That's a goofy comment. I've got a relative who had a small business and who was a spendthrift and market investor. NO stupidity like real estate schemes, franchises or buying tons of whole life insurance. Just pure equity investing. Figure that he averaged about $250k a year of income, and he has "saved" his way to well into 8 figures. Plus, he's not running around pretending to be a tycoon. $250K is a lot of money to make a given year, but he was sole income and paid taxes as an individual without many business expenses. It is EASY to save your way in to prosperity in retirement. Both of my parents were teachers. They spent about half of what they made, and in retirement, they have a problem of too much money and not enough interest to spend it on anything. Slow the money down and put it in something that appreciates, not this stupid youtube sham garbage about people being a wheeler dealer without having any specific skills. Not really I used to work at a nursing home and DA and Cna the cost for the nursing home was over 135000 a year it's staggering. It's better to be there than in a nursing home your not respected or treated like a capable adult the threat of abuse is high and often unreported. The food is mediocre at best. And if you request something specific your considered a nuisance. I've seen other nurses and Cna individuals tell a capable adult to turn off her t.v. to go to sleep when she didn't comply they pulled the plug on it. Even for that high cost they share rooms have no privacy and the rooms are searched periodically things are often stolen. And the worst part is that nursing home was considered the best in south texas area.

I just booked a suite for 4 people on harmony of the seas (worlds largest ship) for 5k for 4 PEOPLE - so they way over estimated. I'm saying at 800 a week she's at 42k a year let's say hi at 1000 a week shes at 52k a year. with good retirement plan she could easily be living off of dividends and interest. And think about it - that's ALL FOOD and entertainment for free - she LITERALLY needs to buy nothing - every week they give you soap and so on for free. this IS the way to go. plus let's not forget - loyalty incentives for cruising that much - I bet she get's huge discounts. this is so much cheaper than most retirement homes i bet.

Compare this to nursing home costs though. A lot of these cruise lines are really reasonable when you take everything into account. Additionally, many essentially have "frequent flyers" clubs which add up to other discounts and free trips. Me and my wife did a 14 or 15 day one transatlantic earlier this year, and it was only about $800 per ticket. Assume $1600-$2000 a month for all the food you can eat, everything taken care of? Beats a nursing home any day of the week, and honestly probably better for her health.

I have heard of this, in fact, my great-aunt did this. She was receiving a lot of money every month from SS and her late husband's pension, I'm sure too much for Medicaid. She had been on cruises and loved them. She had trouble with arthritis and would have needed assisted living since she couldn't get around very well, grocery shop, cook, clean, that sort of thing. So, instead, she took advantage of senior citizen and frequent cruiser discounts and moved into a cruise ship. She lived in a handicap-accessible room and was quite happy for years. Better than living on your own or in a care home where all you do is look out the window all day! And anyway, the staff members must be like family.

It's so ninspiring to see a Granny loving her grandchildren so well, providing nurturance , guidance and support, only a sweet, involved,,caring grandma can.

Definitely better than nursing home yeah that is awesome way to be retired

I don't blame her. There's a lot of abuse going on in these nursing homes. In fact, not too far from where I live at, There's a Catholic nursing facility that nearly lost their license because they mistreated the residents there. My mother spent the last 10 years of her life in that nursing home as a stroke patient. I also worked there as a dietary aide back in the early 80's. My mother got very good care there. At that time, it was run by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Then they sold it to a profit-making company for years ago. (My mother passed away in November of 2012. Her funeral was held at the chapel there.) If this woman wants to live on a cruise ship, that's her choice.

Medicaid isn't about to start paying for people to live on cruise ships. This woman is very rich to be able to pay $175,000 a year to live full time on a cruise ship. She must also be in very good health. Sorry about the loss of your mother.

This is so badass. You couldn't get me on a cruise ship, but she's not terrified of cruise ships and she is basically a genius on this one. She looks amazing. It's like the boat is really hers and she just shares it with a bunch of people to make it more affordable!!

They have medical and dental in the ship, they have everything you need, stores, casinos food, bars dancing you name it they got it, all you need it’s $, And if I had money I would do the same, her husband must of been wealthy and he still continues to take care of her. I am happy for her. ❤️👍 I love this story.

Somebody should follow up on this story. Did she get through the Coronavirus when all the ships stopped sailing? Is she still alive??

This is what makes her happy. That's all it matters. There are physicians on board. The newscaster didn't know this? Yikes! Lol

JohnBelz There are operating theatres on most ships now. Not sure about this particular one.

It only works as long as she is healthy. If she gets injured or seriously ill, the cruise companies kick people off the ship at the next port. They don't care where they are. Crystal Symphony did that to a older American woman who broke her arm on a shore excursion here in Nuuk, Greenland effectively abandoning her in a country totally foreign to her and a long way from home. She was in our hospital for a couple days before before the port agent managed to get her a flight home. I was working as a local shore excursion agent at the time. I was not impressed with how Crystal Symphony treated her.

So my dad had a medical emergency on this ship. They have emergency care and helicopter pad if needed. Because his was a long term condition they sent us off but yea they have basic precautions and doctors on board

Cruise physicians are terrible though, and she'll be kicked off the ship if she has anything serious, so she could be stuck in a third world country receiving subpar medical care.

@@cymandamckinnon3263 yeah cruises are mostly old ppl if your on them when you are young like 20 -30 u feel like ur an alien that doesnt belong on this ship xD and also cruises are boring or mostly on sea and u only have short land trips no culture... if i travel i wanna taste local food and see culture
@exceptionaltalentspc49545 жыл бұрын
@@luxaly9510 Agree. I could not do that. I'd be bored from being on the water most of the time and being confined to a ship no matter how big it is.

Sure cannot be slowing down if you do not want to break down, along with proper eating. People want to blame elder age for everything for when more often than not it is too much bad habits eventually catching up to a person, in many cases, it can be only one bad habit.
