Hello Luke! I listen to your podcast to study English, but I often find myself laughing out loud because of your bright and kind energy. Thank you for bringing small moments of happiness into my daily life.

Hi Luke. Please don't hesitate to film any rambling videos!!! They are really valuable to us because what you might consider less prepared is actually a good resource for learning natural English. I've learned a lot from when you just talked spontaneously, and I believe others do too.

Dear Luke, how many talents do you have! Your parents should be proud of you! I was in Paris at that time. The whole week was raining. When I was there I told my daughter” you know Luke Thompson lives in this city”))) she saw you on KZbin while I was listening to you. May be soon you will become a sightseeing of Paris😂

Hi Luke! Thank you for this episode (and for all of the others too). It’s always a pleasure to hear you talking about things you’re passionate about 💞 I’m passionate about music too, to be honest. And I’m pretty sure that it’s important to treat yourself from time to time :) that’s why for the first time in my life I ordered a cake! For my birthday! By myself! With a picture of my favourite music band on it! Anyway, I’m looking forward to the new episode of Luke’s English podcast and to my birthday of course 😅 Have a great day, take care and stay healthy you and your family! 💓

Hello, Luke! I've enjoyed this rambling episode because you have talked about various themes, you have played different sorts of guitars, you look so happy and relaxed when you talk about your children and when you play guitar!!! Obviously, I'm always pleased to hear your clear modern RP English. As regards reporters' way of speaking English, I think they should speak as well as you do. Thank you for your dedication and kindness. 😊

Hi, Luke! Regarding why it’s beneficial to learn a language without any trace of your native accent, I’ve found that it significantly improves your communication effectiveness. It removes many barriers to language fluency, making conversations much smoother and more comfortable. Thanks for your work; it’s really fun listening to you!

Adding some words regarding learning English and accent.. I am from China and my English definitely has a strong trace of Chinese accent, but I’ve heard A LOT OF times people commenting on my accent.. saying.. it does not have a typical regional accent (Maybe they’re just trying to be nice..) I think a lot of people adapt their accents like me. I heard them sound completely different when they talk to people from India than when they talk to people from the US. Unconsciously people just do such things, like they choose different vocabs and use different intonations and even pronunciations. So like now I don’t even care at all if I sound Chinese or Californian or non-American.. Also some accents are much easier to pick up than others. Stay in LA for one week and you’ll sound like a valley girl. But stay in the UK for a life you wouldn’t sound British 😢
@Grasshopper-fn3ni6 ай бұрын
And if a foreigner wants to learn Chinese and ends up picking up my accent, yes I’d be flattered. And scared.

I don't know if James is a guitar guy considering his background as a drummer and his passion about electronica but I think it would be cool if you 2 did an episode on your favourite guitarists. In the UK you've always had astonishing guitar players like George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Bkackmore... Just to mention some of the most famous. Anyway, I always love any music-related content that you release, from the episode of British punk to the recent one on Madness. Cheers!

I've seen an interview with Andrew Scott, and he said: "Some people don't even know what Black Mirror means. You know that small mirror in our pockets. Our phones."

Yes, to be fair the title does refer to the screens of our phones, which Charlie Brooker has described as like a black mirror. But I am sure he's also seen Spinal Tap and that might have influenced him too.
