Excellent summary. Most people suffer with these thoughts to some degree. Negative emotions are there for solid evolutionary reasons however, we should be taught emotions are not facts but early warning signs that need full investigation. I like to think of negative emotions as dashboard warning lights telling us something may be wrong as opposed to solid fact. You are doing good work

Thank you! Absolutely, all emotions are valid and deserve our attention! Arguably, there are no ‘negative’ emotions as even uncomfortable emotions are valid and can teach us something.

It's called 'over-thinking'. Somehow, we're supposed to stop thinking so much. I think childhood trauma has a lot to do with thought patterns, especially hypervigilance & if u were scapegoated as a child then someone else created your self-image & it probably wasn't a very good one.

This is great but mostly im not sure if many people can observe their way out of these . In most situations they end up getting tunnel vision when in the situation and any outside assistance triggers ego defence mechanisms and leads them further down the rabbit hole . Perhaps this could be expanded further down the line.
@MindKnown2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This video gives a quick overview of some ideas from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Some ppl would benefit from further support, e.g. sessions with a cognitive behavioural therapist 🙂
@Alphacentauri819 Жыл бұрын
Awareness and observation are foundational to being able to take action to change. We have to see, no longer be blind, to our own patterns. Too often we are mindlessly, automatically, carried by thoughts, and in this case, distorted thinking. To be swept up, in these thinking patterns, is to be ruled by them. Observation breaks that. Witnessing, inquiring, are not at all a tunnel vision approach...but instead a zooming out, an ability to start to employ metacognition, introspection, in an aware, balanced way. Through these observations, skills, we can more actively choose our thinking, bringing the subconscious to the conscious.

"Catastrophizing" is ultimately accurate. Everybody and everything's life ends in a horrible catastrophe, no matter how many dumb things you were able to do. "De-catastrophizing" is a cognitive distortion based on purposefully underestimating how bad sentient life is. You are born, and you might even be a "winner" in life, but then you'll get old, and after either a horrible accident or bad medical news followed by a tortuous downward spiral, your life will be terminated in a catastrophe. And it's all for nothing, too.
@MindKnown2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! In this context, catastrophizing relates to the day-to-day magnification of events and the likelihood of something terrible happening, rather than the inevitable end of our lives. I appreciate you taking time to share your view 🙂

But what if you’ve caught some people in the act talking about you! I’m not stupid I know these people are talking about me. It feels horrible. I wish I could go out and party and sleep with a lot of women like most men my age do. I have this thing where I have jello legs. I wobble and walk weird in public. And sometimes alone as well. In public people see me walking and notice my jello legs and talk about it. My anxiety sky rockets if people are staring at me or if I feel like they are. I get very tired of my jello legs and people pointing and talking everyday.

My mind calls me a god. Is that good or is that bad?
@HiWLo4 ай бұрын
Have you listed down the reasons in why you believe you're God?? Do you indulge your life with religion and believe that God has chosen you to save the world and others around you?? If so, I'd suggest in stepping away from reading, viewing and talking about religion with others. Keep a journal around and when you catch yourself in situations that quickly bring up you asking yourself or wanting to tell others,"but in the ____ it says to not do this." Then quickly write down what you wanted to say or thought and later write down how the scenario played in your perspective to why you reacted in that way. Id invest in talking to a therapist about it and telling them you'd like a professional's view point towards your journal, where they can possibly challenge you later on to see if you still think that way. If you don't want to see a therapist then I'd definitely would look back at your journal and either argue against yourself or ask yourself questions in what led you to that view point.

@@HiWLo I never said I think I'm god. I said my mind kept yapping about it ever since I was a kid. now it's quiet.
