Food sources of vitamin D, including some lesser known sources. Traditional diets in northern climates included many more vitamin D containing foods, many of which also contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are another common deficiency. These are also other essential vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in these foods.
By incorporating these foods into your diet, you can increase your vitamin D intake while also nourishing your body in other ways, so I'd suggest getting as much of your intake from diet as possible to gain these other benefits which are not present in a supplement. You could always do a combination too, if you can't eat enough of these to meet your full requirement. A doctor or nutritionist might be able to help you with an individual plan if you need one :)
Of course, this is my personal research and opinions and in no way medical advice. I'm just trying to save you time researching and give you some ideas in what I hope is a helpful format.
If you have any feedback or video suggestions, let me know!

Go for the first 9 then 😉 I included enriched foods because I know that it's realistically where a lot of people get vit d, if they eat mostly processed foods. I agree a natural source is better if available.

Also in case people go by this list and don't watch the entire video: Pork and beef muscle meat are not good sources. Fatty cuts of pork and organ meats of both animals can be good sources.

Thanks for the great info on how important vitamin D is in our diet, and the best ways to incorporate it into our diets. I’m inspired to get my hands on some good lard and salmon now 😉

What about unrefined good quality olive oil for cooking, would u still say it's better to change to lard
@HackYourHealth
@HackYourHealth 4 жыл бұрын
I think it depends what you are cooking, and the temperature. Theey are both good, but there are certain instances where lard is more suitable, for example with higher temperatures or in baking, etc.

Yes, sun is probably the best source In many parts of the world, possibly including Australia I'm not sure, there is not enough sun for most of the year

I am not sure adding vitamins to food accomplishes anything. The vitamins have to be chelated in order to be absorbed and function properly in the body.

Make sure they are UV light exposed, as regular mushrooms from the store contain no vitamin D. Also, you will need to eat them more frequently, than the other sources as they are Vit D2, and our body doesn't store it long :) Thank you for watching!

@@HackYourHealth My favorites are "Portobello" and white ones among the other kinds, VEgans are pretty crafty as to making some delicious plates such as mushroom burgers (baked), soups and creams. Not all vitamin D sources are good for everyone though, some people have high cholesterol, diabetes, Hypertension, liver problems (high bilirubin), etc., Sun is the most reliable source of vitamin D for everyone though. Thanks for the info.
