8th Gen Honda Civic Electrical Issues

This video will show you what to do when all of a sudden these several things stop working; remote keyless entry, dome light coming on when you open the door after the car has been turned off, power window usage when the car has been turned off before you open the door, key left in the ignition alert chime when you open the door. This video is not an exact diagnostic of an electrical issue you may be experiencing, but it is one that I experienced myself and found to be the solution, I hope it helps you as well.

Thanks. I didn't have the radio problem, but my dash lights started going all haywire, flickering, "glitching", said I was going 0mph, gas gauge went to empty even though full tank, when I turned on headlights the radio light would dim. THEN, the speedometer light wouldn't turn OFF after shutting off engine and removing key, shut door..... just stayed on which would drain battery. ANYWAY.......... I tried replacing the 10amp backup fuse and SO FAR.... seems to have done the trick. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make it to work in the morning with a dead battery! THANK YOU for the video!!!!!!

That backup fuse is for memory of your radio, alarm and anything that needs memory for it to work when you start up the car or when you turn the key to ON position.

I had some electrical problems like head lights dim and when ac on made humming noise thought it was alternator belt … when I did big 3 upgrade it went away

That fuse should be removed before a radio swap, not really the radios fault. It’s designed to blow as a anti theft feature.

That fuse blew after weeks of use of the aftermarket head unit. The unit in question was sub par quality and caused an electrical short.
