And there are also many people who stopped watching baseball for years and started watching MLB only for Ohtani from last year. And there are also so many MLB fans of other teams started watching Angels games or, at least the Ohtani KZbin videos, because they couldn't help not loving Shohei 🦄 even they dislike Angels😁!

I'm a Phillies fan, but Shohei Ohtani is my favorite player right now. It is shocking to me that a starting pitcher hit 46 HR, had 100 RBI, and stole 26 bases last year. And that was just the hitting end. With his pitching, he went 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA, striking out 156 while only walking 44. He can throw 100+ mph. It's insane. Watching him (via highlights) get 8 RBI in one game just blew my mind. I haven't seen that many since Jayson Werth did it with the Phillies. 8 RBI for Shohei, but the Angels still lost 😳😳😳😳🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️Edit: Whoa, 1,000 likes. I'm very humbled. Thanks, everyone! 😊

Look up 1916-17 Babe Ruth. That will convince you otherwise. 330 Innings pitched in 1916 and ZERO home runs allowed. Even for the deadball era, that was a first. He was the first known pitcher to not give up even 1 HR, not even 1 inside the park HR in those old huge ball parks like the Polo Grounds. That is unheard of. 1.7 ERA and 9 Shutouts. Led the league in ERA, ERA+, and only gave up 6 hits per 9 IP.
@newsieboys11712 жыл бұрын
@@paysonfox88 Impressive, indeed. However, I think he was only being a pitcher at that time. Except one season when he was mediocre as both until they made him only a full-time hitter. The best way to describe Ruth is that he was a great pitcher who later became a great hitter. Shohei is playing at considerably high level as both simultaneously. I think because simply he is in better shape. If you look at Ruth, he didn't look that way. He didn't have the kind of athletic prowess to be versatile like having the speed to steal bases. Much less have the stamina to do all that in the same season.
@solitude75662 жыл бұрын
@@paysonfox88 The competition was also nowhere near what Ohtani is facing. MLB today consists of the best players from all over the world as Ohtani himself is proof of. That and baseball is big business today. Players are trained from the time they are kids with all the best medical and modern sports science has to offer. When you have such a high level of talent/skill going against each other it's harder for an individual to stand out as much as Ohtani has and you don't see guys like Babe Ruth or Wilt Chamberlin putting up video game stats anymore.

The key moment in this entire video is after his game-tying 2nd 3-run homer, in the bottom of the 9th, when Mark Gubicza said: “oh, by the way, he’s pitching tomorrow.” I still can’t get over that. Every other team would be thrilled if their best starting pitcher could get one of these sac fly outs… let alone crush multiple 3-run homers.
@anthonyg.4785 Жыл бұрын
Insane. For him to bat & pitch at a high level is simply hard to comprehend. Just wish everytime he pitches that he can get run support. In 13 starts he's 5-2 when he should've been at least 9-2. Leads the Angels in pitching in Strikeouts, Innings Pitched, ERA, & WHIP while as a hitter he leads his squad in hits, RBIs, HRs, SBs, total bases & Triples & is amongst the. Simply a once in a lifetime talent. Angels will have to fork over massive money if they want to retain him.

Ohtani has changed the game for me. I grew up playing baseball every damn day. Lived it and loved it. Then after the strikes and lockouts I gave up. I mean really, a bunch of millionaires running around playing a freakin' game arguing about a few bucks while holding their fans hostage? It was just too much to take, since ballplayers were convinced they were royalty, and I was thinking don't confuse your worth with a plumber, teacher, fireman, cop or carpenter. You're royalty in your own mind, really not needed in everyday life, and with the strikes and lockouts they proved that to the public, and the game suffered. But then a rare and humble talent comes along and turns your head back to your favorite game, and it's joyous once again. All hail Ohtani.

Extrapolate over 160 games you get 1,280 RBIs. That’s more than most player’s career total haha What an absolute monster.
