I grew up with my mom sewing everything so I was introduced to sewing at a early age, however, now that I'm at the point of wanting to make a quilt for each of my children I don't have my sweet momma to ask. So, I thank you for stepping in and answering the questions I had. If I could give you a huge hug... I would...XOXOXO

I love the quilt and I have tried flange binding before, and you're right, it always makes a quilt look special. I'm not a fan of the texture of tight, fancy quilting like yours, so I don't do FMQ. (Not all of us have a big machine like yours with the huge throat, so we're limited on what we kinds of quilting we can do.) But, the idea of having the dividing sashes across the quilt would definitely make it suitable for Quilt-As-You-Go in large sections, top to bottom. Thanks for all the hints. It is a beautiful quilt.

I really like your tutorials. You are always so detailed with your instructions that I thought I'd give this one a try. Unfortunately, I can't get the template to come out to meet your measurements. I'm 1/8 inch off! I've used scrapbook paper to get the 10 x10. I started with a thicker kind of paper (not cardstock) and I was off 1/8 inch. I thought paper thickness can make a difference, I tried a thinner 12 x 12 paper but, I'm still 1/8 inch off. I followed your instructions, step by step. I'm not sure what can be causing me to be off. Any insight you can give would be appreciated. Thank you for inspiring others to pursue their hobbies!
@TheSewingChannel
@TheSewingChannel 2 жыл бұрын
When you mark the middle are you adding only 1/4" before cutting? I do think a thinner paper will give you more accuracy....the only other thing could maybe be....when you mark your x on intersection...or maybe ...when you first make it-there are no dog ears...you need to add that into the equation? when I laminated mine...I went all the way to the point of dog ear. does that make sense?

Thank you Nancy. The text for size is on the screen in the video....but I believe the orange was 1.50" and the blue was 1.75" (the smaller width is the one that will show most of the color...the wider/1.75 is the faux piping color)🧡

@@TheSewingChannel So do you have some Greek or Italian in your background how come your hands are so tanned? Because after all I know you don’t live in Florida or California lol. Are you going to be on Saturday night? Yes I really like the flange binding I’ll have to watch it again because the info didn’t stay on the screen long enough so sometimes it’s tricky to even pause the video if it’s only on for a split second. It seems like one strip needs to be a different width than the other? ** I haven’t had enough coffee yet today I just realized I can slow down the playback speed and that was really helpful because of the way you were attaching the binding at the beginning**

@@TheSewingChannel I was just concerned about you. Don’t get me wrong I could watch The Sewing Channel everyday, or wait... I do over & over again. It is my happy place while I am at my sewing machine, on the couch, sitting on my front porch, showing my Quilting class and 😳 when I am not driving or sleeping! 😁 Thank you for letting me know all is okay. You do have a right to be off and enjoy your summer and sweet granddaughter! LY, Your Okie Friend
