8 to 6 Lug Conversion. Wheel adapters proper install

I did a 3/4 ton axle swap, which is awesome because now I have a 14 bolt rear end and it’s heavy duty, but now I have 6 lugs in the front and 8 in the back and i want to use my old rims and tires, so I got wheel adapters! They run for about $130 for 2 and give me 2” of spacing match the front. These ones for Chevy are 8x6.5 to 6x5.5

You should really Lock tight and torque the adapter to the hub (drum-rotor)after you clean it up a bit with a cookie disc or wire brush.

It is a Drum not a rotor, also never put any lubricant between a rim,spacer and the drum. Also torque down the Allen headed set screws

I cringed when you didn’t clean/prep the surface of the drum before you put the spacer on with anti-seize and then when you put the nuts on the spacer and didn’t use a star pattern it made me cringe as well, I hope they held up though, hopefully they didn’t fall off. You gotta be extra careful with spacers.

I can’t give you a direct link, but I can tell you how to find them. Just look up - 8x6.5 to 6x5.5 Wheel Adapters. Put that into Google and go under Shopping and make your choice of vendor. I believe for a set of 4 they’re running about $300. Be sure to go back and tighten them after driving awhile.

So those Cone shaped lugs are for Lug centrics, and your 8 adapter had flat bottom holes for Hub centric Lug nuts, not supposed to mix...Yikes...

I bought mine off EBay, I believe all I looked up was - 8x6.5 to 6x5.5 Wheel Adapters. I would suggest buying a high quality one as-well, mine held up great!💪🏻

Why wouldn’t you just replace the front wheel bearings with the 8 lug wheel bearing

I considered that at first, but the 6 lug is wheel bearing has 3 bolts to secure it where as the 8 lug has 4, thus not interchangeable. The only alternative is a axle swap but not everyone has the equipment, time, or money to do it, making this the cheaper and easier option. She lasted awhile as well, with plenty of off-road abuse.

Lug bolts 125-140 ft lbs spacers hex bolts that holds the tires maybe at best 30 ft lbs 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
