God bless Elton John. What a remarkable human being. What a talent. I just want to say to all of the Elton John fans out there, I am so sorry that this man cannot live forever. Please, please, cherish him while there is still a beat in his heart, and a breath in his lung. Imagine facing the quiescent beauty of these songs without him. It breaks my heart. We love you Elton.

It's hard not to compare this performance to his 2001 live event in Ephesus (which I adore), but I think I'm more impressed by this one. Oh, to have this beautiful audio recording matched up to a video of the performance! Triple Heaven! (... as EJ's dear friend Gianni would say :)

It is a layer from the MIDI module which is attached to Elton's piano. Even though it is a grand piano it has almost the same functions as a electric piano. So the synths plays simultaneously along with what Elton plays :)

No, he’s got got technicians that controls it. They know when to add the synth. Some dislike it since it was supposed just to EJ and the piano. Anyhow it ended up being standard during his solo performances ever since.

@@1091Floyd21 eltons piano is layered with a Roland MKS-20. The acoustic piano sound isnt even the piano you see. Its a large midi controller. It is a real grand is producing noise its just not mic'd only Elton hears it. He layers with a MKS20 and a Yamaha MOTIF rack unit to get his sound. If you have a midi keyboard at home you can purchase a program called Keyscape. It has all the samples from the MKS20 and samples of Yamaha C7 grands and god knows how many more instruments its amazing. Playing Eltons songs is so fun with the right sound!

Interesting. I figured it would be something along those lines but don't know all the tech specifics. As free and spontaneous as Elton plays I knew there was no way he was playing with pre-recorded patches. Thanks for all the great videos!
