Very excited to be back at the cabins again. Much earlier than I anticipated, but when I heard all the snow had gone and the weather was quite warm, I wanted to go back soon as possible. It's a very mild winter, or very late, we will see. I've started to built a temporary cabin inside the stone cabin, so I have a place to comfortably live in this winter.

Glad your back…been waiting. As a young girl I lived in a stone granite house on an island in Maine USA. We were the only family on the island , 200 acres with wild sheep. We only came in the summers, and winter vacations. My parents dug out the dirt in the bottom floor, and laid a granite floor. Rolled large flat granite in on log rollers, took forever. When we visited the island in the winter my dad made a large plastic room around the fireplace for extra warmth. We hauled our water in the winter from a dug well, in the summer we had a gravity feeding system. I really do not understand how those big stones on the roof work , against rain? Can’t wait to watch your roof project. I’m an old lady now….I miss my island life. I am enjoying your adventure. Best to you.

He really impressed me. He work very well, with patience in silence. This beautiful nature is a gift for the spirit. I love to work in silence to. This environment is like my country Canada in the mountains with all the seasons. You finally are going to be at home in few months. Are you going to add a sort of dry bathroom to this cabin? A shower?

I just saw that you uploaded this new - what do I even call this? short movie? Eopisode? and I was seriously tempted to watch it on my phone before going to bed. And you know what? it’s one of very few occasions where I thought “no. This guys puts so much work and energy into producing these episodes, I want to watch it on a big screen with good sound and no distraction”. So this episode is sitting in my “watch later” list and I’m excited to watch it tomorrow.

I’m glad you cleared up the mystery of the vertical stones in the lower level of your cabin. I was sure these were placed this way to secure the walls from pushing in during freeze/thaw periods. But, after hearing the explanation given by the old man, it made sense that they acted better than flat stones for drainage from the animals housed there. Great job with the series. It is riveting and has captured my attention. I’m too old for adventures like this, so I’ll live vicariously through your adventure. Thanks for taking me with you! Cheers! Whipple

It's ineffable how much your channel has imprinted itself on us, and our recent conversations. We binged all the installments until this one the moment we discovered your channel, and gasped excitedly just now to see another had been uploaded and sat down immediately to watch it. You've inspired me, and my girlfriend to transform our little cabin in the woods, clear it out and make it a home. My girlfriend just remarked that you bring us both peace and calm, and are the opposite of most of what you'll find today. Also, as we were watching, she said, "This is the kind of person I want us to meet and know in our life." I do hope we get to meet you one day!

The way you built a wooden cabin inside the stone one is very similar to how during the Great War the soldiers on the alps, on both sides, used to build places where to rest, even though more often than not they were built in galleries excavated directly in the mountains; they survived this way some of the most harsh winters in last century

Congratulations on finding such a magical place in northern Italy. Your videos are incredibly beautiful and inspiring in every way. Thank you for making them. I so appreciate not only the visuals, but the silence in them, the lack of music throughout. There is something about the fact that you are doing the majority of the work yourself, slowly and gradually, and just patiently engaged in a meaningful activity without another person. I started thinking about getting a second place in northern Italy at the beginning of the pandemic too. I have been learning the language and went once to Turin and Lago Maggiore in May this year just to get a sense of what it is all about. Watching your videos I am more than ever convinced that it is the right thing to do and will return next year with more of a plan. I am trying not to watch all your videos at once, it's hard, but I want to savor them for as long as I can! Again, thanks for sharing your experience, it is very much appreciated.

Find myself wondering about all those that immigrated from these parts. Not only how they managed the heaviness of a stone build but mountain life as well. How could they not have missed the beauty and vastness of it all and did they ever go back ....seems so many places simply left abandoned in Italy. I suppose COVID has been a catalyst for the uptake in rural abandoned properties not only in Italy but, Portugal, Spain, France... KZbinrs who've taken on these projects have really opened up my world on these rural areas of history and rugged beauty. Coming from a place in Greece similar to these mountains i really love your project and dedication and reminds me of my forest cabin (that needs a good restoration too). As a suggestion i think that the only problem with the cabins is the lack of sunlight into the livable space which is essential for cabins in such altitudes due to cold, and humidity. I understand that the structural laws in Italy do not allow any changes to the openings without a permit but how about if you add one or two skylights on the roof in the proccess of restoring it, without changing the roof design or angle? Might worth checking it out. Keep up the good work

Who said you have to have millions to live in such a beautiful location in the Italian Alps.... I’ll take your house over any other multi million euro mansion or chalet in the alps...sharing it with hundreds of thousands of tourist destroying the peace and tranquil environment...although it might a bit primitive now with some hard work and know how it will soon be a priceless property that no one could pay you enough to part with....today’s society living is over complicated and a lot of waste...going back to simple minimalist living with all the basic needs to live comfortably is all we need....being able to grow your own food and generate your own power consumption needs is very rewarding that is back to basics living true living in my opinion....with modern technology life can be lived quite comfortably without unwanted waste on natural resources and own personal needs....all the best to you Martin I truly love your channel and the content you produce....god bless and stay safe

Stunning cinematography on this episode. I don't know if it has been time between episodes or something changed, but I really appreciate the effort you put into recording and all the editing. Enjoy the project!
