, so that bit on self care was something I really needed today

Oh, I'm tired all right. So, so tired. So massively spoon'd. I literally cannot do anything. People tell me "Maria you're so gorgeous, you've got it so together" and I'm like "feh" because I haven't gotten out of bed in days nor showered in years. Yeah I look great in selfies but I'm covered in lesions

I'll admit...I'm still trying to fix myself. I got myself into remission from axial spindylitis once, it lasted 10 years, why can't I do it again?! I feel like "leaning in" is giving up. Idk. I'm trying to be kind to myself without giving up

so butt in chair is effort based not results based? if i understand correctly. huh *sits for a good while just thinking about that * that never occured to be before. i had been saying to myself and others frustrated that my results didnt match my effort snd that it wasnt fair. it never occured to me to try the reverse. its like the answer was staring me right in the face. thank goodness you are around to talk about stuff like this and tell us stuff we cant find the answer on, because of so much frustration. kinda mad at myself that i didnt realize sooner, once i stop feeling mad at myself. i think ill feel good , like a better late than never. lol.

So glad this mindset shift helps you! That's why I do what I do. It took me way too many years of my life to figure out, and I don't want anyone else to have to have to spend so much time on this, or to have to do it alone. 💖

You say that doing one chore is a gentle way to get your body going in the morning... What if this is not gentle enough? I don't want to move or do anything when I get up because that is when my pain and thinking ability is the worst
