Neat... moody. It certainly picks up the grainy & overexposed film, and analog static aesthetic of experimental surrealism. I think most people are familiar with the overall "style," as "the videotape" from "The Ring" or the original Japanese "Ringu." Where the lack of plot or sequential narrative, no dialog, little if any acting, and simultaneously evoking a certainty there's inscrutable symbolism you don't immediately (or ever) understand, to create an uneasy dread of otherworldly horror you don't completely understand. The style goes way back though. And the flickery B&W look is an homage to some of the earliest "art films."
