A bunch of commercials that aired on ABC on March 13th, 1987. Be prepared to hear the phrase "Breakfast By The Hand" a lot during this particular compilation. For fun, take a shot every time this phrase is uttered.
1. McDonald's - "Good Timing" (Notice the giant phone he grabs at the end)
2. U.S. Army (And this is supposed to make me want to join how?)
3. U.S. Army (Emasculation total)
4. Volkswagen GTI (People singing in German have always scared the crap out of me)
5. Loreal Studio Line (Again, the influence of widespread cocaine use during the 1980's rears its ugly head)
6. Promo for ABC's "Wide World Of Sports"
7. McDonald's - "Breakfast For 4" (It'd be awesome if these guys had a sitcom where did literally nothing but sing in unison all of the time)
8. Volkswagen Golf (Question: When women are driving, are they constantly wondering if the dude behind them is checking them out?)
9. Avon (I love cheesy saxophone music from the 80's)
10. South Bay Health Center Dental Services (You know this guy was either an anchorman or game show host at some point)
11. KNTV 11 News Break (AIDS Scare!)
12. McDonald's - "The New Kid" (Against all odds, I hope this guy is still alive making Egg McMuffins)
13. Comtrex (Why does this sound like an evil corporation?)
14. Promo for "We Are The Children" (Ally Sheedy - learning about life's choices. Ted Danson - a cynic with a heart. Their love grew where nothing else could...Poetry, sheer poetry.)
15. Sunnyvale Ford (Damn, it's pretty amazing how cheap things used to be...)
16. McDonald's - "Special Delivery" (They really had the jingle writers working overtime for these commercials)
17. Bud Light (OK, this is frightening)
18. McDonald's - "Hot Hands" (Does anybody know who the girl at the end is? I'm sure she's either an actress, model, or both, and I can't put my finger on who she is. I'm thinking Kathy Ireland...maybe.)

That McDonald's commercial ``the New Kid'' was probably the most heart wearming Mickey D's commercial I have ever seen. Seriously that was really sweet. They sure don't make `em like that anymore , huh?

Now there's something I never thought I'd see - an Avon ad! I have a friend (he's old enough to be my dad) who lost a lot of good friends during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. It was a scary time. I was too young, all I remember were kids singing "Ding dong the f-gs are dead." Probably heard it off their parents. The a capella quartet singing "Breakfast By The Hand" has got to be the best McD ad I've ever seen. Epic.

Jeez, all that first commercial did for me was wishing for a breakfast muffin. And I wish that McDonnald's would sell breakfast 24 hours a day. 80sCommercialVault, I've been enjoying your uploads for the past few days.

That Volkswagen Golf commercial used the music from the Wang Chung song "Wait." That song was another of theirs from the "To Live and Die in L.A." soundtrack that was used in commercials at that time.

Maybe I'm just naive, but whenever I watched this commercial growing up, I always just assumed the old guy wanted to keep busy in his old age, not take some minimum wage job simply for the money. Some old people think retirement is a quick way to grave. And I think McDonald's is still in the practice of hiring elderly folks for shifts in the morning, just like the guy in this commercial, but I'm not sure.

All of the McDonald's commercials are classics in the sense that they're so damn catchy, but my favorite was actually "The New Kid" one because it so damn sweet. You're right Mike, the sax was so cheesy but oh so good.

Kathy Ireland was already famous in 1987 for being on Sports Illustrated for 3 years by then. It looks like a young Reese Witherspoon who would have been 10-11. The big hair and lighting makes her look older but, it is the rolling eyes look she gives the sandwich at the very end that ids her. It is the same look she gives in most of her movies. She did start modeling and commercials at 7 so, it is possible. What do you think?

These ads were probably filmed during the first and last hour of sunlight...often called the "magic hour" or "golden hour" by cinematographers. Because these commercials in particular are advertising breakfast at McDonalds, it was almost certainly an intentional choice. I can kind of see it in other ads, but it's definitely not as prominent as it is here. Also, a few of my tapes tend to have kind of a yellow tint to them...either because of age or the broadcast quality back then.

...y'know, I kinda miss phones. Regular phones, I mean. These cellphones are great, sure, but those big phones were so much easier to hold on your shoulder when you're doing something (or if you just want to give your arms a rest). That "new kid" commercial is pretty sad. I know older people at our local fast food joints (and grocery stores) that have to work that job in order to buy medication. ...when this was made that seems to have been out of the ordinary. How sad for old people today...

So the prompt-to-the-point-of-having-OCD guy in the first commercial is an "Efficiency Expert?" Oh ho, McDonald's, you so funny. The Army ad may as well have said, "In the Army, you'll wake up earlier than civilians, AND do more work than they do, too!" I had a feeling that it was Rockapella (The Carmen Sandiego guys) in the 4 Guys McDonald's ad, but then I saw the comment that said Tom Kenny was on the left at the end, and I thought he was right. THEN I saw another comment that said it was a Chicago group called 4 Guys Standing Around Singing, so I had to Google whether Tom Kenny was in 4 Guys, and he wasn't, and why the hell do I do this to myself? Regardless, I'd love those idiots to follow me everywhere with a singing-commentary. LOVE the Avon ad! Oh so '80s! In the end of the Comtrex ad, when it pauses, it seems like they're going to tell you the chick died. I like the way the announcer pronounces it "SUNNYvale Ford" every time he says it.

All Mickey D's is good for anymore is their breakfast...admittingly terrible for you but it still tastes decent. The rest of the food there and BK is total garbage...I haven't had any of that crap in years and I tell ya I've lost weight. I miss the magic of the old commercials. Sometimes it's corny but still it warms my heart, I was probably between 7-9 when most of this stuff was on, except here in Ohio it was different car dealerships. Ahh, miss the old days.

@Lmaox94 If that's how you look at it , then that's pretty shallow. I don't care if it's Red Lobster or Outback , it's not about the food , it's about the message of the commercial. I look for the underlying message , not what the commercial is trying to sell ( which I have the choice to buy or not to buy ).

@MattTheSaiyan I think allowing people to buy Egg McMuffins at any time of day or night might have some unforeseen consequences. Down would be up, black would be white...panic and hysteria would quickly engulf the streets of America. Not to mention the inevitable muffin, cheese, egg and ham shortages and the violent riots that would ensue.
