Back in the '70's i used yo do that off aircraft carrier decks. 70foot jumps from flight deck. Uss Kennedy and Dwight D Eisenhower. Lake Powell is so fun when conditions are right. Great video.😊

The cave beneath the bowl is massive. One year when the Lake was at the lowest I had ever seen it, this spot was anywhere from 30 to 60 feet above the water line. The cave itself is really wide and could easily fit multiple houseboats in it with this hole in the ceiling. You could stand on the edge where the water is in this video and fall into the cave below. I really wish I had footage from that day. It was so much fun and such a trip to see people falling from the ceiling when you pulled into the cave.

I've spent a lot of time at Powell and I've never heard of this spot. Cool! A lot of lateral in the measurement, but it's probably close. I'm 60 years old and I've been jumping my entire life. My highest is 110' at Powell. I want to go higher. My favorites are bridges. Rules: Be certain the lading spot is clear. Keep your arms at your side when hitting the water. Use your feet to break the surface at entry. Face up! Don't look down when hitting the water. Have fun, be SAFE!

From your video, and from The part of the video at 2:34 your saying 81 feet. It looks like you have to jump a hell of a ways out because if you don’t, your gonna hit the wall / hit rock down near the bottom of the wall. Could you give us all some idea about how many feet you have to jump out? Shove off from to keep from hitting any part of the wall?? i’m going to say you’re having to jump a good 15 feet out.

Yeah, it was steep and sketchy climb (not shown) from the boat to the bottom part of the bowl. So short but steep climb + tight wetsuit + adrenaline had me gasping a bit lol

I remember doing this with some of my buds a few years ago. Almost backed out because I had never jumped that high. The water level was a lot higher though. My friend who is kinda crazy did a gainer off it. We tried convincing him not to do it to. Also, I ended up getting an ear infection because I tilted my head a little which ya ain't supposed to do. Was totally worth it though😂

I'm glad you managed to leap just far enough out to clear the bottom of the sandstone cliff, so as to strike the water. Be a different story if you hit rock first. The "Toilet Bowl" is just the right name for this formation. Someone could add a toilet paper roll and dispenser at the top.

@@donlum9128 my aunt used to be a park ranger there and used to tell us all kinds of stories of people misjudging the depth and hitting the rocks. some spots, it's hard to tell where the deep end is next to the shallow end. It could be 4 feet next to a hundred foot drop off.

I wore shoes, bent my feet in and my feet hurt a lil bit from the jump. Also jumping from that high like a pencil pushed me down like 15ft under the almost literally freezing water. I almost drowned that day so I only did that jump once. Anyways I wish I would’ve went to this cliff when I was at Powell 👍👍
