@@raven4k998 It's really incredible how shit the lower end was last year. 3050 was just embarrassing, and AMD near scammed with a laptop GPU the 6500XT while nVidia was selling directly to miners. It was such a shitshow. Meanwhile the 3060 is a bad card for the price, even at MSRP. It can't even best a 5700XT, AMD's last gen midrange, and costs about as much at retail even without scalping, otherwise known as stagnation. 3070ti performed worse than a 6800 and cost more. 6500XT needing PCIe 4.0 or it'd be even more of a failson than it already was. 6400 just cost too much, otherwise it'd be "fine." And then we have the abomination of a GTX 1630 for the most outrageous price to cost I've seen nVidia pull yet, and this gen was plagued by driver issues and other problems afaik. I mean, to be fair getting the TV or monitor is going to cost more than the card, so

@@pandemicneetbux2110 well since they were selling to miners oh well I mean seriously when you know the miners are going to buy those gpu's upo anyways might as well scam them with those cards
@pandemicneetbux21102 жыл бұрын
@Raven4K I mean who though? GTX 1630 was literally a scam for gamers. Or more specifically, a piece of crap to stick in the "high end" model of Amazon "gaming PCs" rather than the "midrange gaming PC" with a GT710 and a light strip glued to it. So I think it depends on the model. I mean, they're a soulless, bloodsucking corpo, so of course they'll make every criminal cent they think they can get away with if they think the fines will be cheaper than the profits. It's just that some are so horrible value it astonishes me that anyone even still charges that kind of money, let alone buys them. The 3050 @ $380 USD was just astonishing to me. It's not even a miner's card. It's *not even a good time to mine* and yet newegg was selling it for that, when the RX 6600 was $280. This is partly why I ended up making fun of gamers, when I realized they're all sincerely idiots and not just children. The GTX 1630 is a $70 card and the 3050 is a $170 card and that's being generous. Considering the 980 was $550 not even that long ago, I'm in my right to nail nVidia to the wall without restraint for this when we can clearly see the skeezy shit they've not only pulled now but been pulling the longest time. Trying to bull channels into emphasizing RT while they're selling to miners with already bad products by gaming standards was just the icing on top. What's saddening and ridiculous to me is that somehow these guys got cucked so hard by nVidia into thinking their products are worth something like that, when the sole reason nVidia sold so well this gen is because Ampere was a better mining card--which btw using that logic is why RX 5700XTs sold for $1,000 USD but would you be willing to pay that much for a last gen midrange AMD? Of course not. So I wish they'd get it through their heads how horrendous a scam for bad hardware nVidia has been at this point for many years now, because it's always been nVidia trying to push the overton window as far as possible on normalizing new car tier prices for a midrange GPU and only are going to stop getting away with it when you refuse to pay for it. That's part of why I switched to AMD last gen and have been laughing ever since, from the bad drivers and POSCAP issues to 3090s setting themselves on fire on and on, while my non-SLI Taichi model only rose in price to the point where it cost considerably more than a 2070s despite being a cheaper card at MSRP with mindblowingly better software. I thought a LOT how glad I was to have listened to reviewers and thought analytically and logically rather than emotionally. I would've bought a EVGA 2070s but went AMD instead and got a 1tb Sabrent Rocket boot drive with the savings in 2020. I'd have done nothing but regretted buying nVidia, as usual, even used. And yes I mined with it averaging $5/day with $10/day at certain points, so I effectively got that card for free. And no, I never cared whatsoever about DLSS it literally wasn't even a checkmark to me, and mainly wanted 2070s because the 2070 didn't have SLI. So to give the picture, as a gamer I cared more about SLI than raytracing in 2020. I just wish people would realize by now the sole reason Ampere cost more wasn't because of RT but because of the mining and simping for a logo (and a plastic backplate with no LEDs on an 8gb card srsly wtf nVidia?) Like had I not bought my card then in 2020, I'd be considering an AMD card now just because how bad the prices are in the States for nVidia and it'd be more power efficient and smoother too. I'm so irritated by the aforementioned issues coupled with what I now know about Lovelace it's unlikely I'm going to switch back and get a 4070ti. Probly a 7800XT or 7700XT, unless by some miracle Jensen lowers prices dramatically so I can include the 1000w PSU in my budget and AMD fucks something up spectacularly at the same time (the latter far more possible than former). I mean you can't even use the RTX feature set on a 3050 Jesus Christ why are you people buying it

Also, the ridiculous high resolution in old games has been one of my favourite things to do since I got a 4K TV. Using Nvidia DSR to render games at 8K on it is both ridiculous and satisfying as hell. I've been trying it on slightly newer-ish games since I finally got my hands on a 3080 for a reasonable price recently. There's only the slight pain of modifying the registry so it stops trying to use 4096x2160 as the base resolution for the DSR.

I bag on this card a lot... but ETA Prime found it to be actually very good for emulation. Might be worth a try.

I secured one of these when they came out and it's absolutely amazing, just don't expect it to run everything maxed out. But: it's almost dead silent, it doesnt need a power cable and has low consumption and is also really small, compared to the huge bricks GPUs got until today. I'm building a super flat desktop case right now out of aluminium and a flex atx psu and cant wait to put it in my desk, with this card in it.

@@xxxblackvenomxxx The question is... are you running it at PCIe Gen4?

You can set a custom resolution using a utility called Custon Resolution Utility. (CRU) So you can virtually set the windows 10 resolution to 8k or above on a 1080p screen.

This was so wholesome by the end that I'm giggling haha. I think it does say a lot about how old games are still very much enjoyable nowadays, albeit with crazy high resolutions. Half Life 2 at 8k with a native 8k texture pack.... Hmm

I have some old games that completely breaking in 4k especially some of the really old Lego games I'm talking about the ones pre-2005 like Lego chess. Even though that game supports 4K natively it has several bugs when running 4K

Well, a considerable drop in frame rate going from 4k to 8k is not exactly surprising. Most people misunderstand and think that 8k is simply double the pixels of 4k, but it's not (as you mentioned earlier). So you essentially have about 16x as much data that must be processed in 8k mode versus 1080p and about 4x as much as data to be processed over 4k mode (1080p is about 2MP, 4k is about 8MP, and 8k is about 33MP if you put this into megapixel terms). The other thing is that GTA V was likely not written with 8k displays at the time (most likely for 1080p and 4k) so the video card most likely has to do some extra work "upscaling" the game to 8k at the same time. The size of GTA V and the amount of AI (over other games, like Counter Strike) is also probably quite high, even though GTA V is about 7 years old now. At the time, it was a pretty large and demanding game (and depending on who you ask, it may still be).

Dawid thinks we come to watch his videos, and that Linode is just a fan favorite sponsor. It's really us coming to see Linode and Dawid is a fan favorite sponsoree

I am surprised how good this video idea turned out to be...never thought HL2 supported 8K in the first place. Thanks man.

I'm curious: these TVs aren't supposed to upscale the signal? I.e. if you watch a 1080p movie on a 4k TV, the TV upscales it to 4k by itself? Does the same happen when gaming at 1080p or 4k on this 8k monitor? Or if it doesn't by default is there a way to enable it?

@Dawid The problem here is not actually the GPU - which logically would struggle a bit - however - the main issue here is the memory. There is simply not enough of it to keep "high detail" (not talking settings here - but more "modern" textures - if that makes any sense) 8K textures in the frame buffer. The reason why it goes all poopy in GTA V at 8K is actually just that - waiting for textures being fetched from the SSD or system memory rather than the onboard memory. Also - the memory might actually not be 100% on your card seeing how that crash happened in CS:GO. That looked kinda iffy!
