I have been filming garbage trucks for 30 years I’ve seen this all the time the cans crack really easy and that’s annoying and I live in south la it’s really annoying that you have to wait a week for another can

God, LA's got quite a few problems. Gangs, traffic jams, now we can add broken garbage carts to that list.

The Driver's need to notify the office they will not be picking up damaged bins due to Safety concerns. No one can deny the Safety risk. The equipment was not designed to pick up broken/cracked bins causing , Rubbish spills, damage to equipment, hydraulic hoses get broken leading to oil leaks. House addresses are to be noted for the office to send a rear manual handling truck to remove the bins & a replacement bin truck to follow & help out.. Residents are also to request/ notify by email or phone if the bin is in, an unserviceable condition. The hydraulic pressure of the grab arms are to checked by the work shop and adjusted/set..
@brobb5767 Жыл бұрын
I drove these trucks for 30 years in Perth Western Australia, the hydraulic pressure needs to be set to manufacture specifications so the bins won't be crushed but to have enough force so the bins will not slide through the grab arms. A test bin for the mechanics of fixed concrete 100/120 kilo in a bin was used. Any over that weight the arm wouldn't lift it. Safety limit. The driver then places a bright sticker on the bin Notifying why it wasn't emptied. The resident is to remove any heavy material and ring the office number for a recollection, usually in the next day or 2. It is supposed to be for Domestic rubbish, not bricks, sand or concrete , a little but not too much 🙈😂

Dont pester them by telling em that they have trash still in it or that they flung the trash over the truck. It annoys them also since half the carts are broken they have too many balls to juggle.
@auricom8472 Жыл бұрын
How am i a karen. I posted this comment from a workers perspective. Pointing out the things we screwed up on and then making scene of it is stressful. Also these carts are already broken so the chances of a spill and the driver having to put the truck in park and then get out is going to happen. Telling them that oh theres still trash in the can or the trash is on the other side of the truck just adds more for them to do on and already stressful job. You know its almost as if you have this account just to go around being a debby downer to people who reply to videos. Also im the top comment (im probably not but its how my phone displays it so thats the basis for this section )so it seems you didnt go through the other comments on this video.

Would they less likely to break if they were grabbed around the wheels/axle?
@brobb5767 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that won't work, the grab arm can't reach that low and it'll only end up snapping the wheels off and also there's a 90% chance the whole bin will slide through the grab & end up in the back of the truck. The hydraulic pressure is to high on the grab mechanism & needs to be adjusted down to a firm grip not crush grip👍

I don't mean to hate, but the kid needs to mind his own business. You always have that one joe blow somewhere along you're route that likes to tell you what to do and thinks they know better than the operator of the truck. I think I know if there's trash still in the can or not, I don't need someone following me around and dictating to me my job. I agree on the bad condition of the cans though, that's very poor service in my opinion.

Pablo Ledezma I’m going to get the new recycling bin made by toter next week. Because, my old recycling bin is broken, when it’s cheap plastic for the last 5 years since they changed the automatic trash 🗑 truck.

I remember seeing footage similar to this video by on a different angle and by a different user on KZbin, how interesting. By any chance where you filming with someone else that day? Unless it might be the same route because I also remember this truck because of how badly burnt it is. Anyways cool video, I laugh whenever the amreps just grab into a broken cart and they get stuck and there they are working it up and down back and forth to get it unstuck. Cool video
