Hi Angela, we are in Arizona. I am raising my grandson and have homeschooled him for 7 years. He starts 9th grade next year. We began personal finance this year, pretending he's a 20-year-old, working as a video editor in Seattle with a roommate. He has a budget book from Amazon with plastic pouches to divide his expenses. We have fake money that looks real. He has a mailbox near his room, and with AI, I developed bills, letters, and advertisements daily. He even has a stuffed cat (which looks like it has been hit by a truck) that gets in trouble quite often. Those cat bills are the best. Anyway, thanks for everything you do. I've been watching you for years.

I love this!!!! I’m stealing this idea for my 3 boys. Especially love the cat part. My oldest’s favorite animal is a cat but when we got him a pet one, which was basically his best friend and played a type of tag, climbed trees, and cuddled with him, we learned he is very much allergic to them. So, it might be a little outlet for that desire.

Advocating for yourself is such a good skill to have. In a medical setting, it isn’t unusual for the doctors or other staff to not do something or not tell you something because they assume somebody else on staff has already done it or told you about it, so being confident enough to say, “This hasn’t been done yet. When can I expect it to be done?” or “How long should I take this?” is an incredible asset.

I so so so agree with teaching older girls about safe situations. In college i went on a first date with a guy i had just met, got in his car and he drove for almost an hour to a completely secluded spot. Luckily he really did just have a beautiful sunset spot that he wanted to show me but looking back i cannot believe how trusting I was.

I had a similar thing happen and I started to realize how stupid Inhad been and a little panic set in. I said “hey do you want to go watch a movie l?” and being the pervert he was, said YES! and he took back off towards his room on base. Once there I made an excuse to leave the room (I need to go get dvds) and never went back. He came into my work a couple weeks later under the guise of needing help for his animal and I hid in the back. Thank God I got out of town shortly after that. Yuuuuuck my stomach does flips thinking about the whole scenario. Total manipulative creep!

I completely agree, I want to teach my kids to advocate for themselves. I used to really struggle until I had a son with severe asthma. He had 16 hospital stays in his first 3 years, just had 2 more the last 2 months. I know his asthma better than anything else in this world. I was constantly fighting doctors when it was time to take him home, so I got the American Academy of Pediatrics Pulmonology textbook and it proved everything I had advocated for in the past. Now it comes with me and doctors tend to really dislike me. Idc, I know my kid better than they do. If we were new to everything that’s one thing, but I know how he works and I will always advocate for him and his mental health. The meds he’s on that worked to keep him out of the hospital for the last year are due to MY research. My hours of dedicated time. Not the 5 pulmonologist who saw him before that.

All great topics. Please do a series on all these topics presented. Social media has made a lot of these topic show up before parents are ready in simple things as KZbin videos. Apologetics are a must 1.Teaching your kids how to advocate for themselves with health is so important. I have watched my older kid talk and advocate for her younger sibling. Even been outraged when our pediatrician looked up symptoms on google. 2. Having our girls and boys learn about personal awareness, paying attention to what is around even with family. 3. Cooking/baking 4. budgets and personal finance 5. Internet safety/bullying 6. Time management

Love this! Homeschooling mom of 4 boys here, ages 16, 14, 12, and 10. It's refreshing to hear you talk about the different types of kids and helping them find what works best for them. As a very organized type-A mom with a teenage son who can't seem to plan two minutes ahead, I too often find myself with unrealistic expectations of him. It's especially difficult when you see other homeschool moms whose teens seem so motivated and smart to look at your kid, like what the heck is wrong with him?! I love how you remind me once again that I am homeschooling so that I can meet each child where they are. It's easy to forget sometimes, even after all of these years of homeschooling.

Hello! I'm watching from Detroit, Michigan. We homeschool our 5 children - 18, 16, 14, 9, 8, and we're graduating our first child this year. I am so proud of her and all of her hard work. She plans to become a nurse and spend her life working with women and children and helping to promote a culture of life. We've been homeschooling our kids since she was in 2nd grade (11 years total), and it becomes so clear how God always shows His faithfulness to His children. Also, thanks for your channel Angie. You've given me so many ideas throughout the years. Appreciate it 👍🏽

Hei! I’m following your channel from England. I started home educating my 6 year old boy in September last year (2023), so very new to all this. I did a lot of thinking and research before I stepped into all that and I think that’s how I stumbled on your channel as well and I’m very grateful for that. I’ve had to start teaching my young kids (I also have a 2 year old daughter) safety and being aware of their surroundings. It’s absolutely crazy but I’d rather want them to be safe. I was taught that from a very young age as well and that has got me out of potentially life threatening situations a few times (I grew up next to the soviet army base so it wasn’t the safest areas) 😊

This is sooo good! A lot of stuff can be done while on walks with the family. It's pretty cool, just in conversation. Yesterday, my daughters were asking about the clouds and why there are "lines" in the sky. So that was cool to talk about, safely would be a great topic to talk about as well. I have 7.5 year old girl, nearly 6 year only girl, 2.5 year old boy and currently pregnant. Early years in life! But I've been homeschooling since day one! ❤ I never learned how to study either and it was obvious when I was studying for my RN license. I got by, but I don't like just getting by when it's the health of people! Ooooo last one is soooo good and sooo important love that!

Great list!! In the same veins of advocating, researching, and marketing I’ve been teaching my kids how to read food and product labels. With the bombardment of tricky marketing in our supermarkets that are full of fake food and the toxins in all of our body and home products, I’ve found it essential to educate my kids on label reading. It’s a tough job, but my kids are soaking it up and learning what to steer clear of.

I have a 13 yr old, I'm definitely looking for personal finance but really ALL that you've mentioned. I just don't know what to use to teach those things. I seriously laughed out loud when you said good or bad we learned personal finance from our parents...yes, I have zero knowledge of it all! We are starting a self defense class this summer. I know some people will clutch their pearls because they shield their kids from everything, but we watch true crime together (usually 48 hours or 20/20) and discuss it and how things could have been avoided, etc. It's a scary world and we can't shield them from reality. We are taking a studying/organization class in our Co-Op this fall. I feel that this time of middle school before high school is the perfect time for this. Thanks for this video and the reminder of such important topics.

I have ages 1-13 :) For a future video idea, would love to know some strategies with being more behind as a result of just not getting through enough material with all the loud littles!

I’ve been following you since I started homeschooling in November 2023 and enjoy all of your content! We’re located in south Mississippi, 3 boys: 10yo finishing 5th, 6yo wanting to attempt 2nd 😬, and a very wild strong willed 2yo!

My oldest brother learned to cook so well that in college his roommates paid him to cook (i.e. they would buy the groceries and he would cook so he didn't have to spend any money on groceries). Yeah, I wish I would've put more effort in tthat. When you bring up finances, what are some questions that your kids ask and want to understand better?

I am Polish living in England. Here we have a lot of freedom as a home educators and it is somewhat hard because noone is forceing anything on us so I am always worrying that my children do not do enough. Also my English is not the best so I am worrying about it (actually my 6yo dayghter has recently started to correct my pronunciation!). I am doing Polish circullum with them as well and the differences between schools programs are quite big so also in this area I am confused. In Poland they start school at age 7 and in England at age 5. I watch you for a different perspective and love your videos 🙂

Hi! Watching the recording from England! 🇬🇧 Navigating Middle and for the first time, High School! Although we are British, we are doing the American High School Diploma - so much better than what the UK has to offer! 😊

Texas.. raising a granddaughter.. currently in public school and very dissatisfying. I’ve struggled leaving her in public school. I own two businesses and can totally fit in schooling my granddaughter. Financial background and have multiple types of investments. Texas is leaving our kids behind… they are failing our kids. Only worried about STAR testing.. very sad. Definitely been on my heart to homeschool her, but no idea where to start.
