I would buy a car that was built before 2001, because first of all most cars till 1997 have Bulletproof engines which will probably never die. Also it will be tax free because of how old it is. I would probably buy an Old mercedes and restore it. An mercedes w123, or a mercedes 190E are pretty good options. If you find a car with LPG just get that one, now a days petrol is so expensive. How about a BMW E39 5 series. I recently got a 2002 520i as my first car. And I love it. They're easy to get under 5k with high mileage but good maintenance. Mine was 3k with 270k km on it. It's rust free, well maintained and the backseat looks like it was never used. You can even get a 528 or a 530 with a lovely 3 liter flat six (in fact, all gasoline models have flat sixes, even the 520). It's fantastic to drive, it has beautiful understated styling that still holds up (unlike modern BMW's :'), it has a lot of modern luxury like dual zone climate control, cruise control, PDC, heated seats etc, it's incredibly quiet on the highway, it's comfortable and all round just a great cruiser. Yeah, some electronics can break but if you're up for doing some work on it yourself it won't break the bank and there's plenty parts available. The six cilinder engines are very reliable if properly maintained. Steer clear of the V8 models tho. It's also one of those cars I take friends for rides in and when they ask me what it costed they're always taken aback by the fact I only payed 3k for it.

Then after a year, the battery died, which caused it to flood the engine the moment I tried to start it and found out the battery was dying. Heater and A/C quit working. Always keep some oil with you and check it each week. And lastly, with such little torque and horsepower numbers, comes the worst fuel economy I've experienced. Worse mpg than a 2016 camaro SS I'm wanting to get. I'd recommend the car I got after the rx8, which was a 2008 eclipse gt 6 speed. Cheap, decent power, decent mpg, didn't cause me any problems.

Having owned a Infiniti g37s coupe, I will say it is the best luxury sports car in this segment. The G37s is a beast!! Not to mention with just a few modifications it can really turn heads and make people look! By the way, I don't know any G37's going under 5k, I got mine for 8.5k and worth every penny!!!

umakegoodcookies not gonna lie I wrote this comment half way through the video not knowing he was going to mention the Phaeton or 944. But the E46 could still be reliable if you buy a good one and don’t try to mod it

Got a 2010 G37 XS anniversary edition which comes fully loaded and with the red leather seats. Only 49k miles on it and I picked it up for 13000 back in 2018. That I believe is a fair price.

Car guys: “Complain new cars normally don’t come with manual options. Only buys used cars because it’s the smart thing to do.” The cycle continues
@shred18944 жыл бұрын
Most car guys can't afford the $30k+ price tag on enthusiast cars brand new. Heck, the base model 2020 Honda Civic with no options MSRP is 20k ($19.8k, but after dealership markup and fees). THE BASE MODEL HONDA FUCKING CIVIC. You can build a higher-spec 90s/00s car that performs much better for less than $20k.
@txprodigy954 жыл бұрын
shred1894 adjusted to inflation a comparably equipped vehicle is close in price, technology that didn’t exist yet is now standard on cars because of regulations and that drives up base prices. Also stagnant wages haven’t kept up with inflation either. The 90s and today are two drastically different economies. Auto manufacturers build what people are buying, we’re a minority to a majority of people who have money for crossovers and trucks.

The problem with the Renesis 13B in the RX8 is the electronic oil metering pump. They go bad and people don't know to premix their fuel leading to heat/wear on the apex seals eventually burning them out and possibly destroying the rotor or more. An older parts RX7 (mechanical metering pump) I bought had around 150k miles when I bought it. The car ran fine but was rusted out so I dropped that 13B into my third 71/72 Opel GT with a proper turbo and it runs like a champ 30k miles later with just preventative maintenance. People get a kick out of that car, the Turbo LE5/LNF Opel, and the first one I got with a factory CIH engine. When it's a fairly rare car you don't have people that will raise pitchforks in the air, not as many anyway.

1) Rx8 Has two rotors not 1 2) Mr2 sw20 also came in a 200 hp Turbo model with the 3sgte side note the 944 was also a terrible car to work on because of that transaxle trans as well.. post 89 they made the up pipe on the turbo models two piece, so you didnt have to basically pull the motor when you replaced the clutch.

Great video guys, and I heartily agree on the Porsche 944 as a great car for the money. Definitely try to spend a bit more, but they're a driving experience worth checking out. You can get a Toyota Supra, with different (nicer) clothes, for under five grand. There is one, although with a V8, at our neighborhood corner sales lot for $4,000 (been there for a couple years, I checked it out (I'm a mechanic) and it was in good shape) and only a little over 100,000 miles (nothing for a toyota). It's called a Lexus SC300 (with a Supra six cylinder) or a SC400 with the eight cylinder. These are very nice luxury cars and, unlike many on your list, these will last, worry free, darn near forever.
