@@tbobrunetto I would download the Argonauts app and they send out announcements that they put out good bottles. Also follow them on Facebook and they release some good barrels on Wednesdays. They put out a stagg jnr recently.

The people saying how does he find these at these prices: Yall have to understand is that if your idea of "avid hunting" is going to a shop once or twice a week, only within a 1 hour radius of your house, you are NOT avid hunting, therefore you will not hardly ever find good bottles at good prices. You have to make actual sacrifices to be a good bourbon hunter. Daily hunting, multi state shopping trips, and LOTS of money/time. And heres the thing: if you dont think about doing all of that and go "man that sounds like a dream", then you arent into bourbon enough to waste your time and money on it in that sense. Dont follow trends, dont follow hype. Do what you have an actual desire to do, and ENJOY IT!

Yes I have. Been to Stranahans a few times pretty solid tours there. Can't say I've really been to other official tours. I have been to many distilleries in Colorado but it's a softer experience and now real set tour. I think Old Elk have something in Fort Collins.

Just got back from vacation went to the outer banks and was very disappointed in their selection. They had a whistle pig 18 for 399 and that’s way out for me. Other than that it was just regular shelf finds. Ended up going with WT 101 rye which is very good for the cost. great picks but around me I will never see any of these.

Nice list. 1792 Twelve Year is fantastic! I was lucky and picked up the Jack Daniel’s 10 Year. I agree that Weller Full Proof is the best of the Wellers, but Antique 107 is pretty darn good. I have also been fortunate to find 3 EH Taylor Single Barrel bottles in 2023 for $69 each. Stagg Jr is a favorite allocated bourbon of mine. I would pay $250 for Russell’s Reserve 13, but only see it for >$500 now on secondary. 🥃

The 1792 is so good. I get it's not for everyone as it's a little lower proof but it has a solid palate and nose. Glad you are able to find some good stuff Dave! I just picked up a buffalo trace store pick and an EHtaylor Small Batch today. Happy with that. Cheers.

High West Bourye is a distillery direct bottle for a few years now. Their website only ships to 5 states and DC. If there are still some on shelves they would be the older releases with the old label. Those should be closer to the old $80 price point.

Wow. Don’t know how you find those bourbons for so cheap. I have never seen Weller Full Proof or EH Taylor Single Barrel for less than $300. 1792-12 year cost me 100 bucks. 💰💰💰

Yeah the list makes sense. Ive had nearly all of the whiskey in your list, and I agree with it. Stagg jr is really good, EH single barrel is so sweet and flavorful, WFP is just amazing. Side note, when you were talking about the mouth feel of Russell’s, I was waiting for you to say “it’s whiskey you can chew” 🤣

@@TheWhiskeyCove The ones that you mentioned (BT products) are the ones that folks are asking way above retail. For example, EHT small batch, some stores ask $100 for a bottle that retails for $40. Imagine that? Are you paying $100 for a bottle with no age statement and is not barrel proof? Yikes. This only perpetuates secondary prices.

@@TheWhiskeyCove got a bottle of their standard 1884 in California and loved it! all the good notes of jack but smooth. the 1856 i picked up in Missouri, (at a much cheaper pricepoint!) and was blown away at how smooth it was. all deep and mid notes, no bitterness what-so-ever. just looked and i will pick up the single barrel early next month durring small road trip or $100 to order online and have it shipped. not available in nc apparently/

Tigg, I don't know if you are aware but Uncle Nearest has, in 2022, switched to a new recipe. All those awards the 1856 won are from the original recipe. The original 1856 recipe was a blend of 8-14 year old bourbons. I read that the new recipe has bourbons in the 4 or 5 year range. (The 1884 got a new recipe, too, with the old recipe being aged around 7 years and the new being 4 or 5 years.) I have bottles of both the old and the new recipes but haven't had the chance to compare the two yet. Along with the new recipe, the bottle labels were re-designed. If you want to know if you have old recipe or new recipe, here's how ... When you look at the top of the front label, if you see a drawing of a house it's the old recipe. If you see a horseshoe and no house, it's the new recipe. Which 1856 bottle do you have?

@@Best_Served_Neat_On_Ice i think i got rid of the bottle but i'm 99.9 percent sure it was a house. looked like a standard, plantation, forest gump house if i remember correctly. i will be very sad if i can't get the 1856 i bought early 2022, it was so damn good. what else would you suggest to someone like be who hates bitterness? deep sweet notes no bitter aftertaste.

Tigg, You'll be *very* lucky if you can find that old bottle on a shelf somewhere. A few months back I ran across a couple of the old bottles mixed in with the new bottles at a small liquor store. But the old bottles have generally been gone from store shelve for a couple yeats. What Uncle Nearest did was stop production of the old bottles for a year or so to - as Uncle Nearest stated - let the old recipe clear out from the liquor store shelves. So there was a year or so back in 2021-2022 where you wouldn't see any Uncle Nearest on the shelves. I have both the old and the new bottle now. I did a quick comparison of the two when I first opened the new bottle but don't really put much weight on what I found because the new bottle had just been opened whereas the old bottle had been open for a month. I generally don't trust what I find when I first open a bottle: the "neck pour," they call it. The new bottle has been opened a couple months now. What I should do is compare the old to the new and get back to you with what I find.
