My mom raised 12 children. Our home was emaculate, she served 3 meals a day and she was always, always pleasant and kind. After I was married and had a couple of children, I asked her, " mom, how do you do all you do?" She answered, " You just do it."

(Melanie here) I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but I have reached so many of my life goals that I have to come up with some new ones, I guess! I have a happy marriage and raised 3 wonderful daughters who I enjoy spending time with. I got my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology after my kids were older and work PT as a therapist. I absolutely love watching my grandchildren also. I am doing some writing - mostly about answers to prayer and how I have experienced walking with God over the years.

Ephesians 5:15-16 "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. " This is my favorite quote. I make the best use of my time when I remember how Jesus died for me and saved me from my sins. He redeemed me and I now live with a purpose. We are called to live for God, to live as children who have been redeemed. Thank you for all of your inspiration. All of your quotes and helpful hints are very helpful.

So true. My girls always wanted horses and we always pushed the thought away but last year started slowly taking steps to secure our property for horses. We studied everything about horses as well in that time. Many people said we couldn't do it. We didn't know how to own horses. Well, we got two horses a month ago and we are learning as we go. We just needed to DO it instead of saying oh no ...we could never.

It’s totally true that many people don’t understand how much work goes into creative activities! I have occasionally had people say, “ Oh, you sew… could you hem these pants ( alter this dress, make this costume, etc.)” without realizing how much work they are asking me to do! We tend to underestimate the work others do, unfortunately.

I loved this video Jennifer! At 75, I still use a planner to keep on track ,(my favourite being the “Clever Fox “ planner). With your inspiration, I wrote every quote you used in this video into each week of my planner ,under the main heading “this week’s main goal”. Planning makes my life possible as I have a very large home and property with horses,dogs,and chickens and I live alone. I do have some help from an adult son and hire someone to do the heavy stable chores, but still my days are busy! Many thanks for all you do to help us set and maintain high standards in our lives! I have to be honest, I used a Franklin planner while I was in corporate America but the Clever Fox was unknown to me until just now. Perhaps I should investigate this? These are great tips Jennifer. I love lists as well. A tip I learned from my sister is to keep a list of chores that need to be done but you always put off. Not the daily or weekly things you always do, but the ones that you never get to (for me things I hate to do like cleaning blinds, wiping baseboards etc). Break them down into small time chunks, i.e, ‘Clean blinds in the bedroom’ or ‘wipe baseboards in the bathroom’. Then when you have 15 or 30 minutes pick one and just do it! You can put them on slips of paper in a jar and pull them out at random. Doing this is a much better use of time than picking up your phone and scrolling Instagram 😀

I thought all of the quotes and tips were excellent but the best for me was the idea of investing time vs spending time. No matter what anyone's goal is, if they invest time in that thing every single day, be it 10 minutes or 5 hours, they will be one step closer to achieving their dream.

Thank you for the quotes and inspiration. A wise older woman told me that time is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer you get to the end the faster it unravels. Making my list and putting the tasks in its time block was life changing. It's was so important I understood my energy rhythm.

Great advice. I do journaling and have written my autobiography, however not published. I’m guilty though of waiting for inspiration for doing my oil painting,lol. Me too. I have wasted so much talent. Friends tell me I’m talented at painting and I can see it, yet I have wasted so much time not doing it. I even wasted opportunities as a young student to work for magazines doing art. I have found now at the age of 39 that self sabotage is something that we don’t even know we are doing to ourselves. I often dwell on the what did I do this? And what if I had done this? But no more. I love my family and I know I’m at the place God intended for me to be. Now I just have to DO SOMETHING.
@virginias58
@virginias58 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheDailyConnoisseur you have inspired me because I just jumped in and began a new painting today. When I sometimes go back and read parts of my story , I wonder how I had time to write, paint, do the usual housework, etc.and raise three wonderful children while working full time. I believe my time management was a lot better back then. Since I retired, I usually say to myself, ( whether painting or anything else) I’ll do it tomorrow. I have to remember why we call today “the present” and perhaps tomorrow might not be an option,lol.

If I don’t get enough sleep at night the next day will not be as efficient. To start the day before sunrise just makes all the difference. I start my day kind of slowly and gradually increase the pace. Working from a list is very good for me. The list will contain a balance of work and relaxation. I do best in a quiet environment free from distractions. A great resource for Time Management is Brian Tracy. Thanks 🙏 Jennifer! Days fly by at my age. It’s scary!

Love is the key. You have love and it makes you serious about it. When we have love in our hearts, all sorts of (healthy) love, it leads us strong enough to be active. When we love to love (God, life, nature, beings) it is even deeper. When we love to love in the name of God it is , I think, the most powerful fuel for human being. Thats the phase in which things go so smooth, with blessings and energies from above, literally miraculous, that day after day looks more and more like poetry. I don't know how to describe it. And it starts by constant thinking of God and His creation all around us, by gratitude for all of it, and our conciousnes grows and then our love. And our own heart transforms us safely , being attached to Him, Who is Life.

What a perfect video for Labor Day weekend! I love it that you opened with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland because it is one of my favorite childhood books, and I totally agree with the Mad Hatter. I choose to invest my time with reading mind-stimulating books, learning coding, and practicing piano, not wasting my time on reality programs or scrolling endlessly and mindlessly on social media. Thank you Jennifer, I really appreciated this video. Nicely thought out, I took notes and intend to come back and say to myself some of these things. Its is so important to manage our time. Time is precious, it is a gift for us to spend, I hope invest it more and not expend it.

Excellent quotes! Good ideas on time and how to view it. It is so true that it changes as you get older. Thank you for your sense of perspective.

It’s so good to hear from you ladies who know how to get things done! Would you ever talk about how to get over wanting to do something but feeling like no one really believes in you or is really rooting for you? I don’t know how it was for you, and for some people that wouldn’t affect them but for others it really does and we may just continue to bumble along

This was so good, Jennifer! You shared and spoke so eloquently on a topic that I usually find to be so dry. I was actually sad when the video was over. This would be such a good idea for one of your courses! I would definitely invest my time into that! ❤️

I am reading About Time - A history of Civilization of Civilization in Twelve Clocks by David Rooney. This is a deeply fascinating topic. Man has not always thought of time in the way we do today. Various timekeeping methods have changed our perspective on time. Take a look at this book !

Hello! Thank you for your videos, they’ve been incredibly helpful. With the holidays approaching, could you please do a breakdown of time management when hosting not only a lunch or dinner, but also guests spending the night(s)? As much as I love hosting, it’s such an exhausting and overwhelming process that I either don’t want to host or am too tired to enjoy any of it. I’ve watched all the hosting videos of yours I could find, but I’d love more specifics of how to prepare the week before, three days, day of, etc. Thank you!!

Some people think that when they worrying they do something. It is toxic. When you need to worry, do it. But do not think that you started doing something with the situation just because you are worrying!

I also studied abroad and found it to be life changing. If I were to say to myself ”I could have done that”, it would have been out of surprise. I am constantly surprised that others would have interest in my life experiences. I am not realizing that I have a lot to teach or share. Thank you for sharing this. You have given me the impetus to explore how I may invest my time in a way that shares my life experiences and knowledge with others.
