Skyrim, my ex-wife hated exploring so would just fast-travel every chance she got. But after a while of doing so, her game became over-run by dragons. So much so that anytime she tried to travel anywhere, she would instantly get killed by said dragons.

She.. hated exploring? What else does Skyrim really offer? The story is aggressively mediocre. The side quests are almost all generic fetch or kill quests. The loot variety is really basic. The dungeon crawls are boring and monotonous. I'm just surprised because I kind of always saw all those things as excuses to explore the game world rather than a focus, so I'm not sure what's left there for someone who hates exploring lol

The Forest entry is what happens in pirated copies of the game as an anti-piracy measure so there is definitely fault of your own if you run into this.

In one of the Zelda games you can become permanently stuck if you save and quit at the wrong time, as you'll spawn on the wrong side of a broken bridge when you reload the save. I believe Nintendo actually had to recall earlier copies of the game because of this.

@@nicholasharvey1232 I don't remember being able to get stuck like that in Twilight Princess, but regardless, there is indeed a way to get stuck in that game. Late in the game, you go into a room with a big cannon under Kakariko Village. You need to teleport it out to go to the next dungeon, but Shad, one of the NPCs, is there watching and Midna won't let you teleport the cannon until he leaves. Shad also won't let you leave the room while he's there. Just talking to him is enough to get him to leave, but if you save in the room before doing that and quit the game, Shad won't be there anymore when you load it. Midna will still act as though Shad is there and still won't let you teleport the cannon or even yourself out of the room. And if you try to walk out, Shad magically reappears and stops you from leaving, only to disappear again. This all means you're stuck in that room forever, and unless you made a backup save beforehand, you have to restart the game from scratch, which is even more punishing due to how late in the game this happens. Nintendo ended up addressing this glitch and gave players the opportunity to send in their Wiis and/or SD cards to patch their saves and to exchange their discs for updated versions. @nicholasharvey1232 I went and double checked - the bridge one you mentioned is from Twilight Princess. It's called the Bridge of Eldin glitch. You beat the second dungeon and cross the Bridge of Eldin. If you immediately save and quit, instead of moving on and entering the twilight, when you reload your save, it'll spawn you back on the wrong side of the broken bridge with no way to progress.

The forest is amazing. If you are silly enough to camp on a main walk route then yes you can be overwhelmed. If you build in ponds, lakes or a boat house then it’s incredibly easy to stay safe outside of caves.

The whole thing with the Forest game, as I think about it... *IT **_IS_** BROKEN.* A game whose core mechanic is base building and survival, if it happens more times than not that you're trying to fight off horde after horde of cannibalistic humans, and it happens enough that you're left no time to build your base, then its broken. The game is not working as intended by the developers.

King's Quest 2 was full of ways to break the game, like giving you items that you could very easily use at the wrong time and then be unable to retrieve/replace. The big thing was this bridge that was programmed to the exact number of times you NEED to cross it, but never bothers to tell you that. So if you go back and forth on the bridge several times while trying to figure out what you're supposed to do it'll eventually just collapse under you with no way around.

In the same vein as Metroid, there was a glitch in Soul Reaver 2 (PS2) that caused the door to the Dark Forge (a dungeon, essentially) to be unable to interact with when trying to leave, resulting in a soft lock. There was a workaround that involved entering the spectral realm when entering to freeze time and prevent the door from closing, then leaving while in the spectral realm, but leaving in this manner would skip a cutscene.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Old game, but worthy of a mention. Through no fault of the player, upon traveling to Von Croy's apartment after his death (Lara's former mentor figure), your entire gun inventory is wiped clean. There has never been an explanation for this, because all of the ammunition for your weapons will still exist in your backpack, but every gun (except for the ones you might find in Von Croy's apartment) seemingly dematerializes when you arrive at this point in the story. This is about halfway through the game. Not only this, but this is where Lara is ambushed by a hired assassin, who immediately opens fire when he arrives. While he does drop a couple of new guns for her to loot up, you are largely forced to rely on a relatively weaker handgun which is found in the apartment. While not unbeatable, it puts you at a significant disadvantage.

Also, Batman NES. You can get to the end against the Joker, die and be stuck unable to beat him as you lost the power up weapon to kill him as you lose it on death.

An old friend and I would make a game out of juking the guards, seeing who could avoid them the longest while running around the Imperial City. Generally you just punch somebody not within the immediate range of a guard and run, trying to avoid them catching you to tell you broke the law. It's SO much harder than it sounds, even with 100 athletics. The distance they can snatch your screen from can be hilarious, and they will absolutely pop out and surprise you from random corners. My buddy won by far with a nearly 30 minute run, but made the mistake of getting cocky and thinking he could pop in and out of a shop. He popped back out, and the game must have bugged, because one of the beggars hits him with, "STOP! You've violated the law--"

One of the Metroid Prime games had a similar elevator glitch where if you beat the boss yet backtrack and save first the elevator would fully deactivate. This was especially annoying cause there was a save room just in the previous hall, making it even more logical to want to save...

I accidentaly discover something simmilar in dust, elysian tail. If for SOME reason you don't talk to bepo (the npc who wants see snow) after his father's funeral and complete the mission (give the snow) he don't give you the key to complete the puzzle with an npc to give you an extra

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game" (NES) can be broken by not giving you a definitive ending. If the real Shredder is caught in the mutating ray fired by his clone and you defeat the real one while he is frozen, the turtle(s) will run as the Technodrome is about to destruct but the screen will remain white when it destructs. You will not see the destroyed remains of the Technodrome, the typed epilogue, or the staff roll with the Turtle Blimp hovering across the cityscape. Instead, the frozen white screen will make you wonder if the turtle(s) escaped the Technodrome before it exploded.

Baulders gate dark alliance when u progress to the next chapter you have to go through a load of supped up enemy's after fighting the previous chapter's boss without telling u to stock up on potions which are the only way to heal. Usually have to go back to a manual save as long as u havent saved as soon as u get into the new chapter

The elevator glitch on Legendary (FPS game with mythical creatures unleashed on the modern world), fortunately my copies never had a problem. But I understand some people got versions of Legendary where they would get on an elevator for the final stage and would clip through the floor of the elevator to fall to their deaths. They wouldn't be able to use the elevator and thus wouldn't be able to get to the final fight.

In The Forest, becoming a primary target for cannibals usually is your fault. They have pretty complex behavior AI running in the background. Most people run into constant issues with the cannibals early on BECAUSE they're killing each one they see. The more you kill, the more violent and focused on you they become, and iirc it also affects how soon you'll start seeing the really scary mutants. On top of this, getting caught raiding their camps for items/supplies also thoroughly pisses them off, and they'll pretty much chase you to the ends of the Earth for it.

If you lose a battle whilst at war in Mount and Blade you can easily end up with an army of peasants against knights, you just end up stuck.

In Pokemon XY, if you saved outside a building but in Lumiose City, then restart the game, there’s a possibility there isn’t enough processing power to load all the assets around you and the game file fails to load. The only dlc any of the 3DS pokemon games had was a patch to fix this and later physical copies had that patch already installed.

I broke kingdoms of amular back in the day. there is a boss stopping you from entering the 4th main area of the game. And you arent supposed to be able to kill him without getting his twin to give you a matching amulet. Without the amulet the boss is supposed to have impossible to beat health regeneration. And when he dies, he drops either a key or special item you have to recover from the body to move forward. So I found the boss before speaking with his twin, and was able to kill him due to my build(basically ice and poison damage with chakrams). But could never loot the body, even after speaking to the brother, so was un-able to move forward.

Yop the Oblivion/Skyrim guards are still in Starfield. One cought me on Neon trespassing, shout at me so i run away basically to the second end of the map, start talking to quest giver and in the middle of dialog was zoom at the guard sstanding in the same room of gang hideout and trying to punish me.

Actually getting rid of the guards in Oblivion is very easy but time consuming. Just bribe and persuade EVERY guard in EVERY city so that way when you do something bad they will look the other way.

In Mafia 2, when looking at collecting the money for the loanshark, you need to have enough funds at the beginning of the level to continue, if you rob any buisness to get money during any point of that level, the door becomes un intractable and you need to begin the WHOLE chapter all over again.

Is it still possible to strand yourself in NMS? You will always have a mining laser, and all planets have oxygen plants (that require nothing to harvest), and mineable carbon and ferrite dust and di-hydrogen. Everything is achievable from that starting point.

11:15 and this is why PCs and the ability to cheat is what makes them better than almost all other platforms, with a little bit of know how and an online guide you can fix most problems by spawning in an item or setting a flag, this I why I hate it so much when a single player game goes out of its way to stop the player from using cheats the most bazar case of this I can think of was in the first space marine game that was still updating its software 5 years after it came out to block any attempt at cheating in a none competitive single player game, I could understand the studio going to such lengths if it was a thriving multiplayer game but that’s not a description you could ever give to space marine. Now depending on the game you can manipulate it on PlayStation or switch so that you can force the game to spawn an item or set a flag but it’s no where near as easy as it is to do on a PC because of how the system is designed and the openness of the system while stuff like say the PS5 is a very closed in ecosystem it’s not like you can just open a file and start messing with the code like you can on PC. On a side note anyone remember when cheats used to be fun little things devs gave players for doing stuff in the game like beating the game in x time unlocks special weapons or give you infinite ammo or you enter a code and it made your head massive, sadly now they looked down on a something bad because the studios want you to buy them as micro transactions.

Elder Scroll 3: Morrowind Tribunal expansion Something happened in my save file where the imperial guards attacked me on sight. I wasn't breaking any laws and I had zero bounty and no other city guard cared about me. At 1st it was dangerous where I had to run around and I had no old save file to back to. But after awhile, it became a benefit as I was able to kill them with not penalty to bounty or rep. I'd loot them, sell their gear and repeat. It ended up being a wealth of money and skill experience as no noc around cared I attacked the guards

I broke Max Payne 2. Near the start of the game as you go through the nightclub, there's a section where you go down a short corridor at the back of a storeroom and turn left to face a catwalk. As you do so, the two guys guarding the door will close and lock it, forcing you to go up the stairs and through the attic. It's not possible to shoot the enemies before they close the door, however you can kill them if you bounce a grenade around the corner before they ever see you. If you do this, they never close the door, allowing you to go straight across the catwalk. This breaks the game in that the final boss of the level never appears, You can hear him shooting, but he's nowhere to be found. Actually, I'm kind of surprised that the door closing depends on the two enemies being alive, since it would have made more sense to simply script the door to close when you come around the corner. That it stays open when the guys are dead seems to indicate that the developers considered the possibility of you killing them before they close the door, yet they apparently didn't test that possibility to the end of the level.

Im not sure if this just happened to me but in Pokémon gold and silver , there is a snorlax blocking your way and u need some item to wake him up. I accidentally dropped and sold that item then save my game file and never beat that game again

Honorable mention- Castlevania for the N64. Theres a section where you need to pick up two specific items to move on, but the game doesn't specify that you need to select a certain item before the other. Pick up the wrong one and you'll be locked out of any type of progression- forcing you to have to start from the beginning! Do this sequence right and...you're forced to have to walk a not so short distance to your objective, and then jump a weird way to explode it...

You can also softlock yourself with one of the previous bosses in MegaMan 2, I think the 4th boss in the castle. There you can only defeat the boss with a specific weapon as well and to make matters worse, even at full charge you have only one or two shots more available than the absolut minimum you need to defeat the boss. Though there it's a bit harder to softlock yourself entirely, because if you get killed during the boss fight you start again at a point in the level where you have a chance to refill your weapons energy and I think the progress you made at killing the boss actually transfers in this case if you get killed. So as long as you have at least one life left, you should still be able to beat that boss. Though both the one I described and the final one are probably the worst designed bosses in the series.

For Oblivion the guards don't endlessly chase you until you have a MASSIVE bounty. But even then they don't endlessly chase you. You can easily get away from them in a body of water. They give up after awhile.

I was actually so annoyed by the shopkeepers getting hurt for no apparent reason and then blaming it on me that I decided to spread the pain around by incorporating a similar mechanism into the D&D games that I run. It's quite simple really, adventurers are outsiders, the locals are usually distrustful of outsiders, so when the party are in town and something bad happens to someone in town, the party gets pinned with the blame. Interestingly enough not all of these games ended up with player characters becoming murder-hobos, so I suppose there's some hope left for humanity after all.

I miss the days when people understood ambitious, open-world games with a ton of player freedom, would inevitably have bugs. I used to create separate save files when I discovered funny bugs in Oblivion or Skyrim, just to revist them & show my friends the hilarious stuff that happened. Today, people act like any little glitch is some insanely offensive indictment of developer incompetence & laziness. Unless it's a game they like, such as Baldur's Gate 3. In that case, we'll overlook the thousands of bugs... but still hyper-fixate on them for every other game 🙄

You can't get stuck on NMS even back on PS4 in 2016 nor current version. Only way to get stuck is being lazy. Most materials cand be made by combing or refining other materials. Example you're trapped on a water planet and need pyrite. Easy grab living pearl refine to gold then refine again for pyrite. Being trapped means either lazy or haven't researched materials.

Since it's been happening the last few vids my theory is that they had to quickly cut out the outros on a batch of finished videos, maybe because of an error in the endcard or perhaps someone talking in them got fired/quit and requested to be removed from them.
