The signs (just in case ur too lazy to watch): 1. They try to control you 2. They don’t listen to you 3. They manipulate you 4. They constantly criticize you 5. They take things out on you

There are other red flags too: 1. They'll say not act 2. They'll let you do all the emotional talk and never take charge of being vulnerable 3. Even if they do become vulnerable, that's becs they wanted to do so, which is the third point, they will love you when they want to , and that's selfish babe. 4. The best memories you've had with them are sexual. 5. Just like in the video, they will bring you down especially by bringing your weaknesses up in public 6. Never sorry yes why? Becs they don't care and they'll rather blame you and make you feel sorry about them and fall for them again like their baby sitter. ❤️❤️

Had also a toxic ex and my boyfriend now is so good to me...I just forgot what a normal relationship should be like in almost 7 years of manipulation and emotional abuse. Have to learn how to communicate and behave in a healthy relationship again. I also try to be a good girlfiend, cause i have struggles with serious conversations or constructive criticism - get flashbacks to situations with my exboyfriend and start crying. It's hard, because i don't want to make my boyfriend think, that this is his fault. I tried to explain everything, but it's difficult to understand something you never experienced. I don't get numb of this kind of situations - it is like... i hear my ex shout at me, call me stupid/naiv/stingy/ignorant...and i feel so miserable ...again. These conversations are important and i want to deal with them in a healty way, accept criticism and say something i'm not okay with. Don't want to cry again, cause these tense situations are triggering some bad memories - i know "he" is gone and my partner means no harm.

@Adrian Fuentes I don't think of who is the guilty one and don't blame him or myselfe for everything. My ex had a few problems and i also had a few. I was to frightend to break up and spoke less with him over problems, because i felt more awful after our conversations - he apologized often, but never changed how he treated me. I never stood up for myselfe and he din't put the effort into changing his toxic behaviour. You never know what's going on in a relationship as "outsider" only the two who are in a relationship. You can't feel the same way and experience situations differently. I often try to ask myself "How do you feel now?" "What was your personal success after the break up?" - i feel more like myself and i have more energy for my own life. My personal success were my passed exams last semester. Don't blame yourselfe for things in the past! Try to understand your feelings or why you acted that or this way and learn from it. Hope your safe now. Take care

@a.m.1675
@a.m.1675 3 жыл бұрын
It is normal that you feel this way. In fact, it's far more easy to break up with a healthy person, than with a toxic one. This happens because of the trauma you've experienced + guilt for number of reasons, such as "why I didn't notice that before hand?" (you didn't know what you didn't know) or "what if they aren't like that?" (they are, and even if don't, your relationship ended anyways. And there was at least one reason for that.) or "what if it's me? What if they're right and I'm the toxic one?" (I don't know) or "what's wrong with me? Maybe I brought it on myself?" (No, you did not. Toxic people are not Santa Claus, that bring peace and joy to "the good kids" and punish only "the bad" ones... It is usually the other way around.) + you feel you can't tell it to others, because they may not understand... It is harder to get over a toxic relationship. And that's ok. And you WILL get better. You just need more time to processing what's happened. Continue looking for your way out from this mess. I wish you all the best. I wish you to find your peace

I'll second "a.m." there. Breaking up is always a rough task. It's right next door to Hell when you're breaking up with a toxic mess... especially when they're manipulative on top of your (healthy-ish) emotional attraction and connection. BUT this is the break-up, so she's an "Ex"... Exes are exes for reasons, so don't go second guessing or denying your own importance (to YOU) and go back on it... It don't seem like it now, but it WILL get easier. It's going to take a while, but "cold turkey" is the best thing. Scratch out a few notes about what was wrong in the relationship, everything you disliked, found uncomfortable, or repulsive... AND keep them where you'll find them regularly. Remind yourself in moments of weakness or regret. ;o)

@@annj2252 I have been with a covert narcissist for two years (online only) and it is hard to get out. Every time I try to end things I end up doubtful and question my decision. I believe we see the potential, and what could become rather than the reality of what is. If they haven’t changed then they won’t. And if they do change, then we don’t have to be part of their process. It is hard to let go because I end up feeling sorry for him. That he needs me, and that I am the only one who can “help” him. But while staying in a toxic relationship, I am betraying myself. The one person I should be taking care of first and foremost. 2 years is a long time to establish if someone is going to change or not. Look up codependency. Trauma bonding. Attachment styles.
@RareVariant
@RareVariant 3 жыл бұрын
it just takes time for a person to heal and go through detachment especially after spending time with someone for two years, it will be hard to move on at first and they might be the only thing you can think about, but ride it out you'll be alright you got it. also so there's no need for you to be bombarded with all these different terms, it's really not that complicated. stay strong man.

@gnarthdarkanen7464
@gnarthdarkanen7464 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that old "please use me for the money" line... I know that kind. It's code... It translates to "I pay for shit around here, so I own you at the end of the day." Seriously, your mom doesn't need to be treated like a whore... AND you're best off keeping this guy at arm's length. Clam up around him. He's no good for you either, so don't say anything more than absolutely necessary. Avoid him as much as you can, and don't let him know he gets to you. Find yourself some help if you can, even if you can't save your mom. I'm sorry, but we can't save everybody... Be careful of his "gifts" in case he decides to try "getting sweet" for you. Those gifts come with strings attached, a neverending stream of them, too. Bad as I hate to say it, take the best care you possibly can of them, and the first mention of something like "Well, I got you the X, so you owe me some respect" you can just give "X" back to him. This is ESCPECIALLY important in case his idea of respect or gratitude or a favor is something you aren't comfortable with. I don't care how petty, you don't owe nobody your soul. Favors are little things like fetching a tool or a beer from the fridge or whatever... If it makes you uncomfortable or question "right and wrong" of it, then you probably shouldn't blindly agree to it. This kind of manipulator likes to use "baby steps". Instead of just talking you into something directly horrible, he'll start with something small. BUT it's a slippery slope. Every time he gives you a hand or listens to troubles, he'll have something just a little bit meaner and more destructive for you. Nobody just wakes up one day and loads a gun and goes out to blow a bunch of people away over their "loyalty"... Even romantic couples don't just suddenly "snap" and lose all track of humanity or reality. It's one manipulative nutjob, and one slightly submissive and otherwise decent person who gets slowly twisted into another monster... Just... watch out. This could get dangerous. AND maybe let your mom know (especially after she's had some kind of hurtful trouble out of him) that she isn't a whore who gets owned by some prick with sparkly things. She doesn't deserve crap like that. AND especially if you find yourself getting rewarded by him for something you don't like or think is alright, GO TELL SOMEONE... GET HELP. ;o)

I was dating a toxic person but we broke up and we're just friends, however he's still ruining my mental health. I feel myself deteriorating the longer I stay. I keep running back to him, even as a friend, I can't cut him off. It's an easier way out when you're used to being mentally abused so you don't have to feel the void when he's gone. I'm not ready to be lonely again and I'm disgusted with myself that I can't leave. At this point, I don't know if I still like him or I'm just filling the void with his toxic company.

I think an important sign ist: They're not giving you time or space to analyze your own feelings or emotions. Someone who leaves you just because you tell them your struggles with fears ist good for your health. I've been dating someone for a month and lately I wanted to open up to them with telling them that I have a fear of intimacy and I need more time to develop strong feelings. They shut me completely down and told me that I play with their feelings when I'm unsure of how i feel. I think that's also toxic behaviour, especially when you're just dating

I got out of a toxic relationship only about a day or two ago. It hurts but venting is the only way you can tell someone everything. Just scream it if you want. It helps. Cry. Punch something. Sleep. It's okay. It's better to seem angry and sad then to hide your feelings, like I did for almost six years.

I've been through this recently. It's so painful. It destroys you . and I can't understand why people behave like that. Narcissist. Emotional abuse. Domestic violence. Being cheated. You always think "he will change. He just had a bad day" but he is killing you. Isolating you from friends and family.

i started to notice i was with a toxic person just before i dumped him. and looking back i think it’s crazy how much my love for him blinded me. he had some superiority complex that made my friends despise him for being too arrogant and insensitive. i was always being hurt by the things he did and said, but i was also the one who would always end up apologizing. it’s like I’d feel guilty for being hurt... cause he’d always say he expected more from me than to be hurt by something he did, as if i was too sensitive. actually, if i told him “this thing you did hurt me”, he would say “god, you’re so sensitive, so immature, can’t believe i expected more from you. disappointed”. and then I’d apologize lol so stupid. then i started to notice that he would lie a lot about minor things. sometimes I’d catch him in a lie and he’d manipulate the whole situation to make it seem like i was crazy for thinking he had lied. that’s the reason we broke up actually. i caught him in a lie and, when I accused him, he started to say i was crazy, i was like “there’s no point in denying it, it’s obvious that you lied. even my friends told me the truth”... so he started insulting me, saying i had to medicate, cause i was crazy, and that i was stupid and immature, he even told me to go to hell, took things out of proportion. i literally just said “I can’t be with someone that treats me like this, we’re done”. and that was it. got home, blocked his number.

Honestly, where was this channel a decade ago?! For real.. 😪 I am so glad though it exists to help young people against the horrors of toxic relationships. Thank you, Psych2Go! 🥺🙏💖 Unfortunately, I had a terribly abusive and toxic ex some years ago. I knew it was wrong, but I guess I refused to acknowledge just how wrong it was. I also dealt with issues of self-hatred, which made it harder to leave. And thus, I stayed it in for 6 trecherous years, rather than leaving sooner. It's left a scar on me.. 😓 While I am much better than I was, I have to work hard to maintain my mental health still. The healing process is ongoing for me. 🥺 Please know that they are NOT worth it, and yes, YOU DESERVE BETTER!! I hope anyone in an abusive situation is able to get out. 🙏 Remember, you are loved and worth it. 💗 And no, you cannot help someone this abusive and toxic. They are likely sociopaths and won't change their ways. So please, don't hurt yourself any further. PLEASE, GET OUT!! 😢🙏

Be the observer. Ask them why they say he’s toxic and let them say their reasons. Then spend a day with him and see if he actually is what they say. If he is then cut him completely off. You do NOT want those types of people in your life.

Observe your bf then, if he really isnt toxic like what youre claiming then maybe spend lesser time to your friends. Dont seriously take any words from ppl whos not even in a relationship, bcos the way you feel and think differs. Follow what you feel, be with someone you think youll be with for the rest of your life and if thats your bf, so be it. If ever you are wrong, your friends will still be there(if they really are your friends), if not then they never were.

So here is the thing. A relationship is between two individuals. It is not for others to involve themselves or judge a bond between two individuals. If you and your bf are happy together, and you are satisfied with him this way, then that is something your friends need to accept. They might not have dated him themselves, but that is exactly why we all have different preferences when it comes to our romantic partners. They might not like XYZ about him, and that is perfectly fine, but they have to support you if you like XYZ about him.

I was with a guy once who threatened to end himself if I left the relationship. Inevitable I left, because emotional blackmailing is so cruel and malicious. He even faked doing it and turned off his devices and had me contact the police and show them the screenshots via email, which made them rush out to his house and found him asleep in his bed without any intention of doing anything at all. The next day he lashed out on me for involving the police. At that point I realized that he was only holding me hostage in the relationship for his own sake and did not care about me and my wellbeing. Emotional blackmailing is cruel. Very abusive. What your guy is doing is emotional blackmailing too. He plays on your emotions to keep you stuck in the relationship. The fact that you are stuck indicates a codependent attachment and a trauma bond. So I stand by the first comment. Work on yourself and self love, and detach (emotionally) and you will be fine and have an easier time seeing things clearly again.
