How confident would you be of your solution being optimal if you didn’t have the optimal movecount beforehand?

not sure but when I do linear fmc I can get around 90% optimal first try if I do high effort solves and around 2/3 optimal first try if I do zero effort solves, so optimal is obvious on most positions. and pretty often I can tell when a solution feels bad and it usually turns out to be 2 moves away from optimal. but I could probably get at least 95/100 without knowing the optimal solution lengths
