This video is about the 82nd Division who, together with Sergeant Alvin York stormed Hill 223 in September 1918. Just before that, the 'Lost Battalion' made a stance against the German forces in the same area. We have made an episode about the Sabaton Song 'Lost Battalion' as well, which you can watch right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppixqZygl6mfgK8 We love the reception of our weekly videos, and have some great stuff coming up the next weeks. We want as many of our fans to see this, so make sure to share this channel with your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, teachers and other loved ones. You'd be doing them and us a real favour! @@fin4204 I tell you what, tour dates end in 2021 so maybe they'll release an album then (2 years, bit ambitious i know) but if they do. Im just saying they have barely covered Aincient/Roman/Dark ages history. An album about Alexander the Great, Justinian, Belisarius, The battle of Pliska, Actium, The rise of the Ottomans, Varna. There is more greatness on the horizon i am certain

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword". Figuratively speaking of course but you get the idea, he was there to save people and he knew that would turn others against them in the long run. Same with York, he killed all those people to save his own men, but of course anyone would question themselves indefinitely after performing such seemingly merciless actions. Desmond Doss I think is the model of a Christian soldier, he did as much as he possibly could without resorting to violence and let the Lord be his protection from the enemy, not a gun.

I guarantee that this song will play well here in the USA. If you have stops in Tennessee and North Carolina, then you might have a riot if you _don't_ play this song! SGT Alvin C. York is a LEGEND in the United States Army, and especially in the Infantry. Growing up, I never saw the movie based on his life and deeds, but I learned all about him during Basic Training at Ft. Benning. He is still the Gold Standard to which the best of us aspire.

Fact: When Sgt. York was surprised, he dropped his rifle and grabbed his sidearm a 1911 in 45acp. Hollywood: In the Sgt. York movie played by Gary Cooper, he picked up a Luger 9mm. During the making of the movie, Hollywood could not make a 45acp blank to function properly in the 1911. They had 9mm blanks, and Gary Copper captured the German with their own Luger pistol.

The thing I like about Sabaton is that when you ask someone which song is their favorite, 20 people will have 20 different answers. They have so many good, different songs across so many albums and topics that it's hard to choose! Last Friday was Yorks birthday but it was the same day my school went into a lockdown because of an active shooter threat. I was listening to this song when we heard it wasn't a drill and were told to hide in the corner, but I thought that wasn't something that Alvin York would do. I went up to my teacher and asked her for scissors and sat down by the door, waiting for someone to enter for about an hour and a half while listening to this song along with some others to keep me calm. Eventually the shooter turned out to be a false alarm but I'm still proud of myself for being brave and wanting to protect my classmates. Thank you Sabaton and Alvin York for inspiring so many people to be brave!

As a retired US Army soldier, let me say: Sabaton, YOU ROCK! Thank you. I saw this video about Alvin York. I was already a huge fan of York since he is a US Army hero. I searched for other songs by Sabaton. I am amazed at the renditions of events and people in military history. I am now a lifetime fan of Sabaton!

I was hoping for this one, given that this is probably my favorite song of the album, even more so now that I know the whole history behind Alvin York. Words cannot do the deeds of this man justice. To be standing in enemy territory and having the guts to not just charge in there, but take 100+ Germans captive without flinching is nothing short of amazing. Also interesting how, once again, two events/songs cross paths here.

I had the great honor to visit Sgt. York’s home, meet one of his sons, and see his gallbladder that had been removed preserved in a jar. One of the best childhood memories I have! One of his uniforms and his Medal of Honor are also displayed at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville which I highly recommend seeing if you come to Tennessee!

When I was younger I didn't exactly know who Alvin York was. The first time I heard his name was from a joke in Wayne's World. "I mean, there are two Darren Stevens, right? Dick York and Dick Sargent. Yeah, right, as if we wouldn't notice. Oh hold on: Dick York, Dick Sargent, Sergeant York... Wow, that's weird."
