My first bike was a 02 Yamaha r1 back when I was 19 now I’m about to turn 25 and I still have it and a 04 Honda shadow. I want an upgrade though and it was between a Vulcan a boulevard and a vtx but I can’t decide which one I’d like better. Mainly want it for traveling long distances comfortably and without the rpms up there. Got any recommendations?

Weekend Warrior here. Just started riding 2 years ago. I have a 2 year old, a pregnant wife, and a full-time job. For context, I am also a combat vet, which I only bring up because I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone. I ride to work when it's nice out and on weekends. My first bike was a Suzuki C90 and bought a 2009 Heritage Softail with 3200 miles on it last summer. It's an amazing bike and I will have it for a long time.

I belong to an MC but I agree, the long distance ride is at the top of the cake. I met a 79 year old biker that just got back from Southern California to Nova Scotia. 12 k round trip. This is how he lived. I'm 77 and ride about 4 times a week, but this guy was definitely at another level. He did all this riding on a 79 moto guzi. Owned it since that time.
@langhamp891210 ай бұрын
I'd put the long distance rider below the "guy who has a motorcycle as his only form of transportation." Rain, sun, snow, sleet; he's out there every day commuting on the weekdays and riding for fun on the weekends. One guy I met in Northern California was one above that. He had only a sportbike, rode it everyday to work, did Sunday morning rides, and frequently raced it (not a trackday but genuinely raced in one of the AFM classes) each year. I can't even think of the consequences if he crashed his bike.

Work 40+ a week (Harleys ain't cheap,) family events, etc. I ride everyday to work, and run basic errands on my bike, if it doesn't require a pickup. I wrench on my own bike too, but I can't put down serious miles until my days off. How anyone can afford a Harley, have time for a family, and be committed to an MC is beyond me. I guess if I was single I could swing it, but I guess weekend warrior here too.

Personally, I like being independent but I don't mind riding with friends and having fun. For me it's all about freedom and and being able to destress from everyday life. Many, many years ago, like 34yrs ago when I got out of the army, I started college at UT in Austin. My old ford truck died on me and so my only transportation was a triumph tiger, ~1975. Anyway, I had so little money I owned only one pair of Levi’s. Those were my only pants. I mention the triumph because it required quite a bit of work to keep it going. My knees and butt were worn out and torn from working on that bike. But those were such good times. No money, but life was good! We did always seem to have enough money for beer. Funny how that works.

I ride as often as I can. When time permits I’m a long distance rider. When work is slammed busy I’m a weekend warrior. I was into club life at one point. Now the happiest I am is when it is me my ride and the road. Whether I ride 10 miles or 1000 I still love it no matter what.

I've hung the shopping bags from the bars. Trays of dogfood sat on my lap. I must look a sight 😂

I've been riding for 47 years. Burned out on the drama years ago, now I'm a lone wolf weekend warrior with a few friends I ride with on occasion, I ride when I want to not because I have to. current ride is a '05 FXDI... bare bones.

I’ve transitioned from a long distance rider to a weekend warrior now. To me a ride was a minimum of 100 miles but now life changes and I have a family now so my priorities have shifted. One day when my kids are older and I have the freedom to ride far again I will be a long distance rider again. And maybe my kids will be riding their own bikes next to me.

Sose, you’re a True Outlaw brother. Your knowledge and life experience gives you the aura that you get respect as much as you give. You hold your own and those around you respect you because you respect them. I work from home, but I also travel a lot for work, so right now I’m a weekend warrior. When I’m home, I’ll ride on my lunch break or to the gym.

@@DemonsRow Youre building a brotherhood here though. Its up to us, when we make videos, to reach beyond the screen. Youre one of the few that do that, and comment and answer.

6.Custom Builder, 91 Harley Davidson Low Rider FXRS. I do my own work with aftermarket parts I get online. I change it up every few years. Camo paint, ape hangers and just put on hard dresser bags and have a tourpack if I need it.
