i actually kind of need some help figuring out where i am, so i’m 15 and have been dancing since i could walk, i’m a self taught dancer and the base of my dancing mainly comes from waving and popping, i pick up some new moves and things throughout my life span by, i guess you could say “studying” other people dance, or just watching them, whether that be on instagram, youtube, movies such as: step up 1,2, & 3 or so on. but recently i’ve been wanting to dip my toes into some new genres of dance such as tutting, and really taking control of the little movements of my body, i have pretty good musicality and my flow looks pretty nice but i’m not sure where at on the scale i am. i would love to make dance my life long career because i’ve had such a passion for it since i could walk and i love music with everything in me. i just don’t know where to exactly start with trying to meet my goal.

I practice 2-4 hours a day, at least 4 times a week, every week. 🥴 sometimes I get really tired and don’t want to dance, but the only way I got better was pushing through the laziness. Now I’m a level 5 dancer. The days I’m not busy dancing, I’m busy singing, these two things take up a lot of my time 😂

I started at a skill level 1 about almost 2 years ago and I practiced every day for about an 1 and a half and now I'm a level 3 almost at a 4...I learn lots of choreo online and watch multiple videos on how to become better with movements and mindsets...it's a really fun progress because once you get that first combo down without messing up after practicing for so long, that sense of achievement becomes addictive and all you want to do is work harder to get that feeling again

I challenge my mama, my friends , everyone to give me a 8 count on the spot & i do it right back at them to catch on to choreograph fast . I work on my memory by constantly learning dances on my own on KZbin. & i master my perfection by Finding the dancer i am & getting out my comfort zone ❤️ #FutureDanceChorographer!

It's always been said that before you dance, you have to learn your basics, but how do I know my basics? Are dancing basics the same for everyone, or are there those specifically for a certain group of people? What are examples of the most essential dancing basics?
@lilacfloral1
@lilacfloral1 5 жыл бұрын
The basics are the fundamentals of style. For example, the basics in Hip-Hop are popping. By learning popping, you'll strengthen your fundamentals which will help you a lot when you are learning hip-hop. Everything is connected in one way or another so learning everything that you can can really help you improve as a overall dancer. "Are dancing basics the same for everyone, or are there those specifically for a certain group of people?" Well basics could be different for everyone (based on opinion), but in general, the basics like I said earlier really are the fundamentals. Examples of fundamentals would be training your arm hits, leg hits, basic arm wave, simple footwork combinations, tutting combos, dimestops, etc. The most essential dancing basics could be some that I listed there, but here is a list that I think will help (Popping/Hitting, Waving, Isolations, Footwork (ex: House, Shuffling, etc). Grooves, & Tutting). Other styles/techniques that I think will help a lot are Animation/Robot ( includes ticking, strobing, vibrating, dimestops), Fixed Points, Miming, Locking, and Boogaloo. There are more but those were the ones I think are really important. I made a whole post on reddit (best to read on the computer) that shows a whole guide to learning how to dance. old.reddit.com/r/Dance/comments/b0uqbd/learning_how_to_dance_official_guide_my_library/ I included lots of different sources (including lots of Steezy videos and articles) that have helped me and so many dancers. Hope this helps and have fun :)

I recently started to get serious about dancing (mainly as a hobby + within conventions and such) and since I started to dance practice nearly everyday for about a month or so for 2+ or hours - sometimes 5, I noticed that I went from a 1 to nearly a 3 in about a month and had no idea that there was even a scale! Thank you for posting these videos, they really do help along with this video as well. It seems like I am doing everything correct including making sure I start correcting any and all bad habits and developing my own style. I was worried that I was lagging behind or not doing everything I can to get the most out of the few hours I have to practice but it seems like I am doing okay so far. I am excited to see where I will be one year from now and also to meet other dancers as well. One of my goals for next year at a convention that I sell art in, is making it into floor wars. :)

This is an exercice. I’ve performed several times in front of people for many years. It took me repetition to finally get comfortable. Each time you dance in front of people, exercice yourself to be comfortable, chill, confident, restrain yourself to stop wanting running away. And think about that: you are the one that offer them a show, don’t look at yourself, try to communicate with your art towards them, not towards you. At a certain point, you’ll feel comfortable. I hope it can help. 😊

I tried the STEEZY formula this year (January 2021-present) I take at least one class on the platform at least 5 days a week with breaks in training when needed. I was honestly skeptical of this concept when I watched this video way back when it was published….. but I have gotten significantly better from where I was as a dancer, teacher, and artist from the beginning of this year to now…. I have unlocked movements that I never thought I would come to understand. I have seen growth in how I teach my students and well as my Choreography retention has skyrocketed. Thank you guys for providing what you do and I look forward to continuing my consistent journey with y’all ❤️❤️

I am a very inconsistent dancer but I've been dancing for a bit less than five years usually one hour a day 4-5 times a week. Practicing about 2-4 hours a day when performances/auditions are coming up and having frequent periods of zero dancing for weeks on end. Now I'd say I'm at a comfortable intermediate level. I'm heading towards advanced in some aspects and falling short of intermediate in others. But by now I have gotten a taste of what it means to be a "good" dancer. Magically looking good sometimes without having to clean and just knowing exactly how to do a move just from seeing it. It's nice to see progress. I've been a self taught dancer until a couple of weeks ago but now I'm finally going to classes. Can't wait to see even more progress!

Thanks STEEZY. Question. I am often so busy at my school it’s hard for me to find a 30 min session out of the day to dance. However, every 25 mins of studying, I take a 5-10 min dance break to clear my mind. Since I’m studying for 8-10 hours a day, that accumulates to at least 80 hours. Even though those dance practice sessions are broken up in segments, do they still count for practicing 30 mins everyday?
@PeevesMarvelous
@PeevesMarvelous 5 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about the minute, the really thing you must to do is The Consistency. You can do 5 min dance practice everyday, because like they say,"Practice make Permanent". You train your muscle to remember. So it's no problem to do 5 min a day, the important one is The Consistency. Ps: But if there are people practice 30 mins a day, he/she will be better than people who practice 5 min a day, right?

So I’m almost 40 years old; I’ve always loved to dance and danced as a child throughout HS. But that was also 100 years ago. So I’ve been doing a ton of research and I think I’m ready to start taking classes. But here’s my biggest question- Am I too old to start over like this? Have you seen more “mature” adults take your classes and succeed? If so, I’d love to hear more about that. Last question is, where should I start with regards to classes? I’ve been on your website a ton of times. So I’m aware of the many classes you offer. But I was hoping you could help me narrow it down a bit. Thank you so much in advance and I look forward to your response. I think you guys are absolute genius’s!!... Not just for your talent. But for creating this amazing app.

I have a video request! Since you are a dancing based channel, can you perhaps do a video on kpop dancing? Kpop dancing is very, very popular these days, and their choreographers are people you frequently mention or feature on your channel (Sienna, Keone Madrid, Kyle etc) I'd really appreciate if you could make something like that! Also I'm pretty sure it would get more views than your average videos cause in the history of kpop, it has never been bigger on a global level, and kpop dance is a crucial part of it all. Hopefully you'll take it into consideration!

I have been taking dance classes and following youtube videos for the past two years now. I can memorize counts and follow choreography pretty quickly. The past three days I have scheduled my days to allow 2-3 hours of dance practice, and I'm already seeing a huge improvement. But, when I dance in front of anyone I go back to my first stages of dancing... I get so nervous that I forget everything...

And I would get stuck and want to stop but felt like I had to keep going to ensure I'd memorize the choreography. I'm currently sitting at level 3 and it's been about a year or two since I've taken dancing seriously. Hopefully I'll make it to level 4 soon 👍

some tips: you wanna learn a dance but you don't know how to do this certain move, it just doesn't work? well practice it everywhere all the time, like in the kitchen while you're searching for food or in the bathroom before you're about to shower. it helps you a lot, and don't forget the mirror, you need it. dance with the mirror, if you can't always then when you have free time. go to the biggest mirror in your house and practice some moves or whole choreos. it's really important to do so when you're just starting out, it might seem like your legs are at the right spot or your arms are high up but really they're bent and your legs are together. don't be scared of the mirror it will help you a whole lot and you'll become more confident.

@hunnqy3102

@@holycow8155 tbh same i look great in front of a mirror but when i film it i look like a dancing chicken. the reason for that is i think if you're dancing while watching a video you're more focused on looking at the dancer instead of your own movements. also possible that you get stiffer and you lose control of your body because now you're trying to film yourself and make it perfect. i think it's important to learn the choreos well and focus on your movements while not over doing them and not getting too stiff. in front of a mirror you also see yourself well, you know exactly how to do certain moves so it's important to remember how your body moves while in front of a mirror and then try to dance without seeing yourself. hope this helps!

I think those should be multiplied as you become more advanced. Example: I think you can get to lvl 3 relatively quick but going from 3-4 I think takes a new level of grind and probably longer than six months. And I think mastery is 7-10 years minimum regardless of how much you train. Just a quick thought from someone a year in

I started dancing when I was 4 and im now 17, but I haven't danced in 4 years and it hurts not gonna lie. In those 4 years I've been really wanting to do hiphop and break dance since, but there are no good dance studios where i live, and i don't earn enough money to be able to pay for things like STEEZY. I have a background in dancing and lots of experience, but bc i haven't danced in ages I'm really rusty. I don't know where i should start from and i don't know how long to practice in order to become as good as I used to be.

i actually kind of need some help figuring out where i am, so i’m 15 and have been dancing since i could walk, i’m a self taught dancer and the base of my dancing mainly comes from waving and popping, i pick up some new moves and things throughout my life span by, i guess you could say “studying” other people dance, or just watching them, whether that be on instagram, youtube, movies such as: step up 1,2, & 3 or so on. but recently i’ve been wanting to dip my toes into some new genres of dance such as tutting, and really taking control of the little movements of my body, i have pretty good musicality and my flow looks pretty nice but i’m not sure where at on the scale i am. i would love to make dance my life long career because i’ve had such a passion for it since i could walk and i love music with everything in me. i just don’t know where to exactly start with trying to meet my goal. i also got into shuffling for a couple years, a year ago, so i also have that as well. but i really want to be able to show and lift the music up with my performance and captivate people to show them the beautiful part about dance, to inspire others, make them feel as though they are watching a story pan out.
