Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I really don't want to do this, but I'm going to :/ I am doing a TON of work on a 300sd.

Thank you very much for this video. I have had a hard time finding examples of this work. I am thinking on borrowing an old steering box from a friend to take apart before rebuilding my own. Mine is leaking, but there is no noise. I replaced the low pressure hose and am keeping an eye on the fluid level for my 1984 w123 300TD.

You may need to rebuild it.

Thanks a great deal for the videos I was able to reseal the gear box in my 1985 500SL R107, I have only one question. after putting it back in the car my steering feels a bit tight as if I may have tightened the large nut and the spanner too much, is this possible? I don't want to take it back off but, It appears I may have. Is it possible to over tighten those two? thank you in advance and any reassurance you can provide will certainly help me perhaps not make the same mistake again. Thank you again RV...

Yeah it could be too tight. I’d check the adjustment but on the top of the box to make sure it isn’t adjusted too tight. (The one to adjust the slack out of the steering.)
@rv93312 жыл бұрын
@@mjmcomputers I'm not sure I follow you. I don't know what you mean "to adjust the slack" on the steering means...you mean I don't have to remove the whole thing again?
@mjmcomputers2 жыл бұрын
@@rv9331 on the top of the box it’s the bolt and nut sticking up. End of bolt has the allen head. You loosen the nut and use a Allen wrench to adjust the slip out of the box. If you get it too tight it can cause the steering to be tight.

Great video. My euro 500 sec the power steering pump is making a whining moan but it's not leaking. While it's making the sound, I move the steering wheel the sound then quitens a bit. What could that be? The seal? Thanks

What are you running for fluid?

Do you know if these pumps have a bleed valve ? currently having trouble getting air out of a 76' 116 280se.
@mjmcomputers5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think so, what I do is jack up the car so both wheels are off the ground and with the car running I turn the wheel all the way one way then all the way the other way and just keep doing that till I get the air out.

@@mjmcomputers Yeah ok thanks for that. Tried adding vacuum and still no luck. Looks like pump needs come out for another check over.
