H. Salt is an old LA chain. There might be 1-3 left. They were so good. It didn't come in wrapped newspaper like the OGs but it came in a little holder with newspaper printed on it. Piorneer Chicken is another you will spot every so often in old episodes. They had the best fried chicken, sure it was orange colored, I don't know why but it was good.

Great Vlog, can relate on many levels! I lived in San Fernando from 1989-1994. My wife worked at the Bank of America in the San Fernando Mall. Later she moved to the Bank of America in Sherman Oaks, and Erik Estrada (Ponce), would come in and she'd wait on him, and commented how nice he always was. One time, while eating at the James Coffee Shop, I asked the owner if the sign had his picture on it, and he said, "yes, it did." I still have a magazine pictorial showing the destruction of the San Fernando Mall from the Feb. 9th 1971 6.5 Sylmar earthquake, and I was living in the San Fernando house when the Jan. 17, 1994 6.8 Northridge earthquake hit.

This is like a time capsule, I grew up in San Fernando around the time CHiPs was still on the air and I remember all of those locations as shown. What I find hilarious, though, is Bear casually driving around the neighborhood in SF when he’s at least an hour away from HQ! WTF was he doing out there??? 😂

Hey man, haven’t commented in a while, but been watching your videos for years. Grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I lived at 1718 4th st. Just a few blocks from these locations. You help bring back so many memories from 40 yrs ago. Been living in San Antonio Texas for the last 20 years. I love the part about seeing the entire film crew in the reflection of the van. You and your eagle eye!!! Just curious, do you remember castles music in the San Fernando mall? I took guitar lessons there when I was 8 years old. 11:20 you can see the kids up on the roof and maybe couple outer people down on the ground watching them film then the shot then after that part looks like they used the tree by changing the angle of the shot to hide them onlookers ....... I see a lot of that in these shows and movies during 70's and 80's era ...... thanks for all the great content .... it has to be wild growing up around there and recognizing all the places in the movies-shows. one of the things i get a kick out of is in the car chases there might be a hub cap off in one shot and back on again later and even sometimes even completely different make and model of vehicle lol ----- all this stuff really gives creates great character to the shows-movies 👍

But after watching your recent Filming Location videos I opted to go all out and buy the entire 6 seasons boxed set and I was seeing most sellers wanted around 83 dollars for em Yet I got lucky and found one for $55.99 for all six seasons. I might not get them until the 28th of December However, I have your awesome countdown vids to keep me plenty happy till they arrive. Then after I watch each episode, I can always go back and watch more of the location videos and be like hey I seen that place in the show Too cool ...Thanks Again for the gift of showing us before and after shots of this Iconic television series so many great memories!!!! ... This is the second episode you have done that featured a 1975 Ford LTD station wagon which brings back memories since my father had one except it was Dark Cherry with wood trim. Oh, and that was a newer edition Pinto that had the fuel tank modified. However, I did not know that CHiP's had a Klingon in it. Oh wait, that was a few years down the road...

I think I would have to agree with you until that last season. Just finishing a rewatch of the whole series, I don't think I had seen them since they aired. Growing up around LA it is always neat for me to look up film locations, many I recognize. That last season of CHiPs was horrific and just straight goofy.

Great video as usual! One important thing that make me sad though via your videos is how most of the houses and businesses currently look like fortresses (fences all around regular homes, metal bars in windows, back alleys blocked by metal barriers, etc.) because of the larger risk of crime. When I watch your videos, we usually see how the houses/businesses were back then without the extreme security stuff. I find this kind of environment off putting. LA, which I visited a few times, does not look like it used to be.

Crime was worse back then. Born and raised in LA. My current home is 10 min from the locations in this video. Things have gotten way better since the 80s. Violent crime rates were double and property crimes triple what they are today.

@@mjwbulich You are correct, as crime was higher everywhere back then. What I meant is that the result of happen back then was to increase the level of security we see now. At the time, for example, more kids were walking to school (at least where I am from). Now, almost every parent drive their kid to school (just in case), although the risk for something to happen is much lower.
