Every M&Ms commercial that I’ve ever seen from the 80s has been delightful (especially the annual iterations of the same family at Christmas); this one is no exception. How heartwarming.

0:09 - Love Manhattan history, so this was interesting for me. Might have to visit the current location when I visit for a theater trip in a few weeks.

The Palace Theatre is a lovely venue. Obviously was too young to see La Cage there back in the day, but have seen many productions there over the last 20 years, and seeing one there during my upcoming trip to NY. The theatre was renovated recently, so looking forward to seeing the new inside.

12:33 - Doing a “weird commercial” is better than subjecting innocent audiences to Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Margot.

It's funny what sets you off in these... those closet blocks reminded me of the bedroom of every 80's kid that I played with.

The photos of the closets in that ad remind me a lot of the closets in my house growing up as well.

Yaffa Blocks must have been in every kid’s room and college dorm back in the day…

As I said in a previous volume, March 1986 was when the big call sign change to WNEW to WNYW happened. There were other commercials with WNEW and other personalities telling us about the new changes. Out of all those electronic retailers at 6:32, the only one that's still around isn't The Wiz, it's PC Richard!

Fun fact the blizzard of 1888 is the reason why Manhattan has an underground elecrtic grid. Why the hell places that much more desperately need it haven't figured out that idea yet when they did in the late 19th century is beyond me.

That blizzard is the primary reason why NYC developed subway lines.

A&P- 2:15 Seeing the image of the woman mascot on the Francisco Rinaldi Spaghetti Sauce jar brings a nice jolt of nostalgia to me. I don’t think that image changed a whole lot over the years. Meineke Discount Mufflers- I never knew Meineke had such a diverse variety of clientele visiting their business, from an old lady, a tough guy with a metal cuff bracelet, to a nerdy man. Also, I find their logo that consists of a muffler with a smiley face at 7:30 to be pretty charming.

80s Commercials Vols. 912 and 1030 (Part 2) are blocked. Here's hoping KZbin and SESAC are able to strike a deal quickly (not holding my breath).
@80sCommercialVaultАй бұрын
I am going to leave these videos as is for the time being and will resort to editing the songs out at a later date if there is no resolution.
@80sCommercialVaultАй бұрын
It looks like a deal was made so these videos are back. Please keep in mind that these videos will still probably be blocked in countries like Russia and Belarus. That is also something related to SESAC and I'm honestly fine with that. When push comes to shove I will edit stuff out of these videos, but if only 5% or less of the total viewing audience is affected, I'd rather just keep the content that is being blocked.
