I've been friendzoned by this guy up to a point of him calling me "a friend". And what do you know, a few weeks ago we kissed and are happy together. He explained that he just fancied me too much and was too shy to show it in any romantic way, because he was afraid of rejection. To be fair, according to this video I was treating him the friendzon style too.. So don't be afraid to show your affection due to the fear of rejection. There are people with mutual romantic interest, who end up as friends just because both are afraid of rejection to the point of acting strictly friendly with each other.
@kaboomgaming42553 жыл бұрын
This sounds kind of like me. I like way too many people to some degree, I want to get to know them, to become friends with them, but I don't want to say anything that could be in any way construed as romantic, not just because I feel like people won't appreciate it, but because I don't know if my feelings will fade. The only thing I felt remotely comfortable with was texting with my close friends that I would never be the one to initiate any sort of romantic relationship, and that I would hope that someone who liked me would actually make that obvious. Is there any hope for me?
@lizaschkolnikova94162 жыл бұрын
@@kaboomgaming4255 You need to be brave to find love. If you aren't ready to even show romantic interest, maybe you're just not ready for relationships.. because starting new romance is way easier than actually maintaining it. And it's ok not to be ready, there is no "correct" age for it.

After she get out of a multiple year relationship she would always tell me about the guys she was talking to. One of our friends made a joke how me and her should date and she said "That would be incest, he is like a brother to me". But I had developed feelings for her, didn't ask her out basically just let her know I fancy her. Things escalated and now we're dating. Turns out she had a thing for me as well, I asked her why she didn't show any signs at all and she said she was sacred since she believed I didn't look at her that way and was afraid not to weird me out and ruin things.

I’m usually a big proponent for telling your feelings to your crush. I get that it can be difficult and nerve racking but I will share the advice that was given to me and worked for me (I’m also a very shy introvert): think about the best thing that could come from you telling her. Whatever that is for, wouldn’t it be worth it to tell her? In reality, probably the worst thing that could happen is she says no and life continues as is. And you’ll have your answer and not have to worry about it anymore. So imagine the best case scenario and take that chance and tell her. You got this :)

As an introvert myself that liked a girl who is just as quiet and won't speak up unless you poked her yourself or she is very comfortable with you, just smack your chest in and tell her. I learned this the hard way but after doing so it alleviates a LOT of mental burden. Mind you she didn't say no, didn't think I was her type, or exactly friendzone me, but rather she's pessimistic about relationships for now. To be fair I shared the same views as her but I just wanted to get it out of my system and face the truth so I could stop being awkward around her.

I had the same happen to me last week. Whether it was too early or too late is not important I believe - the emotional connection is where it's at. No reason to invite someone on a date if you've been hanging out with them without a "situation label" for a while. Next time just go for the kiss when the timing is right :)

Friendship is more valuable than being in a romantic relationship. In a sense, a friend is someone with whom you can share your values, care for each other, express your insecurities, and receive emotional support without judgment or expectation. So, why do we often consider friends as less significant than lovers? If I had a fear it would be that one day one of my best friends might loverzone me😬, and I believe it would be a downgrade.

I’ve been on both sides, and both situations hurt both people involved mentally in different ways and magnitudes. If you like a friend romantically the best way is to tell them, maybe if you’re not sure about your feelings wait a few months but not more, not after you’re sure. Tell them and if they don’t return the feelings, end the friendship. They might realize they also have feelings after cutting contact as the space allows them to think more, or they might not and even be more sure they don’t have romantic feelings. Maybe if you’re really in love ask them again after a few months of no contact, and if they still don’t return it, move on. Love can’t grow deeper than an obsession when it’s one sided. It’s like a tennis match, to have fun and grow you need two players in the game. Don’t settle for anything less. Don’t stay in a mentally unhealthy situation for too long as the consequences of that will also affect your otherwise healthy relationships in future.

The best advice what you can do, if you get friendzoned is... end this relationship. There is a very high risk, that you are going to be exploited by your "crush", because they know that you are emotionally tied. Second reason is simple - you can't build a friendship, if your expectations are different. You will not be able to recover from rejection if you will be spending much time with that person. Third reason - they told you "let's be just friends", but they actually don't like you, they don't have a courage to say directly "you are not interesting for me, go away". This is not pessimistic point of view, this is reality.

@ip11363 жыл бұрын
I have to object. I have had people in my life who cared about me deepy and wanted more and I liked them as friends and cared about them, but didn't see them as anything more than friends. I didn't want them to go away, I wanted them in my life and I did respect them. The only reason some of those friendships broke was because they didn't respect that and tried to force me or convince me, which made ME feel exploited. In some extreme cases this has been going on for years until we broke ties because they could not accept that I was not going to be with them, sleep with thfm or what not just out of a good deed. But there were cases when crushes became really good friends and even more than that- we both realized we were better off as friends and that we would have been a horrible couple or would have had a very incompatible relationship. But as friends, we were absolutely fine. Sometimes you can get MUCH closer as friends than you could have ever gotten in a relationship. It depends on you and it depends very much on the other person too. Rejection doesn't always necessarily have anything to do with you. Sonetimes the people you like may simply not be a good match romantically or they don't have the capacity for a relationship, some of them may not be ready to love anyone in that way. It's not always that personal. Sometimes people are going through difficult things and would even like to fall in love or like you back but simply can't. Mental health issues are one really big reason for that. Or they may still be in love with their ex or recover from their last relationship. Again, it's very individual, some people feel ready one month after a break up to build something new, others will take 2 years or longer (neurologically, after 2 years the brain is generally ready to mix a new love cocktail 🍸). Some people are busy building a career or finding themselves and would appreciate a friend in their lives. Walking away from somebody because they don't give you what you want immediately kinda raises the question if you are actually ready to give in a relationship or just looking to find something that benefits you, your ego and your physical and sexual needs. It's about give and take though. Just because you don't get instant gratification in the way you would like doesn't mean it wouldn't be worth sticking around and try to build something honest with mutual respect and care.
@PiotrZora3 жыл бұрын
@@ip1136 Building a friendship with someone from the beginning and trying to create one after being friendzoned are very different things. As a rule, the situation gets so complicated that neither side comes out well. Even if the other person has a sincere friendship to offer, there is still the issue of emotional attachment. It's nice to have friends, but it doesn't satisfy the need for love with someone. Personally, I don't see the point of building anything with a person I had other expectations of. I have no obligation to maintain a friendship with someone when I will feel uncomfortable in it. Just because I'm interested in finding a partner doesn't mean I need "instant gratification." If I'm looking for someone to have a relationship with and the attempt turns out to be unsuccessful, I just move on and don't play any weird games.

It is somewhat weird that if you are to survive as a romantic couple, you really have to be friends as well. The main problem with the friend zone seems to be that too many people instantly put you there unless they want to "knock boots" with you when they first meet you. I do think it is rare for a woman to allow a man who they have friend zoned to actually become a romantic partner.

We both have admitted to feeling comfortable and safe around/with each other. We both agreed we feel a sense of peace and understanding when together. Well.. recently I confessed to her that I liked her deeply. That the feelings grew over time and even asked her if she'd give us a chance to see where it could go. Sad to say she rejected me. Said she only saw/sees me as a friend. Although she's admitted that I have ALL the qualities she looks for in a guy, on top of the ways I make her feel. . She just kept saying that she just wants a friendship with me. . I had no other choice but to accept and respect that.. but dang does it hurt. 😔 compared to the guys she's been with i know id be a better option but im not even an option. . She reached out yesterday to mention how she's been thinking about her ex. . An older guy. A creep. Who only wants to bust a nut.. hurts to see the woman you like do that to herself just so she can get hurt again. This is why I tried closing myself off and avoid falling for anyone. . I came across this meme the other day that goes: "Them: how do you lose a girl?" "Him: just be a good guy, they hate that shit" Thought it was funny at first until I realized I was him.. If you haven't heard of it, you should do some reading on attachment theory. It sounds like that's kinda what happened here...she probably has anxious attachment which means she'll unconsciously want to keep going back to her ex who sounds like he has avoidant attachment. It's a sad game of magnets. You weren't avoidant, so she didn't feel an attachment to you. Attachment theory is not the end-all-be-all but it can apply to a lot when it comes to relationships, and if nothing else, will help put things into a new perspective.

The only thing holding people back is the fear of disappointment and uncertainty.

It seems to me that the entire friendzone issue is a case of "YOU walk a mile in my shoes, and see how you feel". If someone thinks you're a good person to have at social gatherings, but any crush you might have on them is waved away, just wait your turn. Because 9 times out of 10, someone else will have a crush on YOU, but you will want nothing to do with them romantically. It's a vicious circle. And not that many know how to untangle themselves from it.

She once explained to me that she did it with all her friends since she has a wide variety of acquaintances from different social circles. Think I’m friendzoned too smh and I liked this girl since elementary school. I’m 31. I think she liked me at one point but I might’ve fumbled the bag

"I love you like a brother"!! The sentence that destroys the heart of the needy bloke! 🙄🙄 I certainly didn't search for this video!

Being friends is also cool. It's not bad news, it's just differant then expected.

Yeah, like,people need to stop calling it being " friendzone", like if you don't care for that person unless is in a romantic or sexual way, just leave. If you stay around complaining about a " friendzone" and getting mad that they rejected you, then you are not really being their friend, you are just an entitled prick
@crystalramos57953 жыл бұрын
I used to friendzone people all the time. I’d agree most of these are pretty accurate, especially saying to their face that they are a friend. Even with that, people like to see things through rose colored glasses.

My guy friend and I have gone through stages of friendship. At first the convos were awkward, then jokingly flirty, then fantasized because I liked him, then realistic of eachother feelings, and now we are more open with eachother and even tho hes known for years I like him, he still treats me like a good friend and were both happy. I'm still working on moving on. But its nice to have a friend who wont push me away and helps me work on it while also being able to hangout one on one as normal friends
