I wore out our 8850 jd. It was sold in a bad family feud. I'm mostly retired now, but I purchased a restored Tiger lll st 450. 1150 Cummins, Allison automatic. I purchased another 8850 that has a new motor in it, 3 hrs. It will be totally restored after awhile. I've talked to Ron at Big Equipment in Haver, Montana, and hope to have a restored Big Bud. Big G , greenline is making 60ft discs again and it will go great behind either one of them.

21 feet per pass and at 14 years old I plowed with a Case (steering arm was outside the 4 cyl motor) pulling a 2 bottom plow. Started about 6pm and go round n round n round till 2am. You could light a cigarette off the cast iron manifold thats how hot the exhaust was. Loved every minute. Im now 65.

A new bigtractorpower vid, a nice Easter Sunday treat. Very cool tractor and what a nice looking field. I've been subbed to this channel for years, I've been around farming/logging and all sorts of heavy eqip for lets just say more over 30 years than I'd like to admit, but I still get as excited for these videos and this kind of stuff as I did when I first climbed on the Case VAC and the 9n probably around 5 or 6 years old. Boy later when we got that Ford 600 I genuinely believed we had really made it big. Anyway just wanted to say how much I enjoy this channel and the great machines. Thank you

What an awesome tractor. I assume they removed a lot of the electronics that plagues John Deere tractors today. Our family (in the 60's) converted a TD9 International dozer to a Ford 390 V8 for power. I thought that was a puller until this. I am 73 now. Miss those days. Simpler times. Thanks for the video!

What a gorgeous, gargantuan, beast, the sheer power of that big Cat V12 and the wonderful sound it makes at idle or under load it just doesn’t get better than that. Listening to those two old timers describing how it was done they made it sound easy, that was some really inventive engineering skill applied there to get it all slotted in neatly - interesting comment from Bobby about the critical alignment issues being the hardest part of the challenge. Would love to have a go in that on a big sky field and feel that raw power under you. Magic stuff and showcases the incredible inventiveness and can do attitude of American farmers when a bigger tractor is needed.

We greatly appreciate Big Tractor Power attending our Indian Neck 2024 Plow Day. Jason video recorded all day long and kept us plowing until 4:30 pm. Well over 200 acres were plowed. Jason’s work is the best! His knowledge of tractors and farm equipment is so amazing and he has it all stored in his head. Thanks for your great comments about the Copy Cat. I have really enjoyed those about its power to weight ratio. Force times speed is power. 375 pounds of force at one mph equals one HP. 100 pounds of force at 3.75 mph equals one hp. This is why most tractors are built weighing 100 pounds per HP. When you double the speed to 7.5 mph then you only need 50 pounds per HP. Using Powertrain efficiency of 82%, 890 flywheel HP becomes 730 drawbar HP which equates to 36,490 pounds of force. The Copy Cat is well suited for modern day high speed work. Can the powertrain survive and does it have enough cooling capacity? I feel confident issues will surface. It’s just a great toy. We didn’t re-power it to work everyday. Thanks again to Jason and all of you who have commented. Ashton Lewis

DMI ran theirs at 630hp in freeze thaw. conditions trying to see what broke first on their disc rippers. 10 ,000 hours without issues aside from the 2 speed. So it is a pretty tough power train. As long as they run fast with a lighter load for the hp it'll probably be okay. They would have to weight it to 80,000 lbs+ to actually put 890 hp to the ground .

I worked in 9000 series engineering and the amount of cooling changes for the axles and trans was quite a bit going from the N14 to the 12.5L from the 8970 to the 9400. I can’t imagine the amount of lube changes needed to adequately cool the axles.

What as cool tractor. I wonder if the reason it doesn't get hot is because that plow isn't really making it work too hard? I'd love to see this rig really worked on, say, a wide high speed tillage implement that REALLY takes some horsepower. But then I wonder if it has enough weight to the ground or tire. 890 is a ton of power. Great job all around.

Happy Easter. You were the first viewer of the video 😁. It was interesting soil. It change texture and consistency going across the field. There were big pivots in the field. Across the road there were potatoes planted. It was my first time filming cotton stubble being plowed. The soil plowed up well. They used the 10X 890 to disk and smooth out the field afterward because it took some good tractor to pull through. It rained the night before and there were a few sticky spots that made the tractor crawl just a little.

Hello Mr. Big Tractor Guy. Love your videos. I'm curious as to where/how you find all of the different equipment you find? Also, do you ever get up to the country I farm in. I'm in the South end of the Red River Valley. This area is planted with Wheat, Corn, Soybeans, and Sugar Beets. I'm sure you've seen everything in our area as everything is farmed on quarters, 1/2 sections or in some cases full sections. What is somewhat unique to our area is this is a heavily farmed area so most all fields are dead flat and square/rectangle. Kinda boring. It's not uncommon to see multiple pieces of equipment in the same field. The largest built planters by all the manufacturers are common. Again, just interested in your travels to find all the equipment. CJ

The origional D10 BEFORE the release of the D11 in 1986. From 1980 to 1985 the D10 was the precursor to the D11. Caterpillar was building it's way up to a D11 by using the D10 as the precursor. The D10s from 1980 to 1985 were all somewhat different each year. I ran a 1982 D10xl that had a v12. It was an absolute torque monster. The real problem was it could tear the blade off the dozer. It could also tear the ripper right off the dozer. I seen the guy who worked opposite shift as me do it. And, he was always breaking ripper shanks. The original D10 pre 1986 were the same track frame as the D11n. In essence, the D10xl was a D11. Every year from1980 to 1985 each new D10 was built a little bit heavier & tougher. I'm not sure which year before 1986 that cat removed the v12 for a V8. But when the D11N was released in 1986 it had a 3408. The D10s after 1986 are really just a souped up D9 with higher hp. They're the same base tractor. But I agree, there's nothing like that whistle a big cat makes. 😊 It says very loud and clear, "ITS CATERPILLAR TIME. 😁 Especially on a hard pull.
