I feel like this one of the slept on Parliament grooves. That lead guitar and bass are second to none. My favorite song off the Funkentelechy LP.

Sadly its a lot of negative rituals with music goin around lately like that 2023 Grammy stuff with CBS tweeting “We’re ready to worship” and Sam Smith performing that demonic lookin song Unholy havin the audience wear devil horns and it was held on a full moon which was intentional so it more blatantly obvious they doin rituals with music smh 😩🤦🏽♀️🙏🏽 And yea I know Parliament may seem kinda out there on the surface 😂 But listening to the lyrics its a call out for divine protection and its like they infusing it into they music for GOOD purposes tho. So I guess “rituals” been in music for awhile but yea its ironic I saw that Grammy stuff and end up listening to Parliament today afterwards and made this connection. Its like Parliament wanting us to have fun but also sayin hey listen to this Funk music to feel good and for protection from all the BS. So if imma intentionally listen to any “ritual” regular music it would be something like this to protect me they meetin people where they at cause alot not in the church or not listenin to gospel music…I like it 😌😊 Even that “Swing Down Sweet Chariot” relates to that oldschool gospel hymn talkin bout “Swing low..sweet chariot…comin for to carry me homeee” and when he sang it live it was gospel music like he was in the zone almost like callin out to Christ to come back aye beam us up on the Mothaship pleaseee 😩🤦🏽♀️😂 Aw yea they DEFINITELY tryin to slick give analogies and infuse some God energy in their music in a fun way I get it clearly now even tho I’m sure they were judged by how they looked plus doin “secular” music but I get it 💯 Bless them for this 🙏🏽💓

@@oholm09 Maybe partially. But I also believe music videos played a part. It's not enough for a person to just play some terrific instrumentals now they have to put on a show too. In this video, those cats are PLAYING. Clinton and them play games on stage but the music is solid as a rock.

I like when George is directing traffic. For example at the 3:00 miniute mark he tells Mike Hampton to lay off for aminute so he can hear them say it. You can hear the rythm guitar immediately stop playing. Eventually Mike finds his way back into the rythm. It would be nice to see the additional footage of this song posted it has Mike inprovising at George's request. George calls on Mike a lot in his live performances during the heyday 70's. Mike is a great lead and rythm guitar player.

I love Jerome's style. I have played drums for over 50 years and I use a lot of his Latin based fills and also his most iconic/ signature Tear The Roof Off intro snare drum lick. I incorporate a lot that into my playing. He is the #1 P- Funk drummer in my book. Dennis had the hands speed but Bigfoot had that "Thump"!
