For all asking the question about power consumption in the night: you can get a glimpse of the car scanner in the morning which shows ~37.5kwh. 00:21 a.m.: 58.3 kwh 08:00 a.m.: 37.5 kwh used in 7h40 minutes: 20.8 kwh which equals to 2.71 kwh / PER HOUR (thanks german car makers!) With my Model Y I used around 1.1kwh (per hour) near Lillehammer at -9°C in Camp-Mode. advantage Model Y: heat pump! + smaller cabin to heat

Thanks for this calculation. Yeah you can see just before him going to sleep that Aux consumption hovers around 2.7 kW.
@nixer89
@nixer89 2 жыл бұрын
@@darekmistrz4364 oh yeah, you are correct. Didn't had to calculate then :D btw, 20.8 kwh equals to 27% on a 77kwh net capacity pack of the VW ID Buzz. So Bjorn used 27% of the battery capacity in only 8 hours. When I was camping, I was stationary (camping) for ~ 15h and used only 20% to 22% of the Model Y LR battery capacity. that is such a huge difference.

Pro-tip on the FLIR: when you are moving the camera around to check the temperature over a large area (like, the whole interior of the Buzz), tap the "lock" symbol on the color scale on the right to prevent the camera from changing the scale as you move the camera around. The way you're doing it in this video is really misleading, because the oranges at the front of the car are hotter than the oranges at the rear. The camera is just setting the orange/red end of the scale to the hotter areas currently visible in the camera, so the rear of the car could be much cooler than the front and still look the same. Aim the camera at a relatively warm area of the car, like the front, then lock the scale so that scale's used everywhere. Then you'll have a much more intuitive view of the heat distribution as you move the camera around.

Hey Bjørn! Thanks for this test, with camping in the Buzz. Really helpfull, but unfortunately it confirmed allmost all of my conserns. But atleast good to see that you can cheat camper mode, even though I think that this gives a good bit higher energy consumption than a camper mode would. Big shame on VW for not including that as a standard. Fitted covers, as you demonstrated, would probably lower the consumption even more. I guess, on with shades on all windows would consume less than same type car with fornt side windows uncovered. And fitted ones would definitely bee the best choice. Also a big shame they didn't include V2L, as this would be perfect addition to this kind of vehicle. Anyway, top tourist advertisement for Norway with your great landscape shootings. We live in a truly beautiful country, even on cold winter days. Keep up the good work, and enjoy Thailand, another beautiful country i have had the pleasure to visit.

Bjorn, you have it really easy in Norway with all those DCFCs and especially the lower highway speeds. Here in the Western US, average highway speeds are no lower than 100 km/h so you really can't go too much slower. Most roads average between 105 and 120 km/h, even two-lane roads.

Björn, I think you are being wrong about ABRP. The arrival estimation massively depends on the climate conditions, traffic and speed. It also gives a bit off estimation for me first and then within 10 minutes of driving, it gives almost the exact arrival SoC.

@ragnvaldj.kjelseth9482
@ragnvaldj.kjelseth9482 2 жыл бұрын
Don't want to add diesel or gas heating to an electric car. For one, it just sounds righteous stupid to do that, as batteries have far better efficiency, and the electric heater is already installed in the electric cars. So you save components, weight and space that the webasto heater and tank takes up. Second, you don't risk getting killed by hazardous fumes if the battery electric heater f..ks up, but it can happen with the Webasto, same as if you try to keep heat on by running the engine on an ice-car. For a car like this, solar panels to top up with some juice when camping at same site for days, is a far better option. And when you're driving from place to place, just fill up on a charging station before you settle down for the evening, or stop somewhere you can find an ac charger. If you're staying at a camp site, you should be able to connect your car to the power outlet at your stall, same as with campers. Even at the lowest amp setting, you'll top up with more than you use during the night. You probably don't drive off with a full battery, but you'll probably get a good amount for your first leg.
@Kitay4a
@Kitay4a 2 жыл бұрын
@@ragnvaldj.kjelseth9482 You must be kidding if you are saying that people are dying from webasto. A lot of truck drivers use this for heating the cabin while the main engine is not working. Fossil-fuel cars for decades working and using webasto and there is nothing that people are dying of. On the other hand, I would say that battery-powered cars are also dangerous due to fire issues that happened to batteries. Using solar power for heating is something that would never work in the Northern winter as there is no sun.
@ragnvaldj.kjelseth9482
@ragnvaldj.kjelseth9482 2 жыл бұрын
@@Kitay4a I didn't say it's happening often, but it has happened. How often do BEV's catch on fire, and especially battery fires, compared to ice cars? Honda, BMW, MB, Audi, VW and severel others have had to recall even diesel cars because of fire hazard. In Norway, BEV fires are hugely minor to the ice-car fires, and spokesmen for the Fire Department has for now concluded BEV's are far less likely to catch on fire. Solar panels of course needs light. And there is daylight if your below the arctic circle. But they dont need direct sunlight to produce electricity. Daylight is enough. Efficiency goes up in direct light, but solar panels love low light and cold weather, and reflections from snow. And as I said, if your doing new stops every day, you top of at a charging station. Can also add that camping is mostly a summer activity.

I find it interesting and funny how you can sit up in the ID Buzz. I can sit up in the Model 3. I'm only 170 cm. I think you are a little taller.

Does Audi E-tron have a similar app for data? I already have the same ODB-adaptor.

Tesla has a camper mode in their sports cars. But VW do not make this in their fancy van. People must cheat the stupid system. Even no darkening solution. To do a heating a sales manager told me to program multiple departure events. That's disappointing for such an expensive toy

power distribution in ecoflow is pretty logical. both batteries are connected in parallel, but the juice is sucked only from the one with inverter, so this one is always lower in voltage.

Its fun that mercedes test vehicles are charging at tesla (and not at ionity ;) 😂)

Up far north there is no more Ionity. So not fun, but a necessity.

@@frankblok1743 yeah, I know. And it is fun that tesla provides juice for their tests and they dont push their “own” company to install DC chargers there

Personally, I don’t care to watch you sleep in the car. I mostly watch these videos to see the efficiency and charging in very cold temperatures. Seeing the sights in Norway is interesting, but it’s definitely not necessary in every “Article Circle” videos
