Everybody needs to realize that Eric learned how to play Eruption BEFORE guitar lessons on KZbin were mainstream and high-quality videos of Eddie playing were not existent. Now THAT'S some respect brother.
@banditdarville. Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure he learned it.... I think he wrote it, but I may be wrong.........Anyway, I get your point........ KZbin gives youngsters a HUGE advantage nowadays......... This kid certaintly made a good job of recreating Eruption though, well done.
@banditdarville. Жыл бұрын
@Deine Mutter I was responding to Alex The Lues comment "Everybody needs to realize that Eric learned how to play Eruption". This implies that he LEARNED it from somebody else, however, he didn't, he WROTE it as you have now confirmed, thanks for the comment.
@banditdarville. Жыл бұрын
@Deine Mutter My apologies, I completely misread one word of Alex The Lue's comment, which led to all this confusion........ I mistakenly read the word Eric (in Alex The Lue's comment) as Eddie. Thanks for being persistent enough, and in doing so, make me realised my mistake..... If you agree, I will now delete these comments, as they are UTTER NONSENSE. Or if not, it can remain as a historical reminder for me to READ comments PROPERLY before jumping in and trying to correct someone who wasn't wrong........ Again, Thank You, and sorry for the confusion.

I remember how powerful it felt to play Eruption. The Music Store that gave me guitar lessons was having an open house concert where people could play whatever on their instruments, and I chose to play 316 followed by Eddie Van Halen’s extended version of the Eruption solo, and I remember beginning once the amps went on. The crowd was talking at first, but once it started they went dead silent. They were silent the whole time. It was crazy, like they were glued to the performance the whole time. I wasn’t perfect, but I did my best and heard a kid backstage yell “HE’S DOING FINGER TAPPING!!!” And as quickly as it started it was over. I walked off stage and sat down.

Talent shows are extremely biased at high schools and middle schools. In one of the shows at my school, there was a super good dance crew that did a choreography to Flux Pavillion's Gold Dust (if you've ever seen America's Best Dance Crew, it was like that)... they didn't even place in top 5 despite honestly being good enough to teach their own freestyle courses at the local dance studios. The top performance was given to a girl doing a Hawaiian dance that was pretty much as you'd expect (the first 10 seconds being interesting and the next 1.5 minutes being the first 10 seconds on repeat). Talent shows are rigged.

Something I've noticed about these guitar videos is that people cheer the easiest parts. And are seemingly unimpressed by the challenging parts.
@XeroBounds7 жыл бұрын
Yep. If I play a simple blues scale and hang on to triplets for dear life the crowd goes fucking insane. But when I play a crazy hard solo like something from pat benitar or pantera literally no one even acknowledges it. I think it has something to do with being a musician and better being able to critically listen for complicated arrangements. Our brains think differently.
@NiggaInTech7 жыл бұрын

@pape377 жыл бұрын
The audience is never wrong. They want to hear what sounds cool, not necessarily the speedy scales you've rehearsed. An E5 power chord is no less powerful just because you can play it with one finger.
@XeroBounds7 жыл бұрын
pape37 Except one is easy and takes pretty much no talent or innovation. Which leads to the same boring music that everyone complains about but keeps buying because marketers tell them to. This is why the 60s/70s was a better period for musical innovation. A large portion of the population wanted something new, which required creative innovation. As opposed to now where everyone is afraid of change. I understand your point though, however, the average person is fucking boring.

Not at all. As talented as the kid is. It's made me realise more how many people don't understand guitar playing. Now many people can mimic this. You see lots of posts people playing this or this style. But How many people can mimic Jimi Hendrix? Peter Greens-Fleetwood Mac? Frank Zappa? Allman Brothers? Rory Gallagher? Santana? Sure there's tracks from those artist people can do. But I bet you there's more tracks people can't do than they can. But yet cover bands can do a full set of Metallica... And sound very close.... Good luck trying to do a full set of Hendrick's, Green, Zapper, Brothers, Gallagher, Santana lol
