Correction: What You’re Doing is on the Beatles for Sale album, not Rubber Soul. The last 12 string song was “If I Needed Someone”, which is from the Rubber Soul album.
@rockinrobb43502 жыл бұрын
Technically your right Nic it appeared on "Beatles for Sale " in the UK but it appeared on Beatles VI in North America because Capital Records decided to alter the content of the bands albums here in the US which never made any sense to me! It was a McCartney song credited to Lennon-McCartney written in Atlantic city by Paul after the 1964 world tour! LONG LIVE THE FAB FOUR (Great job on that beautiful Ric by the way)
@itslikethesamebutdifferent80202 жыл бұрын
@@rockinrobb4350 yeah I heard Capitol messed with the releases over in the states for some unknown reason. Tho it was on Beatles VI as you stated but in the video he says rubber soul so I believe he was going by the UK releases. One thing I’ve noticed is when doing these compilations most people follow the UK releases as they’re more universally recognized than the US Capitol releases which are only local.

"If I Needed Someone" Amazing riff, amazing song, amazing album, amazing guitarist, amazingly underrated and under- used songwriter. The Beatles are perfect in my mind and I have no complaints of their body of the art of sound. but I sometimes wonder what their albums would have been like had they utilised more of George's songs. When you listen to " . . . All Things Must Pass," you get an idea, but what would those and other songs have sounded like had they been on Revolver or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? Would not some of them been great additions to the White Album? Listening to "It's Only A Northern Song," and "It's All Too Much," from the oft-under-appreciated Yellow Submarine only makes me imagine more of Harrison's unused works and their possible trailheads. The Beatles were and are awesome and more than just a band, they were a 10-year Moment; an event; a milestone in all the lives they touched, and George helped make it all that much more grand.

Hey Craig. I tried to do as much digging as possible for these to make sure that every song definitively featured the Ric 12. There are a few songs where the use is contested. Words of Love, I Dont Want to Spoil the Party, Eight Days a Week, and a couple more. I think it's a 12 but I've done it in about 4 other videos and with the sliver of doubt I opted out. In hindsight I should have used that instead of I call your Name. It also would have registered probably fourth. A big exclusion from this list is George's 12 string part on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. He played John's Guild Starfire 12 string and laid down a harmony that mimicked Paul's bassline during the bridge. Super great part that completely ties the song together.
@8MinuteAxe2 жыл бұрын
Hey GB. I play the acoustic version of the song with a 12 in an early video and I talk about the session as it was the last 12 string on a beatles record (I believe). Itea great production idea but it just mimics the bass other than Beatles and production aficionados appreciating it, it's not that exciting to me (Mark Lewison and some other sources claim that John plays the part but I 100% agree with you that its George. The way he slides and articulates the notes is reminiscent of his brilliant part on Two Of Us (you probably already know this since you obviously know your Beatles but this was the song that got Paul upset that George was being too busy). I'm not sure that I would replace any of these plus these are Rickenbacker riffs. Big exclusion? I dont know if I would say that but your opinion is worth exactly as much as mine. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I appreciate your time and comment. Have a great evening take care and be well.. Mark
