08:05 - fun fact. Many people think that version of "Keep On Dancin" was sung by Jimmy Hart (yes, the wrestling guy). For reasons lost to time, The Gentrys lead guitarist Larry Raspberry sang lead for the band's biggest hit, instead of Hart or Bruce Bowles.
@80sCommercialVault3 жыл бұрын
Another fact, the original recording of that song was extremely short and was extended by just repeating portions of the song through editing.

I really wish I had found this earlier this week, the Tom Peterson's commercials are bringing back huge nostalgia. This was before his business took a tumble, and he was at the top of his fame. My brother and I still associate "Sleigh Ride" with his Christmas commercials. Haagen Chiropractic showed that commercial, in many incarnations, for years! Those Little Boppers were cute, I remember the commercials, but I was not the target market, as I was 13 years old by this point. I guess now I"ll search for a video with someone getting these to work? They, along with the Teddy Ruxpins in this video, seem more advanced than I remember. Yamhill Marketplace...it ended up becoming a gym, and perhaps some office space.

Almost the exact same experience, I, too, was 13, but I lived in the Gresham area. Thought the same way about Tom Peterson, was kind of annoyed when Gloria had to appear in the commercials later on, but of course little did I realize, she helped save him from Bankruptcy.

Ah! Good to see Fred Meyer spot in there for the Regina Steemer Carpet Cleaner. I became acquainted with the Fred Meyer discount super department store when traveling in the Pacific Northwest in the 1980s; it was the equivalent of what we now know of (in the US) as those Walmart SuperCenters in the 21st Century. A remarkable department store that was a one-stop shop for nearly every need for the home; which included a vast grocery section, too. The employees were courteous and helpful; the premises impressively kept clean and tidy; with discount pricing at that.

The Power Pad is a bit controversial in the current collector's market. The game that came with the Power Pad, World Class Track Meet, had been released by Bandai previously as Stadium Events, along with its own version of the Power Pad called the Family Fun Fitness mat. Nintendo saw value in the mat, and decided to buy the rights to it after Bandai brought it to America. And so, both Stadium Events and the Family Fun Fitness mat were pulled from stores, and sometime later, Nintendo relaunched them as the Power Pad and World Class Track Meet. Today, Stadium Events is one of the rarest NES carts on the market, since it was pulled after a short while. On the website Price Charting that tracks game prices, a loose Stadium Events cartridge is valued at $13,000, while a Complete in Box copy goes for $41,000.

$399 for a 19"???? You can get a 55" for that price today.
@80sCommercialVault3 жыл бұрын
That was the price of a TV and VCR bundled together. You’re also not adjusting the 80’s era price for inflation. $399 back then is $940 in today’s money. Modern TVs have way fewer parts and are significantly cheaper to make then CRT TVs were back then. Electronics in general were a LOT more expensive back then.
@danteerskine76783 жыл бұрын
@@80sCommercialVault to be honest, CRT tv were trash, colors were dull compared to a new hd ready LCD TV. Even older movies from the 70 and 80s get the best color reproduction ever.
